CHAPTER 30: DEMON GENERAL
A few weeks passed by, Noctis and Faye had barely left their inn. The rest of the group would have been worried, but they dropped by occasionally. The group was however still confused as they always looked tired. Faye and Noctis were currently at the inn right now as it was early in the morning.
Faye shook around wildly usually it would be in enjoyment lately however this was due to annoyance. She threw herself around on the bed "Noctis when are we going to do something? Let's just fight the demon general. It's the only way we are going to get some fun quests that will lead us on an adventure."
Noctis put his clothes and armor on as he got ready for the day "Who knows, maybe today will be different. Let's head to the guild even I think we have been in here too long."
The duo made it to the guild and walked inside. When they entered, they saw Kazuma, Megumin, and Darkness standing by a table where Aqua seemed to be crying and having a mental breakdown. Faye smiled "Maybe today will be a little different."
The duo walked by the rest and heard Darkness say, "Maybe you have gone a bit too far Kazuma."
Kazuma looked down at Aqua in disgust. Noctis walked by and shrugged "Honestly it looks like she is faking it." Aqua started to fake cry even more "Why is everyone against me?!?!?"
Luna the guild clerk yelled interrupting the group" Emergency, Emergency, Emergency!! All guild adventurers are requested to report to the west gate! An enemy is at the west Gate!!"
Noctis smirked "I told you Faye something interesting was going to happen." He continued "Faye get on top of the west gate walls and just be ready. When I give you the signal shoot whatever it is in the head."
Faye smiled "Gladly."
All the adventurers began to run to the west gate. Kazuma was slightly freaking out "What could be the reason everyone needs to come?"
Noctis shrugged as they ran "Who knows it's not like someone was dumb enough to blow up the castle to the west of here right?"
Kazuma's eyes slightly widened as he mentally started to freak out "Why would that matter?" Noctis chuckled "Didn't you know? There was a city-wide ordnance not to go near that castle, that demon general that made it so all the weak monsters left lives there now. That castle is effectively the Demon Generals home. Only an idiot or someone crazy would start to blow that place up."
Kazuma dryly chuckled "Right only an idiot."
After a few moments all the adventurers who could made it over to the west gate entrance. A hundred yards in front of them stood a headless horse in an all-black armor. On top of the horse stood a man in similar all black armor but his head was missing. Well not necessarily missing as he was holding his head in his left arm. He was a Dullahan.
The Dullahan spoke "I am the Dullahan of the Demon King. His General Beldia. I demand answers." He continued after a moment as all the adventurers stayed quiet. He seemed more frustrated as he spoke "WHO KEEPS BLOWING UP MY CASTLE!!!!!"
He then began to talk about how someone has been blowing up his castle every day. Noctis leaned over to Kazuma "Please tell me you did not let Megumin blew up that castle every day." Kazuma grimaced "We might have been practicing her magic at the castle since…it seemed… (he sighed) ... abandoned."
Noctis sighed "Don't worry I have a plan." He walked next to Aqua "Hey Aqua when I give the signal use your holy magic to damage him alright." Aqua tilted her head "Are you sure?" Noctis smirked "Ill buy all your beers later." Aqua had a wide grin and gave a thumbs up "Done."
Noctis looked up at Faye who was looking at him waiting for his signal he waved around one of his throwing knives. She immediately started to get ready. Noctis winded his arm back and threw his throwing knife intending on hitting Beldia's head. On instinct Beldia blocked the throwing knife with his sword "Who dares!"
Noctis stepped forward with a smug look "I dare obviously." Beldia chuckled " I admire your courage, but you think you can attack me with a single throwing knife?" Noctis shook his head "It was just a distraction." Beldia was confused "A distrac...…'
Before he could finish an arrow lodged in his head and his head was shot out of his hands. It stuck to the ground a few feet in front of his horse and body. Beldia was confused "What the…." Noctis quickly looked to Aqua "Aqua now!!!"
Aqua started to glow in holy energy she laughed wildly "You messed up for attacking the town I live in you filthy undead. Turn Undead!"
A large holy pillar of energy came crashing down on Beldia. Noctis wanted a quick follow up "Megumin use your explosion magic there too." Megumin was confused "Are you sure?" Noctis quickly said "Yes he's a demon general best not to give him a chance to recover."
Megumin nodded as fiery energy flowed around here "I the member of the…." Noctis interrupted her "Lets save the speech for later just fire the magic." Megumin frowned but yelled out "Explosion."
A large explosion started to emanate from Beldia as the magic completely covered the area, he was in. The whole area shook as the magic began to fade. From the smoke a form was slowly showing as Beldia stood tall, but his armor had a ton of scratches and dents. Aqua was shocked "OH no, are spells did not work." Noctis face palmed as he promised himself to whip them into shape. This was a real world now he could kill everyone here if they did not win. Beldia started to have magic gather around him as well.
Beldia looked at the group with crazed eyes "You know you are supposed to fight the minions before you get to the Boss."
A ton of portals opened on the ground as heads slowly began to raise of skeletons and zombies. Noctis pointed his open right hand at the area "Null." He stopped the spell causing a ton of skeleton and zombie heads rolled on the ground.
Beldia looked down to see all the heads rolling around he started to stomp his feet around "This is not how you are supposed to fight."
Noctis sighed thinking 'Maybe this world is not as dangerous as I thought. It seems to be just like the anime. Maybe I should relax and just get some new abilities when I can. Let's just end this.'
Noctis yelled out "Four strong melee fighters charge him." Immediately four large men began to ran at Beldia. Beldia began to laugh "You all will be the first to die."
He then tossed his head up in the air. Noctis turned towards Kazuma "Cast steal on the helmet." Kazuma got a smirk as he understood immediately. He casted steal and there was a silence on the battlefield. All that could be heard was Beldia saying "Oh….No…."
Noctis grabbed Beldias head and gave it a little toss. He got in a fighting stance as he grabbed his axe right when Beldias head reached the perfect height and Noctis unsheathed his axe and cut Beldias head in half. Beldia screamed in pain and began to turn to dust along with his body. Silence took over the battlefield again. Noctis put his axe back in his sheath he smirked "Lets Party!!"
Back at the guild. Everyone began to party and drink celebrating the defeat of one of the Demon Kings Generals. Noctis felt a buzz on his phone, so he decided to step out for a second. He looked at his phone and seeing a new message.
World Mission Update
World Mission Complete: Kill a Demon King General
The host has completed the world mission for the world Konosuba. A host can now travel to the next world. Which has already been designated.
Noctis shrugged, he was honestly ready to move on. He did, however, want to come back later he thought of this world as a good break. Noctis walked in and whispered into Faye's ear. They ended up saying goodbye to everyone and that they would be back tomorrow to discuss the reward. They went to their apartment.
Noctis nodded "So you are okay with going to the next world too?"
Faye nodded "It's definitely fun here maybe we could come back later but I want a real adventure or at least a challenge."
Noctis completely agreed with her "Okay I will press the button then."
Noctis looked down at his phone and pressed a button from a world list.
It went.
GOBLIN SLAYER
KONOSUBA
NEXT WORLD
The next world button was selected and both Noctis's and Faye's vision were blinded by the light from the phone.
