(-Third POV-)
It has been one day, and Oberon is still lying on his bed, unconscious, without noticing what kind of chaos he has been causing through the Gekai because of the light that was seen through the sky and the news that one of the gods had been forced back to heaven by a mortal.
The spell 'Banamathr Ooss' cast by Oberon is so powerful that the light manages to reach Orario. Because of that, it causes panic. The people thought that One-Eyed Black Dragon was awake once again, but thanks to the reassurance of the guild, the people of Orario could get calm.
Many people try to find the source of such powerful light that brightens the night sky, but some people who know what magic is are kept silent because they know it was one of the forbidden magics that the Elven race's ancestors created. The ones who knew about the existence of that magic other than Oberon were King Larfal, Hyrmyr, and Riveria.
Somewhere in Orario's and in the manor where the Loki Familia uses as their base, they name it The Twilight Manor. All the executives have a meeting to discuss the light that has been passing through Orario's night sky.
"Did you know what magic that is, Riveria?" Goddess Loki asks.
"Yes…. I know."
"And you insist on not telling me, your goddess, what spells are those?"
"Yes, if anyone knows what spells are, my people will be in danger."
"Hm, I see from what I see that magic spells have some connection with one of the gods that sent me back to heaven that night. I can't shun my eyes and pretend nothing happened. You know that, right, Riveria?"
Loki tries to dig for any information about whoever manages to release such a powerful spell, even though she still doesn't know where the source is, but Loki does have some guesses.
"So Loki-sama, what should we do? It seems like Riveria can't reveal that information; after all, she is the princess of the Elven Kingdom. She still had a responsibility to protect her people."
"Hm, you are right. Finn looks like Riveria can't reveal any information about that magic. All we can do is wait and see; we lack information to reach any conclusion, but I know that whoever casts that spell does not have any bad attention."
"Can I ask why Loki-sama thinks so?"
"Kukukuku Just my gut feeling tells me so."
Then there is a knocking sound coming from the door.
"Come in."
"Then excuse me... Loki-sama, there is a letter sent by Goddess Iduun."
Then the guard gives the letter to Loki. The letter itself was written using God's language to ensure that no one other than God could read it.
Loki read the letter with her eyes open, and after reading a couple of paragraphs, she couldn't hold her chuckle. But after she read the letter, she couldn't hold back her laughter. Her children watching her goddess laugh uncontrolled makes them wonder what is written inside that letter that can make Loki laugh so hard.
"Loki-sama, what is written inside that letter?"
"Haha, fuuh, I never laughed that hard before. Well, Iduun told me that she knows who the god sent back to heaven is, and in this letter, she told me that it was done by a mortal."
((!!))
Everyone was surprised, but not Riveria, because she knew from the beginning she saw that light pass through Orario. At first, she doesn't want to believe that spell is the one she thinks it is; after all, only she, Hyrmr, and her father know how to cast such a spell.
"...and Apophis Familia just got destroyed last night, and as you guess, god, Apophis, the one, was sent back to heaven last night."
Finn is well aware of the conflict between Iduun and the Apophis Familia in Abandon World. They both are in a standoff; neither has had advantages; there must be other people who change everything.
"Is there a name inside the one responsible, Loki-sama? I believe he or she is not Goddess Idunn's child."
"You were right, Finn he/she is not part of Iduun Familia, and goddess Iduun makes a vow to protect the identity of the one responsible; she will visit Orario later for Denatus 2 weeks from now to calm down the gods and goddesses."
"Hm, at least we know for certain that the one responsible is not a bad person. It makes me calm a bit. Whoever can cast such powerful magic from the Abandon World must be a hero-class adventurer Guhahaha."
"Yes, I agree, Gareth... Riveria, did you think the same?"
Riveria keeps silent; she seems to be still thinking about who could be responsible.
"Riveria?"
"Hm, Finn I am sorry, I just consumed my thoughts a bit. Did you ask me something?"
"*sigh* Never mind."
"Now everyone, we put aside last night's incident. Finn, did you find any news about that Elven boy yet?"
"Not yet Loki-sama; he has not yet arrived at Orario."
"Kukukuku I can't wait to meet that Elven boy. I believe he will make this city more interesting."
Finn can help but feel a bit of a headache about what her goddess tried to scheme.
