As the night wore on, the moon slowly began its descent towards the horizon, casting a reddish hue over the Wildwood forest.
The stars began to fade as the first glimmers of dawn approached, signaling the beginning of a new day.
Victor found himself lying on the ground, his eyes slowly adjusting to the growing light.
As he sat up, he realized he was surrounded by the remnants of a bonfire, the charred remains of logs and embers still smoldering in the cool morning air.
"Oh, you're finally awake," a soft voice sounded.
Victor turned around and saw a beautiful girl walking towards him.
His eyes widened with surprise as he saw the girl. "You are... Veronica?" Victor stammered, recognizing her.
"Yes, it's been a while, Victor Redfield. I didn't expect to meet you here. What brought you to a place like this?" Veronica asked, crossing her arms.
A coy grin made its way onto Victor's lips, "Trying to get stronger, perhaps?" His response was light, a little playful, trying to brush off the seriousness of her query.
"By hunting monsters, and endangering yourself?" Veronica asked, narrowing her eyes.
Victor smiled, "A wise man once told me, success comes to those who dare to take risks," He replied, a glint of mischief dancing in his eyes.
Veronica sighed, her arms uncrossing as her stern exterior softened, "That may be true, but it's reckless to face danger without preparation. I didn't come here to play your guardian angel, Victor."
"Yeah, I know. It's my first time entering this forest. But well, I'll note what you said. Next time I'll be the one to help you," Victor shot back, his smirk tinged with promise.
A faint smile graced Veronica's lips, her eyes reflecting a silent acknowledgment. She knelt down next to him, her hand reaching into her satchel and drawing out a lump of green herbs.
"Cobra venom can be lethal if not treated quickly. Apply this to your wound for at least ten minutes," she instructed, her tone shifting to grave concern.
Victor nodded, taking the lump of green herbs and applying it to his wound with gentle strokes.
As he was doing that, he gave Veronica a few glances. Perhaps he was too busy with Candice at school that he didn't realize that Veronica was stunningly beautiful.
Her black hair tied back, the glasses and her cold and strict demeanor… She certainly represented the student council president.
"Now I understand why you are popular in school. Not only beautiful, you are also caring and kind, I imagine how lucky the man who managed to wins your heart," said Victor with a sly grin.
"First of all, Victor, I'm just doing my job as the student council president. And I rather wonder how Candice will react if she saw her boyfriend flirting with another girl," Veronica said, her voice laced with a hint of disapproval.
Victor paused for a moment, then, he smiled bitterly, "Candice is not my girlfriend anymore," he confessed, his voice heavy with unspoken feelings.
Veronica raised an eyebrow. "Did you two break up?" She asked, her curiosity piqued.
"She left me for another guy," Victor said, his voice tinged with a touch of bitterness.
"So, she cheated on you?" Veronica asked, her voice softened.
Victor simply nodded, "Do you know about Julian Steiner? I don't think I need to say more about him."
Hearing Victor's words, Veronica's expression shifted to one of understanding. She certainly knew about Julian Steiner, the son of the esteemed Earl Steiner. She could also grasp what Victor meant. Her expression softened, but also carried a hint of curiosity.
"How could she have an affair with Julian? I know Julian, but you're more..." Veronica suddenly stopped what she was saying, her cheeks flushing with color.
Victor's grin returned, a spark of playfulness back in his eyes, "I'm more what? Handsome? Good looking? Well, I know that compared to the whole school, I am unbeatable," Victor said confidently, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"I didn't say that, you narcissist," Veronica said, a hint blush on her cheeks.
"But you meant to say that," said Victor, teasing her further.
"No, I'm not!" She insisted, feigning annoyance.
"Just admit it, Veronica," said Victor, his voice lighthearted and playful.
"I'm not a naive schoolgirl, Victor!" Veronica retorted sharply, her eyes flashing with mock indignation.
"Really, Veronica? At school, you always put on a cold and indifferent face. But I didn't expect you to still have a cute side," Victor said with a grin.
Veronica's cheeks reddened even more, "What are you talking about? You playboy!"
"You'll probably fall in love with me sooner or later," Victor said with a grin.
"That will never happen!" Veronica retorted, her tone defiant.
Victor relished in the playful banter with Veronica, enjoying the challenge of breaking through her cold exterior.
Despite her initial reluctance, they soon found themselves laughing together, sharing stories and jokes as they watched the dawn break over the horizon...
