27.77% Electronic Musician's Transmigration / Chapter 43: Total Defeat

Kapitel 43: Total Defeat

The sound of the shattered glass echoed in Wang Tianyi's ears, leaving him unable to calm down. He heard his heart pounding in his chest and felt his lungs pumping like bellows.

What was happening? TMY was just a newcomer, why did it escalate to this point? Can someone explain why?

This shouldn't be happening... Just a day ago, he, The Rex, was hailed as a top emerging producer, adored by countless electronic music fans. With his new single about to be released, there were countless people eagerly waiting and anticipating it. TMY couldn't compete in terms of fan numbers, and it seemed like he had the upper hand in terms of popularity...

So why did this happen now?

What about his fans? Didn't they help promote his music?

And what about Cheng Xiaofan's fans? Cheng Xiaofan had so many crazy fans, didn't they purchase his new single?

With Wang Tianyi's pride, he couldn't accept this reality in such a short time.

Wang Tianyi had always been an arrogant person. Otherwise, he wouldn't have chosen 'The Rex' as his flamboyant stage name. His mindset matched his chosen name—he wanted to be the best, the most formidable, the "King", the one that nobody could surpass.

"Perhaps it's really just because of those two songs?" Wang Tianyi immersed himself in despair, as an utterly unrealistic thought crossed his mind.

In comparison to The Rex and a few others, the rest only faced some mockery and ridicule.

There was actually a group of people who, for some reason, had made bold statements before the release day, confident that they wouldn't be overwhelmed by TMY. Now, the results were self-evident, and none of them dared to show up or respond.

A few music critics might have suffered a bit, as they would be continuously mentioned until they fulfilled their promises. But for those who only made idle boasts, changing their usernames was a simple matter. After all, for them, a new username meant a fresh start.

Time quietly passed amidst these waves, and soon, the first-day sales figures for The Rex and TMY's three singles were released unexpectedly by the China Music Network.

Gold Song Chart: October - Electronic Music.

NO.1: "Closer" - TMY/Jing Qiuhua.

Sales: 1,070,901.

User Rating: ★★★★★9.9.

In the top spot, it's TMY, with the song title displayed prominently in dazzling gold font. And following the rating, there are five terrifying stars, giving it a high score of 9.9.

Although this is just the initial rating, it's destined to decline slightly in the future. But keep in mind that the China Music Network's ratings are very strict, so achieving this kind of score is already considered extraordinary.

Moving on, the results of the top three are clearly marked.

No.2: "Solo Dance" - TMY/Jing Qiuhua/TMY Global Support Team.

Sales: 916,238.

User Rating: ★★★★★9.8.

This is the performance of "Solo Dance," the second single in TMY's double release. It securely holds the second position but was successfully overtaken by "Closer."

No.3: "The King of Street Dance" - The Rex/Cheng Xiaofan.

Sales: 467,490.

User Rating: ★★★☆☆6.8.

On the chart, The Rex not only lost but also suffered a significant gap, taking everyone by surprise. Especially in terms of ratings, compared to TMY's full five-star high rating, it only received a meagre 6.8.

While TMY had surpassed 1,000,000 sales in one day with "Closer", The Rex failed to even pass the 500,000 benchmark!

And when you delve into TMY's reviews, they are all positive.

"This is a continuation of a masterpiece. Compared to 'Fox,' this time, 'Closer' and 'Solo Dance' have shown me more. Perhaps this is what electronic music should be like."

"I thought initially that "Solo Dance" would be the stand-out song, but it's still too similar to "Fox." In my opinion, "Closer" is the true masterwork."

"The underestimated 'Closer' brings a brand new style! How did TMY come up with this idea?"

"By the way, I'm more curious about the singer. Does anyone know who Jing Qiuhua is?"

"Whoever she is, her singing is captivating, and she's truly a talented vocalist. Does anyone know if she has any other songs?"

"Tianyou Entertainment hit the jackpot by using 'Solo Dance' as their theme song. I'm definitely going to follow that show."

