CHAPTER XVII: THE BLOOD CONTRACT
"What condition is that?" I asked the hot chick in plate armour.
To be honest I was surprised by her but I'm still not used to the common sense of this world.
"What are you doing!?" Helena asked.
"You remember the other thing we talked about!?" Freya hinted at something. This is obviously suspicious but for now I'm just gon stay back and observe.
"What will your father say!?" Helena asked after she realised what Freya meant.
"He doesn't have to know! Even if he does, this has to do with the safety of our entire kingdom!" Freya answered.
Helena reluctantly nodded to agree as they both stared at each other. Freya once again turns to me. She starts explaining the imminent threat to the entire kingdom from the empire.
The Vermilion Empire is the largest and strongest state on the entire continent. It's resources and military strength are unmatched.
A few days ago an envoy from the empire was suppose to arrive in the city. They were suppose to meet up with Helena and travel to the capital to negotiate on peace talks.
The envoy however never arrived in Rostalio. Helena was suppose to travel to Fort Dafel near the border and inquire details about the situation.
Her trip was halted by the events of yesterday. Freya went on to explain her condition. I am to help escort Helena and get her entourage to the fort. From there on I must help find the envoy and make sure they and Helena make it to the capital on all costs. All before the emperor grows impatient and invades Rostalio.
According to Helena, the envoy should have arrived in Torak the day before yesterday. It's only a matter of time before the empire becomes suspicious.
Why did I have to get involved in this crazy situation. I'm pretty sure I will get some impossible mission like 'Defend Rostalio from The Vermilion Empire'. How do you even succeed in a mission like that.
No... I'm getting ahead of myself. I should just take things as they come. Worrying about something I can't control is just stupid and unhealthy. Something that may or may not come. For now I have a way to complete my second mission.
I don't really know how I compare to the top adventurers and mages and knights. My advantage should be my knowledge from earth.
So back to the matter at hand.
"Alright... let's talk details." I said to Freya. "By details I mean the frequency of the intercourse like maybe once every few days. Also about the consequences should any of us try to escape from the deal!" I added.
"Lady Helena!" Freya turned to the young lady.
"I think I know what you're getting at." Helena said.
She proceeded to walk to my desk and remove her hood. From her robes she took out some kind of blank paper and placed it on the desk. She then took out a small jar with what looked like a quill.
"You're going to do a blood contract! First both of you drop your blood in this small jar. I will cast my blood magic and with this special quill, I will write the clauses and details of the contract. Including as you said, the punishment to whichever breaks the contract." Helena explained.
"After that, we just sign it and the punishment should the need arise, shall be delivered by the gods!" Freya added.
That is not at what I wanted dude. I was thinking more like a verbal agreement, not to involve the damn gods. I really should have spent more time learning of this world's common sense rather then training. In my defence common sense take time, certainly more than the few weeks I've been here.
Even on earth I struggled with common sense. Mostly because I was an introverted nerd and found it hard to relate to other people. Not to brag but I didn't even study or do homework like 90% of the time. I still always wrote an A+ in Math and Physics. The other subjects I didn't really give a damn.
So anyway, we proceed to work out the details of the contract. Freya agreed that 3 times a week was okay for sex. Until the successful delivery of the envoy to the capital.
We're both allowed additional sexual partners although only I seemed to emphasise on that point. Should any of us try to bail out of the deal or fail to hold up their side of the bargain. The guilty party will be hung by the city walls of Torak in minimal clothing. Have food and drinks thrown at them for a full 3 hours. After which the contract shall be deemed null and void and the gods appeased.
