Xianwu's voice quivered as he demanded, "Where is the shooter?" His fingers clenched around the hilt of his sword, its point hovering menacingly at the center of her throat.

"Why not inquire of your father about that matter?" Court Lady Donggu countered calmly.

Confusion clouded Xianwu's expression. "What do you mean?" he pressed.

"General Lee, at the behest of the Grand Empress Dowager, brought the shooter in the palace. Unfortunately, I lack further details," replied Court Lady Donggu, requesting Xianwu to lower his sword.

Xianwu realized that the entire military was with the Grand Empress Dowager, not with the Emperor since his own father joined hands with the enemies.

He leaned in, his voice a hushed plea, "I can spare your life, Lady Donggu, under one condition. We must both vow never to reveal this encounter to anyone, ensuring the safety of your daughter and her family. Can I trust you with this secret?"
