Kapitel 19: Arcane Techniques
" Bang!!"
In a training room, a silver haired youth was sent flying by a single punch from a white robes man.
" Bluurghh." The silver haired youth puked out blood as he kneels on one knee. His silver gem like pupils glared at the white robed man in front of him as he wiped the blood off his lips.
"Quite tenacious aren't you young man." The white robed man smiled as he watched the silver haired youth stand to his feet after a few moments.
The Silver haired youth in the other hand staggered. Looking beside him, he saw his teammates completely knocked out and unconscious.
" Even with my cultivation base reduced to same level as yours, and my parameters reduced to the minimum, you three talented level 3 arcanist couldn't land a single punch on me. Disgraceful. "
The white robed man sneered as the silver haired youth sighed.
Reality was cruel. Over the past few days, Silver and his teammates had been battling with Gerald in preparation for the National Competition. The worst part of all this was that, Gerald had reduced his cultivation to the same level as theirs and even halved his strength and speed, yet they couldn't land a single punch.
The closest they had been to hitting him was when Silver managed to counter his defensive spatial technique with his distortion manipulation after a few minutes of concentration, and even with that, Gerald had reacted fast and knocked them out before they could even regroup and plan once more.
" How am I supposed to beat someone who can manipulate both Space and Time at the same time." Silver thought .
" You know, after fighting so much with you, I've found several weaknesses you possess. Boosting your physical strength with Psionic Energy is good for short term benefits, but in the long run, you're going to damage your cells.
Secondly, you rely too much on your reaction speed. Although I must admit that your reaction speed is on nigh godly levels, if you meet an opponent who can strip you of that power, you'll lose badly. In other words,without it, you're nothing.
Thirdly, you rely too less on your arcana, and that's something you know already. However even with the normal abilities you have, there's so much you can do. I once fought with a Psionic energy arcanist who could manipulate the molecules of matter,energy and forces with just his Psionic energy. " Gerald sat on a large rock as he lectured.
" You have unlimited potential, with just your arcana alone, and that's completely withdrawing the abilities of those pairs of eyes of yours." Gerald added.
Silver frowned as he listened to all of this, especially the part where he was destroying his cells and the part about using Psychokinesis to initiate matter,energy and Force manipulation.
Concerning his physical body strength, he knew the consequences of his action s very well more than anyone, as he always notices the unusual dilation of his cells whenever he filled them with Psionic energies.
" What can I do about my physical strength. My arcana doesn't grant me unmatched physical strength like Samael's does." Silver spoke as he use this opportunity to replenish his reserves.
" Here." Gerald Immediately after hearing that waved his hand, and a black slip appeared his hand which he threw to Silver. " What's this?" Silver asked, as he examined the slip carefully.
" It's a technique called the Eternal Monkey King Physique. " Gerald smiled. I got from a monk in China after I defeated him in less than three moves. Gerald smiled and said.
" I never had the chance to cultivate it since I didn't want to discard my old Physique strengthening technique. From what I've learnt so far, the technique is divided into 16 levels. I don't know the specifics, but what I know is that, at the first four stages it grants the ability to completely solidify the skin into pure ivory and makes the user impervious to energy attacks. Also it grants ungodly flexibility, agility and speed." Gerald spoke with a proud smile.
" I'll only let you have it, if you're willing to accept me as your teacher." Gerald smiled. " Thank you teacher." Silver didn't hesitate a bit. From the little interaction he had had with Gerald, he knew he was a respectable person, dignified and most importantly, overpowered as fuck.
At the very least, having someone as powerful as him as your mentor had more advantages than disadvantages.
" Smart boy." Gerald laughed probably for the first time.
" Also before we continue with the spar, what arcane cultivation technique do you practice?" Gerald asked.
" I don't have one, since I couldn't afford. I just absorb mana into my core. " Silver said with a shrug.
" Fascinating." Gerald teleported in front of Silver and closely examined him with his hand on his chin.
" Normally any arcanist who tried absorbing mana without an arcane cultivation technique would blow up their core and their arcane energy vessels when they get to the second level." Gerald said with utter seriousness.
" Think of an arcane cultivation technique as guidelines or a manual that teaches how to absorb mana and not blow yourself up. Both your teammates cultivate an extremely advanced arcane cultivation technique hundreds of years old within their respective clans yet you still overpower them."
Gerald sighed. Silver reminded him of himself when he was young. The extremely talented boy with no background who was extremely paranoid.
" I'm going to give you an arcane cultivation technique that is a million times even more powerful than theirs. The amazing part is that, I made it myself, by studying my own arcana. "
Gerald smiled and patted Silver's shoulder.
" You might not have the Space arcana,but the ability of your arcana to distort everything and your ability to see and manipulate energy down to particle levels is enough. " He added.
Silver on the other hand stood there a bit nostalgic. Over the past few days, although Gerald wasn't going easy on them, he made sure that he gave them healing potions and other useful pellets that enhanced their strengths considerably.
" Thank you teacher. I will not let you down." Silver bowed respectfully.
" It's alright. Just make sure you cultivate it successfully, as no one has been able to do so apart from me." Gerald sighed.
He only realized that, the only reason why he had even been able to use the technique he created was because he had a space type arcana. If he didn't it would've been useless to him.
" The name of the technique is Limitless. I named it this way because it has near infinite potential. It's divided into 5 levels, and each level would take your understanding of spatial forces and energy manipulation to a whole different level." Gerald spoke as he handed Silver another slip.
" Even I haven't realized the full potential of this technique. I'll provide you with some body strengthening potions and mana potions to cultivate the Eternal Monkey King Physique and Limitless respectively. So you can start as soon as possible." Gerald spoke and went back to his position.
" Now where were we?" He then smiled crazily, as he instantly teleported beside Silver and threw a punch forward. Silver reacted extremely quickly and dodged the punch immediately and countered with a kick.
" Bang! Bang!" The teacher student duo rapidly exchanged attacks, throwing a bunch of kicks and punches in a flurry.
Silver was about to throw another punch, when his entire body instantly froze.
" He's freezing time again." His consciousness wasn't frozen, howbeit, his brain was processing information at slower speeds compared to before.
" I told you didn't I." Gerald teleported right before Silver and threw a flurry of punches and kicks which smashed into him and sent him flying.
" He held back." Silver groaned as he stood up. He felt the power behind Gerald's attacks decrease sharply since he had seen Gerald knock out both Moon and Samael with single punches.
Smiling, he stretched forth his arm forward, before the wind began to solidify under a burst of Psionic energy.
With a flick of his finger, the solidified winds turned razor sharp and instantly slashed towards Gerald who only stood there with a smile. Just as the blades were about to slash into him, his body turned incorporeal, and the blades that were supposed to turn him into minced meat passed right through him.
" This technique is extremely dangerous and overpowered." Silver sighed, as he unleashed a terrifying surge of Psionic energy from his body.
"Hehehe. Bring it on." Gerald smiled and lifted his finger forward, as temporal and spatial energies began to move slightly with every move he made.
Without speaking further, they both rushed forward and smashed into each other, sending a massive shockwave all over.
