Kapitel 6: Chapter Six: Unbelievable But Awesome

After getting caught telling John to keep things under wraps, Devon was dragged to the meeting room by his uncle and now he was explaining what happened during their mission and how Emilia got hurt to him.

Well, he didn't really tell him everything that happened, he omitted the part where they met the silver-haired girl and jumped straight to the part where they encountered the fire boar in the forest.

Obviously, this part had some configurations that didn't happen because he had to factor in the fact that if the fight with the silver-haired girl didn't happen then Emilia wouldn't be injured after they got the chalice.

"Are you sure that's everything that happened because if I find out that this was all…?"

"That's what happened, Uncle," Devon said before he could finish saying what he wanted to say.

"Okay," Michael said before turning his gaze to the entrance/exit door.

"He's telling the truth, Michael."

Devon quickly turned around to see Christine walking toward them.

"Wait, what? Since when can you tell who's telling the truth and who's not?" He asked with a confused expression on his face.

"I can't, silly," Christine said before giving him a little tap on his forehead.

"Huh?"

"I just asked Emilia and she told me exactly the same thing you just told Michael." She said.

"Oh."

'She didn't respond when I told her about it so I assumed she was sleeping, it's a relief that she heard all of it.' He said subconsciously.

"Looks like the trouble wasn't actually your fault this time, Devon," Michael said before crossing his arms.

"I told you so."

"Yeah, but I am still going to consider breaking you two up as teammates."

"Huh? Why would you do that? I didn't do anything careless this time and I'm not planning to do anything careless in our future missions either." He opposed.

"At this point, I wouldn't even mind believing that it's not your fault at all."

"What are you talking about?"

"He means that bad things always happen whenever the both of you go out and somehow, Emilia ends up getting the short end of the stick." Christine expressed.

"I also get the short end of the stick," Devon uttered.

"Yeah, but you act like you don't care, it's affecting her and I can see."

"Oh." He said before slowly putting his gaze down.

They didn't stay down for long though as he quickly shot his gaze up toward Michael just after two seconds.

"So, what if you break us up, who are you going to team me up with?" He asked.

"I don't really know for now, do you have any proposition?"

"Um…. Aurora."

"Of all the people you chose Aurora," Christine said before letting out a little chuckle.

"I know she's harsh and cruel, especially toward me but I'm sure she'll eventually warm up to me once we spend enough time together." He said sneaking in a little smile in between his words.

"You've spent the past ten years together, Devon," Christine said.

"Yeah, but we were just kids then and she wasn't even near as half as cold as she is now back then."

"Yeah, she wasn't like this but you are still kids."

"Umm….Devon, when you say warm up to you, in what context do you mean it?" Michael asked.

"Umm…..just the normal way just like we used to be as playmates." He replied as calmly as he could with his hand on the back of his head.

"Okay," Michael said stressing the word a bit.

"So, are you going to team me up with her if you end up breaking me and Emilia up?"

"No, I haven't made up my mind yet, I'll think about it."

"Okay, but please don't put me together with John, anybody but him will do."

"Hmm…I'll think about it, but that out of the way for now, where's the ore you got from the fire boar?" Michael asked.

"Oh, you mean this?"

After saying that, he pulled a red ore the size of an apple out from the bag around his waist.

These beasts with special abilities had special kinds of crystal ore inside their body which is obviously the source of their power.

These crystal ores were used as a source of energy and even the basic ones just like the one Devon was holding right now could be sold for a good amount of coins.

There was a way of identifying the quality of a beast crystal ore apart from knowing which beast it was taken out because you were present when it was done.

It wasn't clear enough to be seen unless the ore was held very close to the face but that was all that was required to see the light points where the crystal's glow was coming from.

One light point indicated that it was a basic tier crystal ore and the tier increased the more light points the crystal had lit up.

The more light points a crystal ore had the brighter it was and this made it possible for a few experts to be able to tell the tier of a crystal ore just by looking at it but at the same time, the closer a crystal was to the next tier the harder it was to differentiate between it and the one above it so a lot of merchants preferred to take a closer look at it first to avoid making any mistakes.

Michael took the crystal ore and immediately brought it closer to his face to confirm that it was indeed a basic tier fire boar crystal ore.