-----
In the heart of Orario stands a tall tower, a statement of power and wealth for whoever lives inside that tower. That is the place where the beautiful goddess Freya lives. She is now standing and watching the buzzing city of Orario in her nightgown while holding a letter sent by one of her friends when she still lived in heaven, and it was from Goddess Iduun herself.
Standing beside her was one of his strongest children; his name was Ottar, and he was now reaching level 5, the highest among her children. Ottar becomes the captain of Freya Familia after Mia Grand leaves Freya Familia.
"Ottar, did Hermes make any moves yet?"
"Yes, Lady Freya, from what Allen observed, Hermes started sending his children outside Orario."
Freya was well aware that Hermes had started to move to find any information about the source of light through the sky that night, either because the guild asked him so or because of his curiosity.
"Oberon, you finally showed your power to everyone, but... to kill a god. *sigh* What have you done, my dear."
That night, Freya was doing her usual thing, watching below, trying to find anyone with an interesting soul color or a talent that could catch her eye. Then she saw a light come from the east that might look like a spear that tried to reach heaven itself. The first thought that crossed her mind was how beautiful it was.
She ordered her children to find the source of that magic, but it was likely from outside of Orario, so she asked one of her children, Hedin. Sadly, he didn't know what kind of magic that was, but Hedin told his goddess that it was likely elven magic. When she heard that, it crossed her mind that it was Oberon. She doesn't have any proof, but she believes no one was brave enough to kill a god.
"Ah~ Oberon I can't wait for you to come to Orario."
After more than 3 years, she still can't forget her encounter with that young High Elf at such a young age who had such talent with bottomless potential he had, and Oberon himself did not have any Falna yet, which made Freya filled with ecstasy. Imagine how strong he could become when he gained his first Falna.
"Lady Freya, what should we do next?"
"Just keep an eye on everyone past that gate; if there is an Elven race with golden hair, report it directly to me. understood?"
"As your command, lady Freya."
"This month, Denatus will be much more interesting."
(-Oberon POV-)
"Hmmm."
Then I tried to open my eyes, and then I saw an unfamiliar ceiling.
"Where am I?"
Then I tried to move my head to look around, Usually, Orstrid is always by my side, but now she is not here in this room.
"That odd?"
Then I look at the big mirror on my left side and see some parts of my hair turn white.
'Hm, it's probably depleted all of my mana; it turns my hair white. *sigh* I hope it's not permanent.'
("Orstrid, can you hear me?")
("Is that you, Master?")
("Yes, I am, and can you bring some food? I feel hungry.")
("Right away, Master!")
"From the sound, she is alright."
That night's battle was pretty fierce; after all, I depleted all my mana to defeat that monster. I am not surprised; after all, it was my first time casting 'Banamathr Ooss' I lack the knowledge to make it more efficient, especially in battle, where I prioritize effectiveness more than efficiency.
After a few minutes, I could hear someone knocking on the door.
"Master, can I come in?"
"It's okay, Orstrid."
Then she opened the door and went inside, bringing some warm food with her, but she was not alone; she went in with Sera and the goddess Iduun.
"Oberon I am glad you are finally awake."
"Sera and goddess Iduun, you have my gratitude for taking care of me when I am unconscious."
"*sigh* You saved my town and my children, so it's obvious we return the favor."
"I guess you were right, goddess Iduun. Sera, can you explain what happened when I was in bed? While I eat the food that Orstrid gives me,
"Sure Oberon Hm, where should I begin…"
Then she told me that I had been unconscious for more than three days. When the fight ended, Orstrid decided to reunite with Iduun Familia, and when Sera saw Orstrid bringing the unconscious white-haired elf, she recognized me instantly. Orstrid told them that I just depleted my mana, which made me fall unconscious and turn my hair white.
After that, Iduun explained to the people of Tein that Apophis Familia had fallen and their god had been sent back to heaven. Thanks to that news, for the whole day, the people of Tein town celebrated the Iduun Familia's victory. Of course, goddess Iduun hid my involvement as her promise.
The prisoners that we saved, are all merchants and slaves that get captured by Apophis Familia when they are heading to Santorio Vega for the child. She was not a child; she was a pallum, so there were 2 humans, 3 Catpeople, and one pallum. Some want to stay here, and some want to head back to their family.
After that, Goddess Iduun told me that she sent a letter to her trusted friends, Loki and Freya, about their battle and hiding my name. She gave the reason that she made a vow to do so, and to calm the god's community, she will join Denatus in Orario to explain what happens.
