41.17% Playing Cards In Duel City / Chapter 21: Chapter 20: Ya boy Jay Cant escape(help)

Kapitel 21: Chapter 20: Ya boy Jay Cant escape(help)

After leaving the place, Xuelang embarked on a search for players who had been playing cards all over the city overnight, for the NPC task that required teaming up with other players next morning. However, finding companions proved to be quite challenging.

As previously mentioned, the closed beta had a total of only a few hundred players. In such a vast city, the chances of randomly encountering a player were incredibly slim. Xuelang had been wandering around for hours without coming across any other players.

The night grew darker, and the bustling streets gradually quieted down. The dwindling number of pedestrians consisted mainly of drunks, gangsters, and unpredictable individuals, as well as players. Unlike the NPCs, players didn't need to sleep in the game, and those logging in for the first time didn't have a designated resting place.

During the late hours of the night, players either logged out, stayed in the dueling hall (which remained open all night), or roamed the streets aimlessly, increasing the likelihood of encountering fellow players.

Finally, after wandering for most of the night, Xuelang spotted a player with the same string ID above their head. Excitedly approaching, he discovered that the player's name was "MyChestIsToSmall." To his surprise, Xuelang realized that he had encountered a fellow female player.

Hurrying over, Xuelang exclaimed, "hey, are you a player?"

….

The girl turned her head, revealing long hair and big eyes, radiating a cute and charming appearance. "Are you a player?" she asked.

"Yes, finally, I've met someone after wandering around for so long. I thought I was playing a single-player game," Xuelang replied, relieved.

"Haha, yes, considering the limited number of players now," the girl responded with a smile.

"Would you like to play together? I happen to have a task..." Xuelang suggested.

Just then, a rough male voice chimed in, "What's going on here?"

Following the voice, Xuelang spotted a male player emerging from around the corner. The ID above his head read "I_canRubWell"

Xuelang muttered to himself, "Seriously?"

The girl turned to explain, "Oh, that's my boyfriend..."

"...Just passing by," Xuelang quickly interjected with a forced smile. "Well, you two enjoy your game. I have a task to attend to, so I'll take my leave!"

Without waiting for their response, Xuelang hurriedly left, not interested in being a third wheel in their game. After all, why should he subject himself to such a situation, he didn't want to feel lonely.

Isn't it true that being single shouldn't hinder one's ability to enjoy playing games?

Xuelang continued his journey, growing increasingly frustrated as the night wore on. The streetlights gradually extinguished, casting the city into darkness. Xuelang couldn't help but shiver, impressed by the game's incredible level of realism. It even managed to capture the unease of walking through a city at night.

After an unknown period of time, Xuelang finally encountered his next companion. This time, it was a male player with a round face and nearly bald head, wearing black-framed glasses.

Xuelang examined the ID above the player's head and realized it said, "JayJay Cant Escape." Even though the name was weird, Xuelang brushed it off, thinking, "What a lack of creativity." But that didn't matter.

Eagerly stepping forward, Xuelang greeted the player, "yo, are you interested in doing quests together?"

The player turned his head and asked, "Hmm? What mission?"

"It's a special NPC quest. It seems to be part of a series," Xuelang explained. "He wants me to find individual players to team up with and meet him at dawn."

"Oh? A series quest?" his eyes lit up behind his glasses.

At this early stage, the available quests for beginners were quite limited. The most efficient way to level up seemed to be playing cards with others in the dueling arena. By accumulating wins, players unlocked new quests as their levels increased.

Encountering a series quest at this point was quite rare.

JayJay Cant Escape responded, "What's the reward for the mission? Is it worth it?"

"In my last quest, I had to provide him with a fusion card, which I redeemed using a beginner's ticket. The reward was a few hundred experience points," Xuelang answered.

JayJay Cant Escape paused for a moment, his expression clearly conveying his thoughts—only a few hundred experience points in exchange for a beginner's card coupon fusion?

This NPC seemed quite unbalanced...

Coughing, he patted Xuelang's shoulder. "Bro, I think this NPC might have some issues. You may not be familiar with gaming, but some game developers enjoy creating tasks that are complex, but offer insignificant rewards, and are simply pitiful for players, is like a troll."

"But the NPC's name is Yuyu," Xuelang pointed out. "And the card deck revolves around elemental heroes."

"... Wait, did you say he used elemental heroes?" JayJay Cant Escape's excitement was palpable. His analytical mindset kicked in, and his face lit up with curiosity.

"This is definitely a hidden plot!" he declared. "Moreover, it likely ties into the later development of the GX storyline!"

Slapping Xuelang's shoulder with enthusiasm, he said, "Consider this my debt to you for hooking me up with such a quest. From now on, we're friends. If you need any help, just let me know! I'll do my best to assist you."

"No problem, JayJay Cant Escape!"

"Don't call me that. Just call me Jay," Jay waved his hand dismissively.

"Okay!"

Xuelang thought to himself, it seemed like he had found a good buddy who valued playing. Xuelang felt that his journey as a duelist was off to a promising start.

...

The next morning, Yuyu woke up early and descended the stairs yawning. To his surprise, China was already busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

It seemed to be a daily occurrence—no matter how early he woke up, China was always awake, and a steaming breakfast would be ready on the table. Yuyu couldn't help but wonder if China was secretly a robot that didn't require sleep.

After washing up and joining China at the table, Yuyu couldn't help but glance out the window.

China noticed You Yu's anticipation and asked, "Are you waiting for someone today?"

"Yes, that's right," Yuyu confirmed.

As expected, around 6:30, Xuelang appeared outside the store, accompanied by a new player as planned. Yuyu cast a quick glance through the window and felt a strange sense of familiarity with the round face, bald-like hairstyle, black-framed glasses, and even the sly expression on the person's face. Where had he seen this face before?

Then, he noticed the ID above the player's head...

...Jay Jay can't escape??
