I'm going through the motions like I'm out of my body, watching a movie. WIll is saying something but I can barely hear him. My mind is miles away, lost in trying to make out the millions of things swarming through it at the same time.

My world has come crashing down on me, and somehow I have to be cruel enough to do the same thing to my siblings. How can I shatter their hearts so badly? This is a blow they will never be able to heal from.

Two days later, I'm still dragging through the motions. I feel nothing. I don't even feel any pain when I cut my finger while chopping onions, and I wonder why Will is so panicked about it.

He's saying something about regretting letting me into the kitchen. I force a smile. Isn't it just a cut? Worse things have happened.

He grabs my hand and leads me to a couch, then he fusses over disinfecting and bandaging the little cut. He holds my shoulder, begging me to look at him.
