Kapitel 25: A Good Idea

It was the same Kaiju that Gamera was thinking about before the first fight. At first glance, he wasn't big and he wasn't even up to the level of the Kaijus he had fought so far. Such creatures should have been the first to come from the portal. The strategy of constantly increasing the mass and number of Kaiju was supposed to work like this. But this is not a big creature, smaller than the previous ones, appeared 2 years after the beginning of the invasion.

Gamera recalled the details of this attack. It was the monster that killed the parents of the mechanic girl from the second part of the movie "Pacific Rim". It looked very much like a caterpillar, with large horns and spikes all over its body.

"What? You have four paws?" thought Gamera. It was strange, in the movie it looked long and with many short legs, but in reality it was normal - two legs and two arms, just skinny and short.

"Did you just walk across the ocean floor to avoid detection? No, there's more to it. Do you have some kind of advanced cover?" Thinking about the situation, one could guess what was happening here. In the film, this attack was definitely not the first, but there were no warnings about the attack. People were just walking and relaxing on the beach when the monster suddenly came out of the water.

Did this attack spur humanity to improve detection technology? Such a problem no longer occurred. This is the only case when the city was not warned in advance (we are talking about the period starting from the discovery of the portal). In all other cases, people not only knew the size of the Kaiju when it came out of the portal, they even knew their appearance and immediately gave them silly names.

The Kaiju didn't wait any longer for the Turtle to finish analyzing the situation. He had a mission to complete. But he will not be able to do anything without defeating the enemy, so he was preparing for battle. Having collected some substance in his mouth, he spat it out at the enemy.

Gamera was a little late in noticing the start of the attack, but he managed to shift his body to avoid being completely engulfed by the attack. A white sticky substance stuck to the left side of the body. This substance bound the left arm to the body, preventing it from moving freely. "What the.. ?" It was like a web, so Gamera didn't dare to try to remove it from him. If his right hand sticks as well, he will be hard to fight.

The Kaiju was about to spit again, but Gamera quickly came up and hit him on the head like a hammer with his fist. Since Gamera was taller, his one punch was strong enough to bury the Kaiju's face in the sand. Immediately after that, he stepped on his head with all his weight, preventing him from getting up. It wasn't stable but he didn't want to pin it to the ground with the only hand he had free because the Kaiju still had a spiked tail.

Gamera waited for the tail attack to come, and it came almost immediately. That tail was the only thing to watch out for. Its sharp spike could hurt. Pulling his tail out of the water, the Kaiju struck with all his might like a scorpion. But Gamera was ready, he caught the tail, pulled it to his mouth and bit it. He wanted to bite this tail off so he wouldn't have to think about it anymore.

Kaiju couldn't break free, his head was pinned to the ground by a foot. He tried to sting with his tail, but it didn't work, and now he may be tailless. He needed to break free. He wrestled himself from the ground with all his might, his arms and legs worked, but it was in vain. When he managed to escape, he was already without a tail.

Raising his head, he immediately spat out the prepared web. This time he managed to completely seal the opponent's legs, but before he could deliver his next blow, flames shot out of the Turtle's mouth.

Gamera needed to get rid of this sticky substance, so he decided to burn it. He didn't need to go for all power of the fire breath, he needed speed, so he breathed out what was in his lungs.

WHOOSHSHSHS (lol describing the sounds is quite funny)

Flames flared on his legs, and then on his arm. The web caught fire and began to fall from the body. At that moment, Gamera was covered in his own flames and looked very scary.

The Kaiju decided to attack without waiting for the fire to die down. He hoped the web would last a few more seconds. Jumping forward, he struck the Tortoise in the stomach with his horns. After the collision, he did not stop, but pushed on. But all he could do was kick the sand with his feet. The Kaiju's horns couldn't penetrate the armor on his stomach, and now Gamera grabbed his horns with both hands.

