After Albert left the Headmaster's office, the portraits, which had pretended to be asleep, became lively and started discussing the recent events.
"That boy seems very... clever," the bald wizard in the portrait above the desk suddenly spoke up. "His way of speaking and acting doesn't match that of a twelve-year-old boy. Even adult wizards wouldn't be as composed as him in such a situation."
"Mr. Anderson is indeed smart and... extraordinary," Dumbledore's glasses glinted with an unusual light as he spoke softly. "Of course, he's also very confident."
Yes, Albert was confident.
"I think he already anticipated this outcome," the curly-haired witch next to the bald wizard spoke. "He clearly understands the value of the Gold Card and knows that Hector wouldn't easily give it up."
"Clearly," Dumbledore agreed.
Albert naturally understood the value of that Gold Card and knew that Hector wouldn't give it up easily. For an alchemist, that item was incredibly important.
A frail-looking old wizard with a goatee and dressed in a silver-green nightshirt said without hesitation, "I don't quite like him."
"What surprised you, Phineas? Is it because he's a Muggle-born wizard or because of his final words?" A shrewd-looking witch raised a rough wand made of birch and asked.
"What did I just say?" Phineas covered a yawn, pretending that he had just woken up and forgot what he said.
Continuing this topic wouldn't be beneficial for him.
"That boy possesses strong magical talent and exceptional abilities, which don't resemble those of a Muggle-born," a weakly-constituted old wizard added.
"He is a Muggle-born, Armando," Dumbledore said calmly. "However, if we trace back a few generations, he is related to the Smith family."
"The famous Smith family?" The former headmaster looked somewhat surprised; he knew a bit about the mysterious Smith family.
"Yes, I believe so," Dumbledore replied. "Last term, I specifically checked his records. Albert's grandfather was a squib, and his father was a Muggle, but Albert himself is undoubtedly a rare magical genius."
"I seldom hear you use 'genius' to describe someone." The curly-haired old witch remarked.
Dumbledore wanted to say that the boy might become the next him—a lion-hearted, wise Gryffindor.
"Mr. Anderson surpasses me in many ways," Dumbledore didn't hesitate to praise Albert.
"This is probably the most amusing joke I've heard this century," Phineas clutched his stomach, feigning exaggerated laughter.
However, in the Headmaster's office, he was the only one laughing, which made the former headmaster feel rather bored, and the laughter gradually subsided.
"Mr. Anderson has already surpassed many in the field of ancient magical texts." Dumbledore recalled Brod's praise of Albert during their chat: Albert is a genius, indeed.
Especially in the research of ancient magical texts, he possesses an almost natural instinct and effortlessly grasps knowledge that others may not master even in a lifetime.
Since a few months ago, when Albert ventured deep into the Forbidden Forest to save Fred and George, Dumbledore's admiration for Albert grew even stronger. He also greatly admired Brod's keen eye.
Without extraordinary courage, wisdom, and strength, one could easily be lost once they ventured deep into the Forbidden Forest.
The outer area of the Forbidden Forest wasn't dangerous, but the deeper parts were!
"The Smith family has always produced some geniuses; there's nothing strange about it," Phineas shrugged.
Though he was unwilling to admit it, the Smith family's history was indeed older than that of the Black family. It was a very mysterious family.
As for why the Smith family was considered mysterious?
Even members of the Smith family didn't know why they were considered mysterious.
The outside world knows very little about these matters. Only those who have lived long enough and are wise enough wizards have a chance to discover some clues over the long years.
Rumors say that someone from the Smith family will inherit the so-called secret. As for who that person is? No one has ever known.
But, there has always been such saying.
However, it is precisely through this peculiar inheritance method that the secrets of the Smith family are preserved.
Yet, no one knows what secrets the Smith family is hiding.
If you were to ask the direct heir of the Smith family? They could only helplessly say, "I don't know either!"
"That family has indeed produced many outstanding wizards," Dumbledore nodded, agreeing with Phineas's point. Rowena, for instance, was a direct descendant of the Smith family. "I recall... Brod and Rowena have a good relationship."
Hector mentioned that Brod's circle was extensive, and he wasn't wrong. The most famous wizards in Britain and even Europe were acquainted with them and maintained friendly relations.
However, it was a loose association, and most people usually remained neutral. To enter this circle, one had to demonstrate astonishing talent in certain aspects, catch their attention, and maintain contact through correspondence.
As for why Dumbledore knew about it?
That was because he was also a member of this circle.
Before graduating from Hogwarts, Dumbledore got to know many famous wizards and received help from them. They maintained friendly correspondence. It wasn't until Dumbledore joined the Wizengamot that he faintly saw the formidable influence of this vast and loosely connected circle.
If they were willing, the combined influence of these people could directly determine a verdict in the highest court of the Wizengamot or make a poorly performing Minister of Magic step down.
Though they had never done such a thing, perhaps precisely because they hadn't, nobody had noticed this issue.
But Dumbledore did.
Because he maintained good relations with almost half of the members of the Wizengamot.
The topic of the conversation in the portraits of the Headmasters was brought back.
"That boy seems to dislike the Ministry of Magic."
"It indeed is the Ministry of Magic's problem, Euphemia. If it were me, I would be angry too."
"I thought you were the one among us with the best temperament, Doris."
"Having a good temperament doesn't mean being weak," Doris replied. "I support his actions. I reckon that the Chief of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office also has some issues."
"But he seems to be planning to make the Chief of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office step down directly." This was what Euphemia didn't like.
"No, he's just making Hector state the facts," Dumbledore smiled. "She will agree to apologize. As Anderson said, it's the most inexpensive solution."

Things went even more smoothly than Albert expected.
