Kapitel 70: Shadow Knight vs Calamity Being
A loud cheer erupted as the details of the upcoming match were displayed on the screen. With few fights to take place at a time, more screens were allocated to each match. Unlike when the bout began, the semis of each Level was to take place on different days. On this day, the semis for the Quint level were to take place. To kick off the semis was a match between the Shadow Knight and a being in black armour.
The details of both fighters were displayed on the screens. The armoured being,

Trees swayed as a cold breeze blew over a forest. The moon was high and at its brightest. It was a calm environment for one to rest. In the thicket of trees, a being in black obsidian-like armour with green vines creeping on it walked through the forest with a halberd strapped to its back and a shield on its arm.
Its deep green eyes scanned the forest and then rested at a spot on a large branch. "Looks like they want us to give it our all, considering they gave us each an advantage", the being said as it glared at the figure on the branch.
"You are a curse. How did you get here?" A man in a black turtle neck asked as his murderous intent exploded. A scythe manifested in his hands, and the shadows around him started to vibrate.
"You know who we are? Kukukukukuu!" The being covered an eye and glared back as vines crept on the ground, ready to attack his opponent. "Shadow Knight, right? Now that I think about it, you sound like someone I hate. So…" it drew its halberd and jumped at Shadow Knight. "…please drop dead!" it barked and slashed at him. Shadow Knight retreated, and the branch he stood on was looped off.
He created shadow claws which violently attacked the calamity being. "The night is my ally; you don't stand a chance", he declared and headed for the calamity being with a burst of power. Vines and branches shot out and intercepted the claws as the calamity being also declared, "The forest is my ally too; YOU don't stand a chance."
With a quick swing, Shadow Knight's scythe headed for the calamity being's head. It lifted its shield to defend itself while swinging the halberd below it. Shadow Knight leapt into the air, and the halberd swung past, hitting nothing but air.
"Hey! I thought I asked how you got here?" Shadow Knight said in a condescending voice. The calamity being put a hand under its jaw and scoffed, "If you want an answer, you will have to beat it out of me." He barely concluded when Shadow Knight jumped at him, swinging his scythe ferociously as he responded, "Gladly", he said.
The two rampaged on, unleashing various skills to come out on top, but none could tip the balance. "I'm getting sick of this, begone!" Shadow Knight declared as he manifested light-like flames in his hands and hit the calamity being with it.
"Hahahahahaha!" the calamity being cackled loudly as its green eyes turned red and its aura spiked up. It used a skill exclusive to calamity beings, Calamity Rage, to increase his strength. "This would be boring otherwise. Give it all you got", it declared and attacked Shadow Knight madly.
Shadow Knight was immediately half-enveloped in light and half enveloped in shadow. He no longer looked human but like a mysterious being of light and shadow. His scythe was covered in light as he fought madly with the calamity being, laying waste to the land. Trees fell every place they stepped.
"This damned calamity beings. They really did appear again. How the hell did they even get here? Did the family heads not know about it?" Shadow Knight gritted his teeth and jumped high into the sky with his hands held high. Specks of light filled the sky like stars on a dark night. With a swing of his hand, he fell upon the calamity being like heavy rain.
Shadow Knight used the skill Luminous Shower, where he creates tiny light orbs that strike one with the power of a bullet and rain them on the opponent.
The dust-filled land soon cleared, and the calamity being came out with light wounds. It used its shield to block off most of the light orbs.
"Hey! Why are you still alive?" Shadow Knight questioned with a look of annoyance. Veins bulged on his head as he glared at the being, his murderous intent leaking like a damaged faucet.
"You are beginning to tick me off", Shadow Knight said and stretched forth his hands towards the calamity being. "Land of Darkness", he whispered, and several shadows leapt out of the forest to attack the calamity being. Even the shadows of the plants around move as well.
"Hahahahahaaahahaha! More, more, more", the calamity being yelled as it battled on like a crazed monster, blocking and attacking with plants and vines around him.
Shadow Knight gritted his teeth and battled on. "Why am I so angry? Because I have every right to be. My mom told me when I was a kid how great of a man my dad was. She said he even fought in a great battle with the calamity beings but had since gone missing."
"After I grew older, she went out to find him because I always asked about his whereabouts. A few months after she left, her body was found and brought back with the arm of a calamity being sticking out of her chest. The family heads had to cover it up to prevent panic and fear. But I remember vividly how cold her hands were. I will never forgive them for what they did to my mom, those damn calamity beings. I swore if I ever met any of them, even if I had to extinguish my life force to kill them, I wouldn't hesitate."
Both abandoned their flashy moves and duked it out with their weapons. Every clash of their weapons erupted dust and split trees in two. Shadow Knight's attacks became fiercer as his rage grew. He gritted his teeth, ignoring his wounds, and kept swinging his scythe like a madman. He was like a berserk creature that had been let loose.
"What is this guy?" The calamity being gritted its teeth. The calamity being was the one running amok in his berserk mode, yet he was being pushed back. The hatred directed at him was so deep he was dumbfounded. Never has he witnessed a human with such hatred.
Though Shadow Knight was rampaging on, ignoring all his pain and wounds, his injuries were to a point where he could die at any moment. He coughed up blood as his injuries got worse. "Calamity beings cannot be allowed to live. I will end them with my own hands", he swore as he fought on.
"Ah!" he yelled and looped off the calamity being's arms with another swing of his scythe and quickly grabbed its head, pouring his powers into it without allowing it even a moment to talk or think. "Ballad of Shadows: Chaos Song."
Shadows seeped into the calamity being's body through its orifices, destroying it from within. Its flesh tore off and fell like rain along with blood. Shadow Knight increased the number of shadows while pressing its head with his hands. The calamity being's scream filled the ears of the audience, and some were left with their minds almost broken.
Its head exploded, and blood splashed on Shadow Knight's face. "It's over", he said and dropped to the ground like a dead fly, coughing up blood. His wounds were too severe, and blood oozed from his wound.
The audience was dumbfounded. They had never seen someone being killed in such a cruel way. It speaks volumes about the hatred Shadow Knight had for calamity beings.
Meanwhile, somewhere in a brown rocky territory, a man with long blue hair and jade-like skin raced towards hordes of beasts, shooting water arrows as he advanced. "I won't lose to any of them", he declared.
