Blake and Zack are on their way back to Zootopia on a stolen bus. They have approximately thirty minutes remaining until they arrive at the animal kingdom. To pass the time and make the journey feel quicker, they engage in conversation.
Blake: How are you holding up, Zack?
Zack: Still breathing, still living, and still rotting in this filthy bus...
Blake: You know, we couldn't have stolen a civilian car because of its tiny size. We're lucky to fit in this bus, which is big enough for the two of us.
Zack: True. We didn't have any other choice. I still can't believe how Barker got away with everything he has done to me. I swear if I catch him, I will dismember him, and I mean literally.
Blake: Zack, just forget him for now, and I am terribly sorry for what he has done to you. You know, I've warned you about his attitude. You should've anticipated all of this mayhem.
Zack: Blake, you told me I'd get over it. Don't you remember? You probably had your doubts about me moving on from his silly behavior. After all, he did prove himself to be an immature rabbit lacking dignity. I expected him to be at least the only reputable and amicable rabbit among his species.
Blake: Well, for you, the only rabbit that would be good enough for you to respect and be friends with is Jack Savage. My partner in crime and a former secret agent of Zootopia Secret Agency.
Zack: Oh, really? No thanks. I am done with rabbits for real now.
Blake: As you wish. In the long run, we survived the shootout and managed to get through all of it.
Zack: Yeah, with rancor, of course. I am glad we're still sucking air.
Blake: Zack, what made you think it was worth sacrificing so many lives just to get your hands on all of Victor's belongings? Was it truly worth it? You lost countless men for no real gain. Honestly, if you were after weapons, you could have just robbed an army store in Zootopia. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about losing anyone.
Zack: I initially believed that Victor's weapons and drugs could be obtained easily without resorting to violence or losing most of my crew in a firefight. I was mistaken. If we tried to raid any of the army stores in Zootopia, we would face even greater danger, as the ZPD would be on our tail in no time, given that their headquarters is right in the city. In contrast, the police force in Bunnyburrow is plain piddling compared to the ZPD. That's why we decided to go after Barker's weapons instead. My confidence was misplaced. I thought we could pull this off without any issues, but it turned out to be a terrible decision. This operation was a complete disaster. It was awful. I lost all my men there. But that's not the end of the story! You have no idea how many more people and armed units I have waiting for me back at my headquarters.
Blake: So, this headquarters of yours, Onyx Technologies? Where is it?
Zack: I'll lead the way once we reach Zootopia.
Blake: Okay.
Thirty minutes later. The duo successfully reaches Zootopia without being tailed or pursued. Zack stands up and asks Blake to pull over so he can take control of the steering wheel.
Zack: You may rest while I drive us directly to Onyx Technologies.
Blake: Alright, thanks.
Zack assumes control of the steering wheel as Blake falls asleep in a seat at the rear of the bus. Fifteen minutes later, Zack wakes up Blake from his slumber.
Zack: Wakey wakey, you sleepyhead, we arrived at our destination!
Blake yawns while stretching and stands up...
Blake: What? Already?
Zack: Yep, come out. Some of my men are already waiting for us outside.
Blake and Zack disembark from the bus. Blake gazes at a towering building ahead, prominently displaying the sign "Onyx Technologies." The edifice features two substantial towers as well.
Blake: Where are we?
Zack: We are near Savanna Central. This is where the magic happens!
Blake: Wait a minute, this is legal? I mean, I thought you'd take us to some kind of outlandish underground that's hidden from the public. Is your corporation accessible to everyone?
Zack: It appears you are a bit bewildered by your shady conception of my company. You really thought our base was situated underground like the Golden Fang Clan? We do not inhabit the underground like dirty rats. Needless to say, our corporation is officially registered at the ZPD.
Blake: But they don't know what kind of unearthly mysterious products you are manufacturing in there.
Zack: That's right! And to answer your question, this building is only accessible for authorized personnel. No civilian is allowed to enter the building.
Several armed wolf units approach Blake and Zack.
Onyx Guard 1: Welcome back, sir!
Onyx Guard 2: We're awaiting new orders, sir!