"And who thought of making you such big horns?" That was the end for the Kaiju. He couldn't get out of Turtle's hands. With great speed and force, his face was again sunk into the sand. Gamera let go of his right hand, and with his left hand, holding on to the horns, lifted Kaiju's head from the sand. Throwing back his right hand, Homera delivered a punch to the face, then another, and another. The Kaiju couldn't do anything, at first he tried to strike back with his hands, but the powerful blows kept stunning him and he couldn't aim. All he could do now was cover his face with his hands.

Gamera did not stop and hits with all his might, breaking through the defenses and knocking out the creature's teeth. When the Kaiju was already limp, he released him, and he fell unconscious to the ground. He was still alive, but incapacitated.

This was his first victory without losses on his part. Gamera gasped for air and let out a triumphant cry as he looked at his beaten enemy.

ROOOAAAAAARRR

"Now what am I to do with you, incomplete caterpillar?" Having calmed down, he needed to decide the fate of the beaten caterpillar.

One interesting idea occurred to him. His plan to defeat the aliens required a drifting Kaiju brain. But drifting requires a living brain, and it is almost impossible to get it. The brain dies a couple of minutes after the death of the body, and by the time you break through the skull bone to get to the brain, you will no longer be able to drift. The first time the traitor biologist drifted, he had a piece of his damaged but living brain in his lab. And the second time he drifted on a small Kaiju immediately after his death.

These cases were nothing but luck. And you should not hope that you will be able to conquer 100-meter creatures. Killing them in such a way that the brain is not damaged and that scientists with equipment can reach the brain in 3 minutes is even more difficult.

With an evil grin on his face, Gamera figured out what to do with the Caterpillar. He decided to leave him alive. Well, almost alive.

Gamera heard the sound of helicopters approaching him. A minute later, about ten heavy transport helicopters flew up to him, carrying one large Jaeger. The Jaeger was of a strange shape with some spheres on his shoulders. Apparently, it was one of the first.

Approaching the site of the battle, the helicopters released Jaeger, and he fell into the water near the shore. With a loud splash of water, the humanoid giant robot landed on its feet, crouching slightly from its own weight. He turned to Gamera, watching his reaction.

It was an important moment for the military. The first reaction to another giant was very important. They didn't want to fight a creature that could release powerful fire attacks. So they decided to send Jaeger. He didn't have to fight, it was just an introduction.

Gamera and Jaeger did not move. They watched each other. But Gamera wanted to check something. He remembered that the first Jaegers were unsuccessful. They had only one pilot, and after the first battle, those pilots could die from brain overload. But there was one pilot who survived - it was Marshal.

Slowly, Gamera approached the robot. He did not make sudden movements, pretending that he was looking at the unknown giant. After some time he was already right in front of Jaeger. Slowly raising his hand, he tapped his claw on the cockpit where he thought the pilot was. There was no answer. Then Gamera covered his face with his hands, and then opened them, closed them again, and opened them. It looked pretty funny, but he wanted to look at the pilot. This was important, so he decided not to maintain a strict image.

Gamera didn't indulge in self-deprecation for long, and he didn't have any more ideas on how to tell the robot to open the cockpit, so he just stood there and waited. After 10 minutes there was the sound of hydraulics and the door opened. But Gamerа did not see where they opened, he looked at the entire robot from head to toe, but did not see the door.

"Where's the damn door?!" He thought. A voice came from behind the robot, with a confused look, Gamer walked around the robot and looked behind him. There, in the middle of the open hatch, stood a man in a strange uniform. He waved his hand slightly in greeting to Gamera.

"Hello, giant! I'm your fan! You saved a lot of people in my city. So thank you," the Jaeger's pilot said. He knew that this meeting would not last long, so he decided to thank the big boy right away.

Gamera heard what the pilot said, and it warmed his heart. Even though he was fighting not only to protect the people but also for his own survival during this invasion, he was still glad to hear that his suffering was not in vain.
