Hordes of rock and wind elemental beasts advanced towards a city with ferocity. With the size of the city and the number of beasts there are, the city would be flattened instantly. With such movements from beasts in large numbers, there was only one thing one could think of. A unique beast had been born.
There are times when unique beasts with sentience are born and can command other beasts to form groups known as Clans. Clans typically consist of the beasts having the same elemental abilities, however, there are times when there are other beasts with varying elemental abilities in Clans. One such clan was the one sieging the city.
As they advanced, a sky full of water arrows descended on them, killing some instantly and injuring others. A blue-haired man with a white hairband and a bow stood on a rock several meters away and kept firing at the horde.
"If that's all you got, then no way you are winning. Yahoo!" a burly man with pointed ears jumped past the blue-haired man and slammed the ground with his axe. Dense thorny foliage sprouted among the beasts, trapping and piercing through them. He threw his axe into the horde and ran towards it as the blue-haired man sped past him.
"Kai, I bet you can't do something that simple, can you? Haa!" the burly man said with a cackle. "Tim, can you go a day without picking a fight with Kai?" "Huh!?" Tim looked back as a green-haired woman dashed past him. "Hey! Not fair, you distracted me", he protested as Kai passed him.
"You allowed yourself to be distracted", she smirked, jumping into the air. Dark green haze surrounded her alluring figure midair as she suspended there. Her calm, sparkly white eyes gazed into the midst of the beasts. With a wave of her hands, dark green pearls the size of water droplets appeared amidst the beasts. She snapped, and they exploded, covering the beasts in the haze around her.
The mist sank into the flesh of the beasts and destroyed their insides. They fell to the ground like knocked dominos. "And that's how you deal with an army, Tim", she jabbed. Tim gritted his teeth and grunted, "Whatever!" he said. "Hey, hey, hey! Let the weaklings step aside for the king, heh!" a voice resounded among the beasts as the ground exploded, sending pillars of lava into the air.
The beasts within the range of the lava pillars were all thrown several meters into the air, and they came crashing back like meteors. "What the hell, Bruce, I am going to beat the s@#$ out of you when we finish", Tim remarked.
"Ahh! I knew it. The weakling was going to reveal himself", a man said, emerging from the lava with a grin. Tim's head flashed red. He was ready to explode. "You…tch!"
"Why do you keep letting him get to you?" A man with a mace dropped from the sky like lightning into the midst of the beasts. "Ah! And the boring one came along", Bruce taunted. The man with the mace glanced at him and charged into the horde, "Unlike Tim, I'm not going to fall for your silly taunts", he proclaimed.
"That's why you don't have a girlfriend, Wu Kang. You are no fun", Bruce jabbed again, not backing down. Bruce's words pierced Wu Kang's heart, and he almost coughed up blood. Wu Kang froze in his spot and turned his head like a robot would. "Wanna die?"
"Got him!" Bruce jubilated within.
"I can't believe you let him get to you too", Tim teased with a smug face. "Tch! Whatever", Wu Kang said and continued fighting the beasts. Little by little, the horde reduced as they fought on. At the rear of the horde, a huge beast with a mane and sharp fangs roared to the sky. With every roar, how the beasts attacked changed. In its forehead was a red gem which exuded great power. Without a doubt, it was the leader of the clan.
Above the horde, a damselfly-like spacecraft hovered above the huge beast as the back slowly opened. "Captain Xu, I have located the clan leader." In the cockpit of the damselfly-like spacecraft, Zygoptera, a woman in a black shirt knotted at her side, announced. A man walked towards the opened exit and stared at the clan leader. "So, you were the one causing all this ruckus? You clan leaders are damn annoying."
He jumped from the craft and summoned his spear. Two ice spears appeared beside him in addition to the one in his hands as he descended towards the beast at great speed. The clan leader roared and jumped at him, clawing at him. He blocked it and punched it back to the ground. It struck down with a loud bang, sending a cloud of dust into the air.
The beast's feet, which ruptured, had healed, and the beast was up again. "So, it's true." Captain Xu pondered. "The clan leaders can only be truly defeated after destroying the gem in their heads. It's no easy feat to do such a thing, but this one is too weak. This should end in a jiffy". He unleashed several ice spears, which stabbed the beast in several places, making it look like a porcupine.
He landed by it and stabbed its head with his spear, shattering the gem. Losing their leader, the other beasts were like headless chickens and ran off in various directions, disappearing into bushes and mountain ranges.
Zygoptera landed near Captain Xu, and Xelen exited her. "Everyone, fall in", Captain Xu ordered, and the rest gathered around him. Looking at their faces, he noticed how excited they were, so he commented, "I can see you enjoyed mowing down those weaklings."
Some pouted while others giggled. Captain Xu's relaxed expression became tensed as he continued, "Our new mission won't be as easy."
"New mission? Another loose clan leader?" Tim asked. "At least allow him to finish what he was saying", Wu Kang poked his head with his finger. Tim hissed in annoyance but said nothing more.
With their silence, Captain Xu continued, "We are going to the Abbys of Kirin" he announced. Everyone's face fell as soon as they heard him. They knew just how dangerous that place was, even for Aces like themselves. However, no one complained instead they all suddenly beamed up, and Xelen asked, "So what is the mission?"
Seeing their expressions made Captain Xu relieved. "These guys are dependable. I can't ask for a better team." He smiled and gave them information concerning the mission. "We are to hunt down and eliminate the Abyss Demon, Abaddon. He has been on the run for several years and is believed to have sought shelter in the Abyss of Kirin."
"Which kinda brain-dead psychopath runs to the Abyss of Kirin to seek shelter?" Lina asked with a frown.
"The kind we are dealing with", Captain Xu said, turning towards Zygoptera. "GHOST, let's head out. I will give you further details on the way." They boarded the ship and took off, disappearing in the clouds.