It didn't take him long to confirm that as he was able to find only one light point and after that, he threw the crystal ore back to Devon.

"You're given it back to me?" Devon said with a confused expression on his face.

"Yeah, the only thing you can do with it is selling it so go do that and make sure you buy something for Emilia with some of the coins, you've been the source of her bad luck after all."

"You didn't have to put it that way," Devon said, shaking his head. "How much are the basic tier crystals being sold for now?"

"I would have said I wasn't current with the price and told you what I knew from last time which was just one gold coin and five silver coins but you're in luck because I ran into a merchant friend of mine this morning and he told me that basic tier crystal ores now cost two gold coins." Michael expressed.

"That's cool, I guess I'll get going now," Devon said before slowly turning to leave.

"Be careful, people get robbed of their crystal ores in that area."

"I understand." He replied with a nod before he made his way to the door and left through it.

He went straight to his room after leaving the meeting room, and now, it was time to think about the strangest thing that happened to him today.

His room was a pretty basic one, a bed with a table beside it and a small cupboard that had a lamp on top of it.

There was no way they could fit a window underground so they had lamps on all the time down there.

They all had rooms down there and also up at the orphanage.

'I thought this strange thing popping up in front of me was nothing and then that happened today. Uncle did say that people without abilities can get one in the future, right? And after getting an ability, a person gets the ability mark on his neck, marks similar to the ones Erina and everyone else with abilities has.'

As soon as those thoughts ran through his mind, he picked up the small mirror on his table and began to search his neck to see if he could find any mark.

He looked at the parts he could see normally and even twisted his neck, but still, he wasn't able to find anything.

"Yeah, my neck has been exposed since I came back, if there was a mark, they would have seen it, if not anyone else, Uncle would have definitely seen it with his sharp eyes." He muttered after crashing down on his bed in disappointment.

'But I teleported not once but twice, so there has to be a catch.' He said subconsciously before springing up on his bed. 'It has to do with that thing that I keep seeing because, I can clearly recall seeing flash of messages from it before the teleportations happened.'

As soon as those thoughts finished running through his mind, something happened.

[ Name: Devon Oasis ]

[ Mystic level: 02 ]

[ Mystic points: 0/200 ]

[ Health status: Green ]

[ 100/100 HP ]

[ Energy level: 22/100 ]

[ Normal Energy: 45/100 ]

[ Physical Status ]

[ Strength: 15 ]

[ Dexterity: 40 ]

[ Endurance: 07 ]

[ Unused stat points: 2 ]

'Hmm, I remember getting a message that I was now at mystic level two so that's what it meant but this is all still very confusing. Why is there an Energy level and normal Energy and how did the teleportation from earlier happen?'

While these thoughts were going through his mind, he looked up to see that there were a bunch of other things there.

'Exchange shop, Skill shop, skills?'

Skills was the one that caught his attention and just thinking about checking it out opened it up for him.

[ Skills available ]

[ Invisibility: level 01 ]

[ Daily usage left: 03 ]

[ Teleportation: level 01 ]

[ Daily usage left: 03 ]

'Teleportation, so that's how it happened and there's even an invisibility skill, what is all this?'

He was confused but at the same time amazed.

He could clearly see an activate and deactivate option for both skills.

'So, if I activate invisibility I'll become invisible, there's no description so that's definitely what it does.'

"Devon! Are you in there?!"

He was still going through this interesting stuff that he was still figuring out when someone came knocking at his door.

It was obviously Aurora because no one else would come knocking at his door with an angry voice.

"She must have found out about what happened to Emilia, I have to get out of here." He muttered to himself and at that time, his gaze turned to the invisibility skill.

[ -20 Energy ]

[ Invisibility activated ]

Aurora got tired of knocking without getting any response and decided to push open the door which wasn't even locked to begin with.

Devon was sitting on the bed before she pushed the door open but now he was nowhere to be found.

"Where are you, Devon? I know you're in here."

She looked around the room and even looked under the bed unaware that Devon had already left the room slowly.

After walking down the hallway and finding a corner to hide, the invisibility wore off on its own.

[ Invisibility deactivated ]

He could see his hands and body now but he had only one thought in his mind at this moment.

'Abilties without any mark, this is unbelievable but awesome.'
