The pale hues of dawn stretched across the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. The serene stillness of the early morning air enveloped the small clearing where three young Genin stood in anticipation. Tekku, Hana Inuzuka with her three Ninken, and Haruto Yamada waited eagerly for their Genin Test to commence. Haruto kept a bit of distance from the other two, ignoring every attempt from them to talk to him.
The clock struck 7 a.m., the appointed time for their Genin Test to begin. As the sun peeked over the treetops, casting its warm glow on the clearing, a gust of wind rustled the leaves, and a figure materialized before them. It was Inoichi Yamanaka, their Jonin Sensei. Tall and composed, with piercing blue eyes and his ash blond hair bound in a ponytail, Inoinchi exuded an air of quiet authority.
"Good morning, team," Inoinchi's voice resonated with calm confidence as he stood in front of them. "Are you ready for your Genin test?" he asked, looking at them.
"Good morning, Sensei," said each of them as they nodded, waiting in anticipation to finally find out what their test would entail.
Inoichi pulled out a clock and placed it on a tree stump in the clearing. "I've set this alarm clock to go off at noon. The entire training ground, including the surrounding woods and river, is our playing field. You may use whatever you have at your disposal. Attack with the intent to kill, or you'll have no chance," he explained with a smile, setting the clock down. "All you have to do to pass is to catch me. You only need to grab me, and you will have passed."
"But Sensei, you could get hurt if we come at you with the intent to kill," shouted Haruto, confused, as he touched the katana at his side.
"He is a Jonin. If we really manage to hurt him, then something must be wrong with the Ninja Ranking System," sighed Tekku, shaking his head and pulling one of his scrolls out.
"Shut up! I didn't talk to you!" shouted Haruto at Tekku before suddenly rushing at Inoichi with his drawn katana, attempting to grab him with his other hand. "Don't look down on me!"
Inoichi had no problem grabbing both of the Genin's arms, stopping his attempt to catch him off-guard. "I didn't say start yet. Well, at least you are taking it seriously now. You can begin! Oh, by the way, I am a clone," he revealed, and with a poof of smoke, their Sensei disappeared.
"Damn it!" shouted Haruto before he rushed into the forest, disregarding the others.
"Hey, wait!" shouted Hana, but her words were ignored as the boy disappeared.
"Troublesome. At this rate, people will think I am related to the Nara clan," Tekku sighed helplessly as now only the two of them remained in the forest. "Since it was only a Shadow Clone, I also lost Sensei with my Chakra string," he muttered as he dropped his hands. The moment their teacher arrived at the clearing, he secretly connected a thin invisible chakra thread to their teacher. But it was useless since their teacher had already expected such a move and sent a shadow clone in his place.
"Can your Ninken track him?" asked Tekku, looking at Hana.
The three Haimaru Brothers smelled the ground where Inoichi's clone had stood and the area around it, trying to find a trail in the grass. They barked and shook their heads in confusion. "They can't find any trail. That's strange; the area of the training ground isn't that big," said Hana, equally confused.
"No, Inoichi Sensei seemed to be prepared for your Ninken. He doesn't want to make things easy for us. Besides their famous Mind jutsu, the Yamanaka's are also known for their knowledge of flowers and plants. They are Konoha's biggest supplier of different herbs. He may have used some plant to cover his tracks from your dogs," explained Tekku as he thought about it. "Let's, for now, follow that hothead. Sensei didn't say he would just hide the whole time. Maybe he can bait him out if he is alone. We can use that opportunity."
The two of them followed the Haimaru Brothers as they tracked Haruto's scent through the green forest. After jumping through the thicket for a while, they spotted Haruto bound by ninja wire to a tree. Instead of rushing directly to him, Tekku signaled Hana to stop in the treetops, hidden from sight.
He unsealed one of his scrolls, and a human-sized wooden puppet appeared beside him. With his knowledge in engineering, he had created a few puppets for different situations. Though he only had limited resources and not much access to powerful tools, the most expensive thing in it were some Kunai and materials for Fuinjutsu, the rest was found in the forest or taken from Scraps, still he managed to create useful puppets like this one: the Crash test Dummy. It was disposable but good for testing traps and could fight longer than a regular Shadow Clone at least with Taijutsu. As a Shadow Clone would disappear after being hit once.
He began to develop his own Puppet style, like Granny Chiyo with her White Style, Sasori with his Red Style and Kankuro with his Black Style. Tekku began to develop the Green Secret Style, though it's move set was very limited right now. But it would expand in the future.
Using a transformation jutsu "Green Secret Technique: Puppet Transformation!", Tekku applied the Academy's transformation jutsu to the puppet by forming the signs and touching the seal on it's back. This was a seal he created himself with the Chakra Storage part of an explosive Tag, and some parts from other seals. He managed to develop a Seal that allowed him to seal Ninjutsu onto a Puppet, although only rudimentary one with a lasting effect like the Bunshin or the Transformation Jutsu. As long there was enough Chakra stored in the Seal, with that seal only the Academy ones worked and few Genjutsu. But he only could transform the Puppet into a Human of similar size, anything more complex would cost too much Chakra. The Puppet looking just like him approached Haruto carefully, while the real Tekku controlled it with invisible strings from a distance. Meanwhile, Haruto looked at the approaching puppet with displeasure. "Hurry up. Make me loose. I need to catch Sensei."
Just as the puppet version of Tekku arrived in front of Haruto, another trap triggered around the puppet's feet, catching it. "Hahaha, you're not so much of a genius. You just got caught like me," gloated Haruto, pleased that he wasn't the only one who fell for their Sensei's trap as the puppet hung from it feet upside down. "Can you free yourself? Or do we have to wait for Hana to find us?"
The puppet looked at Haruto with a deadpan expression, unable to speak. Tekku hadn't figured out a seal that could stick a voice genjutsu to it and transmit information from a distance. He only had pre-defined voice lines for limited situations. Haruto, getting even more frustrated, believed Tekku was ignoring him.
The real Tekku and Hana with her three Ninken kept an eye on the situation from a distance. Tekku did his best to remain hidden suppressing his presence as good as he could, and the presence Hana's three Haimaru Brothers concealed him further. He could feel that Inoichi was somewhere there, watching them and aware of Hana's position. The big question was, did Inoichi see through the ruse, or would he take the bait?