"And Oberon, your light beem magic manages to reach Orario; it makes Fus panic that night; they think that One-Eyed Black Dragon just got on a rampage again."
"Haha, I am sorry, it's the first time I cast that magic, so I prioritize effectively more than control... It's probably the reason why it was so powerful."
"I see… By the way, is your body fine now, Oberon?"
Then I try to stretch my body, try to leave a bad feeling, and try to do some jumps and cast simple spells.
"Hm, I don't feel any abnormality in my body; just my hair is not back to my normal hair color yet."
"Is that because the spell you cast has a side effect that changes the user's hair color?"
"No, I think it may be because I use all of my mana; it makes my hair turn white."
"I see."
'It makes me worried about how my mother and father react if their son's hair turns white... I can go back with this hair.'
("Orstrid, can you fix my hair color?")
("I don't think Master needs to be worried that it is not permanent; from what I observe, two days from now it will be back to normal.")
("*phew* glad to hear that.")
In two days, I will spend time helping goddess Iduun and this town before I leave this place.
"I think I will leave this place in three days, goddess Iduun. I can't make my mother worry about me for too long."
Somehow, Sera shows a sad expression the same as the goddess Iduun.
"I- I see,… Then what are you going to do in three days?"
"I will keep my promise to help train Sera and clear monsters that pose a threat to this town."
"Okay, then before that, can you take Sera on a date?"
The room's atmosphere becomes silent and awkward.
((….))
"What?"
----
"Why am I here again?"
I am right now sitting on the side of a river that flows in Tein town. This town was surrounded by a natural barrier from a mountain to a river, and thanks to that, this place is safe from a monster outside.
I thought at first I had misheard what Goddess Iduun said, but she repeated what she said, and it was pretty clear that she asked me to take Sera on a date. When I asked why, she told me that she wanted me to do so and that Sera could introduce me to the best place in this town.
"Well, it's not a bad thing to take a spin around the town, and if I refuse, Sera will probably get sad."
Of course, only the two of us will walk together; Orstrid will stay at Iduun Familia. It will be awkward if she takes part in dates. I am right now wearing a green casual elf outfit. Of course, I did try to hide my elven ears with magic to avoid people staring at me.
'But why did people still stare at me, especially a woman? I did something weird on my face... Better ignore it.'
This town is not so bad to live in. I can see children swimming and playing freely on the river because the river stream is not so strong, so children can safely play, and I can see plenty of fish.
"Haaa, so peaceful..."
I notice a beautiful red-haired girl with a skirt behind me.
"You sound like an old man, Oberon."
Then I looked at the sound that called my name, and I saw a girl with long red hair, a red skirt, and a white blouse-like shirt with a medieval touch. This time, she did not bring any weapons with her.
"Sera, is that you?"
"Hm, did I look so beautiful you could recognize me?"
"Yes, you look... more feminine than before, and you lose your hair too; I almost do not recognize you."
Sera looked so much more feminine than before; she always wore hot pants, and she did not use her usual hairstyle.
"Umm, if you stare at me that seriously, it makes me feel embarrassed, you know."
"Ah, sorry, my bad."
"You don't look bad either; it shows the Elven race's way of fashion... Now then, Oberon, I will show you around this town that you will probably like."
"Please show me the way, Sera."
After that, we went around the town. We went to the center of the town, where we could see Tein people busy with their work, we encountered Iduun Familia, who was patrolling the town, and she bought me some treats that she loved. Her name was Samigodtz; it was an apple covered with candy. She said that goddess Iduun loves apples, which is why Tein people try to invent so much delicious food made of apples to please their goddess.
"It's delicious, Sera, hm, I wonder what if I use my homeland apple instead."
"Did Elven Forest apples taste more delicious than this?"
"Yeah, it's sweeter and less juicy. My mother always brings me an apple whenever I spend my time in the library; it helps me to concentrate for some reason."
"If you can please send that apple to Goddess Iduun, she said she wants to taste every apple that is available in this mortal world."
"Yes, I will. Then where do we go next, Sera?"
Then we left the town square, heading to the best town view; it was south of the town square. There was a tower watching over the town, but along the way, Sera seemed to keep silent. She tried to ask something.
"*sigh* Sera Is there something you want to tell or talk about?"
"Hehehe, was my face that easy to read? ...Oberon, I want to ask about something."
"Sure, what is it?"