However, this time, there was no appearance of a task panel, which surprised Albert. In the past, whenever something like this happened, there would usually be a task panel first. Why did it feel a bit... strange?
Albert stopped in front of the portrait of Fat Lady and checked the task panel. As expected, there was only that annoying "return lost gold" task.
"Do you want to come in?" the impatient Fat Lady couldn't help but ask.
"Oh, sorry. The password is 'singer'," Albert said the password, and the portrait of Fat Lady spun open, revealing a hidden passage behind.
As soon as Albert entered the common room, he heard someone calling him.
It was George.
He was watching Fred and Lee Jordan play Wizard Cards at a nearby table.
"How's it going?" Albert asked.
"George and I became Chasers, Angelina also became a Chaser smoothly, Wood is the Keeper, and Charlie is the Seeker," George said. "The other two Seeker substitutes are Katie Bell from the first year and Cormac McLaggen, who's considered a Keeper substitute. By the way, what did Dumbledore want from you?"
"The last time that thing happened. But Mr. Hagrid agreed to help me solve the problem," Albert explained casually and then turned to the girl next to him. "Congratulations on getting what you wanted, Angelina."
"Thank you," Angelina smiled, "But I didn't expect you not to join."
"I had other things to do," Albert said.
"Alicia's flying is pretty good," Angelina patted her friend on the shoulder, "Unfortunately, if she had practiced with us last semester, she would definitely become an official player this year."
"If she practices more this year, she'll be able to play next year," Albert paused and added, "I remember Katie Bell is a girl, right? It seems that the Gryffindor Quidditch team will have a lot of girls on the field for quite some time. I dare say that this is an extremely rare situation."
"Indeed," George nodded in agreement, "But when the time comes, everyone will be on the field, and you'll still be a substitute."
"Isn't that great? I can take it easy," Albert joked, "But I know someone who might be a substitute for a long time."
"Who?" George asked.
"Cormac McLaggen."
When Albert mentioned this name, he noticed someone looking in their direction. Albert turned his head and saw Cormac McLaggen.
"Why?" George asked, puzzled.
"Idiot!" Albert reminded him, "Wood will be the next Quidditch captain, and his position as Keeper will probably last until he graduates. There's no need to pick a substitute for that position. However, I guess Charlie wants a Seeker substitute just in case, to prevent the same thing that happened last year from happening again."
"That makes sense," Fred chimed in, "Wanna play a round?"
"Sure!" Albert said, "But my cards are in the dormitory."
"I wasn't talking to you. Go and stay on the side," Fred waved his hand dismissively at Albert, "Now, no one wants to play cards with you. You go develop more cards. There are still too few cards right now."
"I'll make my own deck another day," Angelina took the cards handed to her by Lee Jordan, "This game is much more fun than Gobstones, but the cards are a bit rough."
"Mm, after all, it's still in the early stages," Albert asked, "Do you want to join the Wizard Cards Club?"
"What's that?" Angelina looked a bit surprised.
"Well, it's exactly what it sounds like, a casual club," Albert pointed to the few of them around and said, "Currently, there are only four of us."
"What is this club for?" Angelina asked curiously, "To play Wizard Cards together?"
"Well, how should I put it?" Albert thought for a moment before answering her question, "It's a club for Wizard Cards enthusiasts. We meet once every last weekend of the month. We update our card library and announce more refined rules for the Wizard Cards game, that's it."
"Did you just decide this?" Lee Jordan asked.
"No, I decided it on the train," Albert shook his head.
"Why didn't I know?" George didn't believe it.
"I didn't mention it at that time, to promote this game was an inevitable process," Albert continued to make up stories.
"Don't listen to him nonsense, Albert is definitely trying to fool you again," Fred played his card and said to Angelina, "It's your turn."
"As expected," Lee Jordan made a knowing expression.
"You guys continue, I have something to do. If you have any suggestions regarding the game, write them down," Albert then looked at Alicia, who was watching the two play cards, and asked, "Do you want in too?"
"Want what?" Alicia didn't understand Albert's words.
"Your own set of cards," Albert explained.
Alicia was surprised, "Is that okay?"
"Of course, wait a moment," Albert returned to the dormitory and quickly filled out a card for Alicia.
The effect was as follows: Substitute: Whenever a Quidditch player card is sent to the graveyard, gain 1 health point.
"Why didn't you add any attacks?" Fred couldn't help but complain.
"The game needs to remain balanced. Anyway, you guys continue, I have to go to the Transfiguration Club," Albert didn't forget about the Transfiguration Club, though he was already late, he still had to go.
"See you later. When you come back, stop by the kitchen and get some late-night snacks," Fred suddenly shouted at Albert.
"That's not on my way," Albert rolled his eyes and walked out of the entrance to the common room.
When he arrived at the sixth floor of the castle and stood at the door of classroom 21, the Transfiguration Club had already been going on for more than half an hour.
Albert hesitated for a moment, knocked on the wooden door, and then pushed it open.
The number of chairs in the Transfiguration Club was reduced by one, and some members had been replaced.
In addition to Katrina, Diego also joined the Transfiguration Club.
"Have a seat, Mr. Anderson. We were just in the middle of a discussion," Professor McGonagall turned her head to look at Albert, motioning for him to sit down.
Albert walked towards Field, took the empty armchair, and looked at Katrina and Diego. Katrina was using a simple wooden chair, while Diego was using a three-legged stool.
Compared to others, it was quite humble.
But considering their level of Transfiguration, it was already pretty good.
Professor McGonagall was explaining Transfiguration techniques. She turned a chair into a dachshund and had it run in circles.
This was a very advanced Transfiguration magic, and it was a bit challenging for the newly joined members. Both Katrina and Diego looked a bit bewildered.