"Actually, besides Jing Qiuhua, 'Closer' was sung by two people. Doesn't that mean that the other singer is TMY?"

"^Wow, I never even considered that!^"

"So TMY is a girl then?"

Eric: "Told you :)"

The rest of the comment section was full of people thanking Eric...

In this music battle, TMY emerged as the ultimate winner.

Unaffected by the number of fans or differences in fame, she become the one who rose to the occasion and stole victory out from under The Rex...

As for Tianyou Entertainment, they acted swiftly and released numerous updates as soon as the first-day sales figures are out.

"Street Dance of China" becomes the hottest topic during this period. As the first domestic show with a Hip-Hop theme, it garnered the curiosity and attention of many people.

And this time, following the release of TMY's theme song, the official account of "Street Dance of China" makes a notable announcement: The first episode will premiere on the Tianyou APP in one week!

Time quickly passed by. On the second day of TMY firmly securing the first and second positions on the charts, the previous posts that had raised doubts about TMY being an industry plant, involvement in shady practices with Tianyou, or artificially boosting data and support, almost disappeared.

There might still be a few remaining, but their numbers had significantly dwindled.

It's quite understandable, as many who joined in the criticism were simply jumping on the bandwagon. They were the kind of people who felt uneasy when they saw everyone else criticizing someone or something, and they didn't want to be left out. Whether or not the criticism was valid, they couldn't be bothered to investigate and simply subconsciously believed that what others said was correct.

Yet, once the influence of the event spread to a certain extent, often it would be revealed that things were not as they seemed, and more voices of support would emerge. The tables would turn, and the effect would be different. Those critics might even turn around and adopt a completely opposite attitude.

After many onlookers, who initially held a skeptical attitude, listened to these songs, they were all amazed and without hesitation, joined the ranks of those putting the songs on repeat.

This caused TMY's fan base to gradually grow stronger during this musical battle, as they absorbed numerous fresh supporters.

TMY's Weibo account had surpassed 4 million followers!

Her victory was even more assured when someone noticed that The Rex's account was actually losing followers!

But during this time, something began to occur in the background...

A video was posted by an English-speaking content creator in China, which took off in the Western world, gaining millions of views.

The YouTube content creator, with the ID "Shawn in China," seems to have a decent following and a good level of engagement. His videos normally consist of slice-of-life videos demonstrating life in China, and some cultural differences he noticed since he moved.

But unlike his normal style, this video was a music review. He occasionally did solo videos when he found a product in China he felt could be useful in other countries, or when he wanted to highlight something unique, that he felt deserved more attention.

This was the second type. He had discovered a relatively small artist by Western standards and decided to share his findings with the Americas and Europe. He had discovered the artist on Weibo, and curious, had downloaded Light Cloud to listen to her songs specifically.

Suddenly, downloads of Light Cloud shot up, and for the first time in its history, Light Cloud began to gain international attention.

So far, after a whole week of brewing, even though The Rex's Weibo account was bombarded with negative comments and Cheng Xiaofan remained silent for a long time, there's no need to question who won or lost... But even so, many people still wanted to see just how far this newcomer, TMY, with her tremendous momentum, could go.

Finally, at exactly 6 p.m. on the seventh day of the single's release, the sales report for the Electronic Music category of the Gold Song Chart: October on the China Music Network was unveiled.

Producer TMY's song "Closer" recorded a weekly sales volume of 8,604,930. It dominated the chart with an absolute advantage! Undoubtedly impressive sales!

"Closer" rating: ★★★★★9.8.

In second place, producer TMY's song "Solo Dance" achieved a weekly sales volume of 6,007,310.

"Solo Dance" rating: ★★★★★9.2.

It wasn't until the third spot that we saw "The King of Street Dance," a collaborative track by producer The Rex and top pop singer Cheng Xiaofan, with a weekly sales volume of 1,537,194.

"The King of Street Dance" rating: ★★★☆☆5.4.