She has been helping me with my recovery. Orstrid said she helped bring a doctor to help, and she made good friends with Orstrid. Thanks to that, Orstrid helped her train every day when I was still in bed.
"Oberon Aendryr Wishe that was your full name, right? And you must be a noble family of the Elven Kingdom."
'How did she... Ah, probably Goddess Iduun told her my full name. She must have had a good reason for telling Sera my full name. just in case nobody's ear drops."
I cast a sound barrier to make sure no one could ear-drop our conversation.
"Yes, you were right, Sera. I am from a noble family."
"My full name was 'Sera Freig Fultone' My family name was Fultone. I was the daughter of the former queen who ruled this land."
Then she told me about this land former ruler of this land: her mother was the ruler of this land, and her name was 'Hebererta Grieves Fultone'. She had a husband, but she was the direct descendant of the former ruler, so she had the right to inherit the throne.
This land was prosperous for a hundred years; the food was plentiful, the crime was minimal, and the people were diverse. There were cat people, dwarfs, humans, and beast people, but no Elven race because of the dispute with the Elven kingdom, and the Elven were known to look down on other races to make the people of this land have resentment toward the Elven race.
"That changed when the One-Eyed Black Dragon attacked every single city with a dense population. Until now, we still don't know the reason why OEBD attacked my country. Because of that, the people abandoned this land because they feared that the One-Eyed Black Dragon would attack once again. Oberon, did you think I could rebuild this land?"
This land can be rebuilt, and the people of this town are most of the survivors of the calamity who are willing to stay, but only a small number. Anya told me that the people who survived the calamity are still in fear; they are afraid that if they try to rebuild again, the One-Eyed Black Dragon will attack them once again. After more than 6 years, we still don't know why the OEBD attacked this country, and because of that, they speculate that this has been cursed.
"It's not possible for now, Sera."
"What did you mean by 'for now'?"
"After the demise of One-Eyed Black Dragon, it can be possible; fear is the only thing that stops your nation from recovering, and the neighbor's country is too scared to make any ties or try to help because of the same reason."
"I see you think the same as the goddess Freya... But it has been more than a hundred years, and still, no one can defeat that monster. Even the most powerful Familia get wiped out and destroyed when they try to defeat that monster. It is hopeless after all."
From what I know, OEBD is still weak compared to the dragon god Orstred. I did learn that Orstred can destroy a world if he can use his full power, so I can see a chance I can defeat that monster, but I need to know how strong OEBD is.
"Don't worry, Sera, I will find the way to defeat that monster once and for all. You saw yesterday how powerful I am."
I can see Sera cheering a bit.
"Fufufu, yeah, I saw your magic. Goddess Iduun told me that the fight was almost like the fight between two gods, not between a mortal and a god, and your light spear, I heard, managed to reach Orario. The amazing thing is that you still have not yet gained Falna, so I can't even imagine how powerful you can become Oberon; there is a chance that you will surpass Albert Waldstein himself!"
"Until I defeat One-Eyes Black Dragon, you just have to keep protecting your people, and I will do my best to find a way to defeat that monster."
"Thank you, Oberon. Now I will treat you to dinner in the best restaurant in Tein."
----
I spent two days helping goddess Iduun clean up a monster and clearing some remaining Apophis Familia that managed to escape the destruction. From what I learned from goddess Iduun, there is no monster left. Can I be worried because Goddess Iduun said the most dangerous monsters are all gathered in the former capital of this land that I just visited days ago.
That means there is nothing more I can do to help Sera. Strangely, she becomes closer to me whenever we are on a mission, and sometimes she steals a glance into my face. When we are rested, she is always by my side, but she never tries to make contact because she knows the Elven race doesn't like to be touched by other races.
After two days, my hair color was back to normal again, which meant it was time to go back to my home. Of course, I tried to keep my promise to Sera to make her strong, so I gave her a bracelet and drew a gravity magic circle to increase the weight of her training because the monster in Abandon World was too weak. The best decision was to help her with some magic items that could help her training.
"Thank you, Oberon. I will take good care of it."
Only Goddess Iduun, Sera, and Gebhard say goodbye at the gate.
"Once again, I thank you, Oberon, for solving all of our town's problems. Sadly, people don't recognize their real savior."
"It's okay, Goddess Iduun. It will be a problem for both sides if they find out one of the Elven nobles is helping a former queen's daughter."
