Kapitel 250: Chapter 250: Another Wager

As Christmas approached, Hogwarts finally ushered in the Christmas holidays. For all the students, this was undoubtedly exciting news, and everyone was eager to go home for Christmas.

On the day of departure, the Hogwarts Express was quickly filled with students. Albert, Fred, George, and Lee Jordan managed to secure an empty compartment amidst the crowded crowd.

"Next time, we should come early," Albert sat in his chair, watching the students surging towards the entrance of the compartment, feeling pretty good.

Approaching eleven o'clock, the train finally started moving forward slowly.

Albert leaned his chin on his hand, gazing at the rapidly receding scenery outside the window. Beside him, the Weasley twins had just finished a round of wizard chess, and George, who had lost the game, was being forced by Fred to try a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean with a chili flavor.

"We now have 67 club members," Lee Jordan pulled out a notebook from his pocket and reported on the Wizard Chess Club's situation in the first half of the semester. "Currently, there are 39 students without their own Wizard Chess sets."

"Wow, I didn't know. The Wizard Chess Club already has so many members." Fred exclaimed upon hearing Jordan's number.

"I feel like we're becoming the largest club at Hogwarts." George said, planning to discreetly dispose of the chili-flavored bean.

Fred glared at George, warning, "Don't think about throwing it away. I'll make sure you eat it."

"We are already the biggest club at Hogwarts, but..." Lee Jordan's tone shifted, and he helplessly said to Albert, "There are still quite a few issues with the club."

"What issues?" George tried to divert Fred's attention, looking for a chance to throw away the bean.

"Our Wizard Chess is just too simple, as you all know. Many people aren't satisfied with these rough cards." Lee Jordan took out a self-made card and gave the three an example. "Compared to Exploding Snap, our cards can be a bit boring. They often require players to have a bit of patience and strategic thinking."

"You're too impatient." Albert understood Lee Jordan's point and reminded with a smile, "If you want Wizard Chess to become a popular card game in the wizarding world, you need enough patience and confidence. Pushing out everything interesting all at once is likely to exhaust everyone. Complex and varied cards also require players to spend more time adapting. All of this needs to accumulate gradually over time."

Lee Jordan pursed his lips, finding it difficult to understand why Albert didn't vigorously promote Wizard Chess. In his view, this year was the best opportunity to make most Hogwarts students aware of the existence of Wizard Chess and attract more members to the Wizard Chess Club.

"Don't rush. Listen to what Albert has to say. His reasons are always more convincing than your suggestions." George pushed a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans in front of Lee Jordan, and he also grabbed one and tossed it into his mouth. As for the chili-flavored one, George had secretly mixed it into the box.

"Albert is too busy. He rarely puts his mind into Wizard Chess." Lee Jordan believed that if Albert was willing to put more effort into Wizard Chess, the optimization of the cards would surely progress faster.

"No, mate, this is our Wizard Chess, our four-person Wizard Chess. You can't just push everything onto Albert." Fred picked up a chili-flavored bean from the box and placed it in front of George. The latter knew he couldn't escape, so he gritted his teeth and threw it into his mouth, swallowing it directly.

"Mate, you're too hasty." George made a face at Fred, then turned to Lee Jordan and said, "You know, the problem isn't with Albert."

This was also something that left them feeling helpless. None of the three could keep up with Albert's pace, resulting in Albert having to handle most things on his own. However, the things he needed to deal with were simply too numerous.

"Listen, you guys need to understand that a game must withstand the test of time to truly be accepted by people," Albert said without anger. He knew that Fred, George, and Lee Jordan hadn't considered these things.

"And even if we complete Wizard Chess, what can we really achieve? Do you think a few underage wizards can safeguard this wealth?" Albert reminded them again, "Once Wizard Chess becomes well-known in the wizarding world, people will start copying and bootlegging these cards, just like the dung bombs. You can't stop merchants who know how to make dung bombs from counterfeiting them."

The three of them were also stunned; they hadn't thought about these issues.

"So, we need to label our Wizard Chess, just like Galleons, so that each Wizard Chess card has its own label and can't be copied by others. I want others to be able to tell at a glance the difference between authentic and counterfeit cards. But to achieve this, we need a lot of spells as technical support."

"So, our main task now is to steadily expand the player base, gradually make people accept Wizard Chess, and make them realize that Wizard Chess is not just Wizard Chess. Being too hasty won't work, do you understand?"

Lee Jordan looked puzzled and wasn't sure if he had understood. He never had as many concerns as Albert, and most kids lacked patience.

"Mate, your noggin definitely doesn't work as well as Albert's, so in some aspects, it's not a bad idea to listen to him." Fred patted Lee Jordan's shoulder and handed him a gray Every Flavor Bean, then continued, "You should also realize that Albert is smarter than us and better at dealing with these things. Since fooling around on our own will only make things worse, why not listen to Albert's advice?"

"Don't feel down. When you become this year's top student...," George's words hadn't finished when Lee Jordan interrupted him.

"Alright, I know I'm not as quick-witted as Albert." Lee Jordan handed the Every Flavor Bean back to Fred, turned his head to look at Albert, sighed, and changed the topic to ask about another matter, "Did your Patronus Charm work?"

"Patronus Charm?" Albert glanced at Lee Jordan and continued to look out the window, contemplating the issue. He quickly opened the skill panel and glanced at the Patronus Charm skill on it. It had just reached level 1, and he probably couldn't summon a corporeal Patronus directly.

After thinking for a moment, Albert raised the Patronus's level to 2. After all, he would still need to try to communicate with his Patronus.

"Why do you guys care about this?" Albert asked in return.

"We're betting on what your Patronus is. If we lose, we have to eat some special-flavored Every Flavor Beans," Fred said, taking out a small box from somewhere. Inside were quite a few oddly colored Every Flavor Beans, which looked stomach-churning.

"Dirt flavor, earwax flavor, chili flavor, vomit flavor, toilet paper flavor, booger flavor..." Lee Jordan enthusiastically introduced these oddly colored Every Flavor Beans to Albert.

"Stop, you guys are betting to eat these awful things if you lose?" Albert quickly stopped Lee Jordan and looked at him with an odd expression. He hadn't expected that there was also a ruthless person in the dormitory who could recognize so many flavors of Every Flavor Beans.

"How are you betting?" Albert asked calmly.

"Fred and George believe that your Patronus is likely related to an eagle. If a Patronus related to an eagle appears, I have to eat half of these Every Flavor Beans. If it's not, then each of them has to eat three, and they can't spit them out." Lee Jordan pointed to the box of Every Flavor Beans and explained.

After listening to the three's wager, Albert's face twitched involuntarily.
