Kapitel 21: The Third Tragedy

The destruction and chaos caused by the Insanity God were felt throughout America, but the very next day everyone went about their day as usual. For three days, the government banned anyone from entering Miami and told citizens to stay off the streets as they rounded up the people who had not retained their sanity and who, for some reason, blacked out after God died.

After the 3-day ban, operations in Miami were slowly reopened to the public, and reconstruction of the damaged city was well under way. Additionally, the tragic killing of those children at the spawning facility was kept under wraps.

Turnner stood at the front of the control room, speaking to Noria. Toktio sat at one of the computer desks as the staff went about their jobs. Turnner looked at Tokito, then back at Noira, and said, "Where are the others?"

"They were all struck by God the other day and haven't woken up. We're monitoring their condition closely."

"I see. Well, now that's is out of the way, I would like to know why exactly you called me to the agency."

Noria looked at a telephone sitting on a table a short distance from them and said, "At 7:00 am this morning, we received a call from an unknown person; he wanted to speak to you."

"Name?" Turnner asked.

"We didn't get one, but he said he would call back at 9 a.m." After hearing that, Turnner pulled up his sleeves and checked his watch. The minute hand struck 9 a.m., and suddenly the telephone started ringing. Turnner glanced at the ringing telephone, then back at Noria. She held out her hand, signaling for him to answer it, so he walked over and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Michael Turnner I thought I'd give you a call." The strange voice on the other side said, "Now I'm going to make this straight and simple. If you don't tell me where theatom is, a lot more people are gonna die."

"Is that your way of saying I care about these people?"

"I don't know what kind of man you are, Turnner, but I will tell you this. If you continue to be stubborn, a good chunk of people are gonna die, and I know the government won't be pleased, so the ball's in your court."

Turnner laughed, "How are your lungs, Mitch?"

There was a slight silence, then Mitch replied in an irritated voice, "My lungs are fine."

"Good, and keep it that way; otherwise, you might end up dead before we get to see each other."

And then both of them laughed until Turnner shut off the call abruptly and immediately changed his joyful expression.

"What'd he say?" Noria asked Turner, who glanced at her, "It's Mitch; he's going to conduct more Tragedies."

"Can we stop him?"

"Unfortunately not, but if I find him, He won't be able to defeat me."

"So you know where he is?"

Turnner turned and started walking down the aisle, "No, but I know a friend who can locate anyone and anything on this planet. He lives in Alabama, and that's where I'm going."

"I'm sending Toktio and three other contractors to ensure your safety." Noria stated, but Turnner didn't reply. He simply kept walking as Toktio followed behind him.

Miami Metrorail: Vizcaya Station, 10 a.m.

Author Note: Vehicle = Railcar in the train scene.

Turnner stood close to the railway, staring at the trees on the other side. Tokito leaned against the concrete posts holding up the Station's roof. While the three other male contractors sat in the blue chairs provided for passengers waiting on their train.

Tokito was scrolling through his phone when Turnner broke the silence, "Have you ever been on a train, Tokito?"

Toktio stopped and looked up at him. "A few times." Then he immediately went back to the phone.

"I've only been on a train once ever since they were created in 1604."

"I'm not surprised. I imagined you use your ability to teleport everywhere."

"That's not the reason; I just have an uneasy feeling whenever I see one of these things. I guess it's because I watched them become common and developed my own feelings towards them."

"It's still hard to think you're that old. Even with the world progressing at a slow pace."

"I've seen a lot."

That's when Toktio noticed a train entering the station. It sounded like running water. This was quickly followed by a loud screeching sound as the train reduced its speed rapidly. It flung past Turner and Tokito with a gust of wind, causing their suits to flutter in the air.

The contractors in the seats got up, realizing it was their train, and Tokito stopped leaning on the wall. When the glossy gray train came to a stop, they all entered the train. As Toktio reached for his ticket, he looked around and noticed almost all the seats were filled. Finally, Tokito looked at the train ticket and said, "I'm in the 15th railcar; seat 12."

"We're all in the 7th." Turnner replied, staring at Tokito.

"Well, I guess I'll see y'all at the station then."

"God willing." Turnner answered as he and the other three contractors made their way to their seats.

As Turnner made his way through several vehicles. He kept noticing a yellow and black cube box marked Honey Delite with a bottle of honey next to the writing. It was always placed close to the door, but Turnner ignored it. Finally, he arrived at seat 26 and sat next to the window. There was no one sitting next to him, and the other contractors sat in their designated seats.

Turnner stared out the window at the neighborhood quickly passing by and the occasional farm field. It was going to be a long ride, so after a few minutes, Turnner's eyes began to shut down, and he drifted off to sleep.

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

Eight explosions sounded throughout the Train. Sending everyone in Turnner's vehicle into a panic. They looked around at each other, murmuring as they wondered what the explosions were. Then the windows were clouded with a thick fog of smoke that seemed to be coming from a vehicle further up the Train.

On seeing this, the contractors got off their seats, and one of them said, "Everyone who came down were contractors from the agency."

The people looked around at them as the man held his badge in the air. Then he told one of the men to wake Turnner from his sleep. The man rushed to Tunner's seat and began tapping him, saying, "Mr. Turnner, wake up." He began shaking him, "Mr. Turnner," but Turnner would not budge; he was in a deep sleep.

The man who had held his badge in the air turned to the other guy and said, "Go to the driver and tell him to slow down the Train." However, when he went to the doors, they wouldn't open, and the same went for the door on the other end of the railcar.

***

Meanwhile, Tokito sat calmly in his seat. His rail car didn't have many people, so there wasn't any confusion. There was one guy on a call with the emergency services, and everyone surrounded him. Toktio, however, was focused on the cube box Turnner had noticed. He saw them at the front of every rail car and thought they might be responsible for the explosions.

"BOOM!"

Toktio raised his head and looked around, startled by the explosion. Then he glanced at the glass in the door of his rail car. He could see that the vehicle just 1 space from his was engulfed in flames. That's when he realized the railcars were exploding. The people in the railcar that was in front of his rushed to the door, banging it down for it to open, but it wouldn't. And that's when Tokito shouted, "Everyone get out of the back of the rail car Now!"

They looked around at him as if he were mad, but some followed.

"Now!" He shouted.

"BOOM!" The railcar in front of him exploded.

And Toktio Shouted, "Clean Cut!" His body was sliced in half, and simultaneously, the railcar was sliced in half, causing the half they were in and the one behind it to turn off the track. Leaving the other half with the cube box. As the vehicle turned over and skidded on the plain grass field. The other half exploded. And at the same time, Turnner's vehicle and the driver's railcar exploded, causing Turnner and many others to get flung far into the air.

The explosion was the last straw, and the whole train proceeded to derail and turn over. And the remaining rail cars that didn't explode. explosion, leaving the whole train engulfed in fire. On a green pasture.