"Agree and don't worry, I will keep my promise to keep the secret, but fufufu, I believe once you arrive at Orario, you can't hide your capability anymore, Oberon."
"I can't deny that Goddess Iduun... Sera, I am sorry that I can't help you too much because my people still have hatred toward the outside world. I will try to fix that perspective when the time comes. I hope you are the first ally the Elven Kingdom can have."
"You really think so, Oberon?"
"Yes, I did."
'After OEBD is gone, most likely a war or a conflict will happen between kingdoms, and for that, I need to build an ally. I don't want my homeland to suffer the same fate as the dragon race in my previous life.'
"Okay, goodbye, everyone."
Then I flew toward my home with Orstrid by my side while Sera and Goddess Iduun waved their hands.
"Sera, did you not ask your goddess if he lied or told the truth about the alliance?"
"No need, Iduun-sama. I know Oberon did tell me the truth, just... *sigh* I hope he wasn't an elf."
Her statement makes a trusted knight confused.
"What if he's not Elf Princess Sera?"
Then Sera, without any hesitation, told Gebhard.
"I will probably confess my feelings and insist that he stay."
"I see."
"Then let go, Sera, Gebhard; there is so much work to do."
----
It has been weeks since I left my home. Mother and Father will understand my reasoning, but something is worried that casting forbidden magic, most likely King Larfal, will send someone to ask why I did so.
'I need to write a letter for King Larfal.'
After flying for more than half an hour, I descend to the ground and walk into the fortress, where I keep Tanyl and maybe Mother still there too. When I arrive at the gate of the fortress, the guard welcomes me.
"Oberon-sama and Orstrid-san, welcome back."
Then she politely bows.
"Thank you. Is Mother still here?"
"Viska-sama and Levos-sama are already at home, waiting for Oberon-sama's return."
"I see, then I believe Tanyl is still here, right?"
"Yes, Oberon-sama."
Then I called Tanyl, who right away answered my call with her happy deer noises, bowing her head, and waiting for me to pet her.
"Then I will head back home before the days get dark. If something urgent happens, just tell me now."
"Everything is okay. Oberon- Sama, the monster number is under control. If something happens, we will send a notice."
"Okay then, Orstrid, Tanyl, let's go back home before it gets dark."
Then I rode Tanyl and went to my home. It should take half a day to reach Wishe City. Well, it is more than a town because the population is not so dense. After all, the elven race reproduction rate is low, but the half-elf does not face the same problem as the pure-blood elf does. Because of that, the half-elf was the most hated by the elven pure blood because there was a fear they would surpass the number of the pure elf blood.
----
"Oberon-sama, welcome home."
"Yeah, thank you."
After passing the guard, I was welcomed by the people of Wishe Forest. They all halted their activity to welcome me. All I could do was wave my hand to my people.
'*sigh* I just can't get used to this.'
Then I saw an unfamiliar little elf girl with golden yellow hair hiding behind her mother.
"Miss Viridis, is that your child?"
"Yes, Oberon-sama, her name was Lefiya Viridis."
Then I dismounted Tanyl and went to check on her.
'She reminds me of my first child, Lucy, so much.'
Then I drop my knees and show her the kind smile I showed to my child, Lucy.
"Come here, little elf, I will not hurt you."
She is hesitant a bit, then she lays her eyes on her mother and nods. She leaves her mother's shadow in front of me.
"You will grow into a beautiful elf and strong mage; I can sense it."
Then I petted her head, making her blush a bit.
"Um."
"Lefiya, be a kind-hearted elf like your mother, okay?"
"Thank you, Oberon-sama; even when you are tired of protecting our home, you still spend time encouraging my child."
"There is nothing to thank for Miss Viridis. I did that because I love my home and my family. After all, Miss Virdis always takes care of me when I am still a child."
My child must spend time in the library, but sometimes I go outside my home. Of course, I sneak my way out to avoid Mother sending a guard to follow me around. At that time, the Wishe Forest didn't know yet what my exact face was so I could freely roam the town, but then I met the elf maid who was babysitting me when I was still 3 years old. It was Miss Virdis who, when she saw me, was in a panic because seeing me travel alone.
After calming her down and being told that I wanted to explore this town alone, she insisted that she follow along. She guides me around the town out of fear that I will be lost.
"Then I will head back home. I don't want my mother worried too much. See you next time, Miss Viridis and Lifiya."
Then I ride Tanyl's back to head home while waving my hands toward Lefiya and her mother.
