Kapitel 35: Lord Maximillian To The Rescue!

Edna started to cry. Not because of the impact of the throwing stones, but because she realized how weak and fragile a human being was, exactly as described by her master.

"Sir… help me…" muttered Edna in a trembling voice.

Even though she knew that help would never come, she still called her master's name softly.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew violently. The violent wind then stopped for a moment as a large shadow shielded Edna from the scorching sun.

Seeing it, Edna mustered up the courage to look up.

A pair of gleaming golden irises were seen. They looked breathtakingly beautiful, while his red hair fluttered like blazing flames.

"It's been more than four days. You didn't keep your promise."

Edna's lips trembled. She didn't know if this was a hallucination projected from her unconsciousness because she was about to die soon or a reality. She couldn't tell the difference.

"S... sir."

In that silence moment, another stone was thrown onto Edna's shoulder. Seeing it, Maximillian growled.

"Who. Dare. To hurt. My servant!" asked Maximillian threateningly.

Everyone in the square hastily took a step back.

Maximillian turned and looked for the man who had thrown a stone at his servant. He could distinctly sense their fear. He knew the thoughts of the lowly humans before him within seconds, and he finally found the man that had thrown stones at Edna.

Maximillian teleported directly to the man, causing everyone there to scream in horror. He did not hesitate to strangle the man with one hand and throw him away.

The man flew and hit one of the walls of the house. All the people in that place shrieked in fear, and the terrified guards forced their trembling legs forward.

"Everyone, step aside! The Prince wants to pass through!"

Maximilian lifted his chin, watching how many men on horseback marched toward the podium in the center of the square.

A man in a spotless white uniform and red cloak with a golden crown on his head smirked at him. Maximilian stood in place while staring at the detestable creature before him.

"As expected, you must be the leader. You have a different aura from the others."

Maximilian paid no heed to the man. He turned around as though not hearing what the man had said. He then found Luca climbing onto the podium to untie the iron chains that bound Edna. The man did it in one tug, and Edna almost fell backward due to her weak body.

Maximillian lowered one of his knees and caught Edna who almost fell on the ground with her head hit first.

"Don't you see I'm talking to you? It seems you are not just an ordinary human. If we can work together, I will spare your subordinate."

Maximilian only glanced back, then lifted Edna's body to stand up straight.

"Can you stand?" he asked.

Edna shook her head. Her legs were too weak to support her body. Luca then came over to help Edna get up.

CLACK!

All the guards in that place pointed their weapons towards the podium.

"Huh… it's strange. This is the first time someone doesn't respond to me. Usually, people would kneel down when talking to me. You're quite a unique one. Are you powerful enough to ignore me?"

Maximilian groaned. Luca could see his master's mood was getting worse. His master would set the square ablaze and kill many innocents if the man who called himself prince kept talking nonsense.

Normally, Luca would have confidently offered himself to sort this out, but after what happened a few days ago, his confidence had hit rock bottom. Being held captive and tortured by humans turned out to affect him quite much.

Moreover, Maximillian had not fully forgiven him, so Luca didn't want to rage the man even more with his rash behavior. He could only lie low and bring Eden away from there.

In this age, Luca hadn't fully mastered his powers either. He had yet to develop his teleportation powers. What he could do right now was to hold Eden tighter, turn into a dragon, and bring her to fly as far as possible.

"My Lord, I ask for your permission to leave the square."

Maximilian took a deep breath. The man observed Edna's sweaty face full of wounds and mud. He then raised his hand unconsciously, wiping the traces of blood on his servant's cheek.

Suddenly, his jaws tightened, then he turned around.

"Meet me at the place we agreed on," Maximillian said, and Luca nodded immediately.

The wind swirled around Luca's and Edna's bodies. The other three prisoners were slightly shifted by it. And in an instant, Luca turned into a medium-sized yellow dragon with lots of pink spots.

One of his wings, which had a burn mark, expanded and drove away the sunrays, casting a large shadow over the podium.

Everyone there was shocked at what they saw.

"D-dragon! It's a dragon!" shouted the people all together. They hastily ran out of the square in fear.

The Prince, who was on top of his horse, tightened his grip on the reins to calm down the panicked horse.

On the podium still stood a man with fiery long red hair. His golden eyes glistened dangerously. He looked unperturbed by the dragon behind him.

The Prince smiled wickedly. And in seconds, his smile turned into a maniacal laugh.

"Ahahahaha! I know it! I know you are not just an ordinary human! Dragon? I know exactly how to beat your kin!"

Troops of swordsmen gathered to protect the group of archers who were ready with their arrows. Yet, Maximillian still stood there, feeling disinterested in the madman in front of him.

"Show me your powers. I heard that a dragon is a creature that can release immense power. I want to see it. I want to see it right now!"

"Luca, you can read the Prince's mind, right?"

"Yes, My Lord."

"Good, then don't get hit by their arrows. I will blast them all."

"But, My Lord-"

"Luca, I'm going to blast them all."

Upon hearing his master's stern voice, Luca eventually relented. He would not be able to hold back the man.

With Edna in his arms, Luca spread his huge wings once again, then gliding so fast that the commander-in-chief behind the Prince wasn't ready to give a signal.

Luca just needed to fly above the clouds. No human arrow would ever penetrate the clouds.