Zack: Glad to be back. Get rid of the bus or dismantle it for useful materials we can use in some of our research labs.
The two Onyx guards attend to the bus, while Zack and Blake are escorted to the building by several Onyx guards. The entire area is thoroughly secured and is located away from Zootopia's residential zone.
Onyx Guard: Sir, where's the rest of the squad?
Zack: They're K.I.A. The operation was a failure. Oh, by the way, this is Blake Thunder. I have finally found my best friend. Get ready because we're commencing Operation Thunderbolt at night.
Blake: ThunderWHAT?!
Zack: Oh, yeah. The name of the operation is largely inspired by your last name, which I find quite clever. You were my biggest muse!
Blake: Really? This is ridiculous! I can hardly wrap my head around what I'm seeing. It's all so real. You weren't kidding, and your intentions, well, they seem to be genuine too. Oh wow.
Zack: Of course this is all real!
Zack and Blake make their way into the building, but their progress is halted by the security system at the entrance.
Zack: Now, stand still.
Blake: Why?....
At that instant, a security laser scanner sweeps over his body, scanning from his feet to the tips of his ears. Moments later, the building's entrance is secured, and an alarm activates, accompanied by a computerized voice announcing, "Unauthorized identity detected, security lockdown in progress. Please remain still and await further instructions."
Blake: What is going on?!
Zack: Oh shit, I forgot. Your identity isn't in our database; therefore, our security systems cannot recognize you.
Two cutting-edge security turrets activate on the ceiling, both targeting Blake.
Blake: Holy crap! Zack, do something!
Zack: Remain calm. Don't panic! They won't shoot you unless you attempt to do something stupid, for example, trying to shoot or escape, which is pretty much impossible at this point. Everyone! It's a false alarm!
Zack places his paw on the security scanner mounted on the wall, successfully lifting the lockdown. The turrets power down, and a computer voice announces, "Security lockdown has been lifted. Welcome back, Chief Wolfward."
Blake: Thanks for saving my ass from those turtles! What kind of defense systems are those? Why do they have that bluish glow around them?
Zack: That blue aura around them is a shield. They're indestructible by the regular weaponry that people use these days. Upon being activated, the entrance becomes impassable. You make a smart move, and you're dead. Now let's head right into the main hall. Feast your eyes on this!
Blake and Zack step into the expansive lobby, which boasts an intricate and stunning design featuring a central fountain. Flanking the hall are two large trees, surrounded by a lush lawn and numerous doorways that lead to various sectors. The sectors include:
Sector 1: Medicine & Biology (Supervised by Dr. Regina Quinn)
Sector 2: Technology & Science (Supervised by Professor Gyzmoo)
Sector 3: Barracks (Supervised by Sgt. Brutus)
Additionally, there are elevators that provide access to the upper levels of the complex, where numerous offices and employee accommodation rooms are located.
Blake: Wow! I literally feel like in heaven right now. This looks majestic! I didn't know such a building like this even existed here in Zootopia. It's a bit odd; I never heard of this company or even seen this building while passing by.
Zack: Well, I told you this already. This is not a public place. Everything we do here, our services and products, are pretty much confidential. Onyx Technologies is not known by many civilians out there. This is a private company. We sell our products, weaponry, etc. to our authorities from afar. Now, follow me.
Blake follows Zack to one of the elevators. They enter it.
Blake: Where are we going?
Zack: To the command center.
Zack presses the button for the top floor on the control panel, and the elevator ascends to the highest level of the towering structure. They step out into the command center.
Zack: Welcome to my den!
Blake and Zack exit the elevator and pass by two security guards as they make their way to the balcony that provides a view of the entire room filled with computers and personnel. In the center of the room is a chair specifically designed for the CEO of Onyx Technologies, Zack himself, and on the wall at the far end, a large monitor displays a complete map of Zootopia.
Blake: I feel like I am in some kind of military compound.
Zack: This is my favorite place in this building. My home.
Zack starts walking downstairs as he speaks to Blake...
Zack: And you know why?
Blake: Tell me.
Zack walks to the chair positioned in the center of the room and takes a seat as all the officers acknowledge him with greetings.
Zack: I can just relax here without being disturbed and give orders whenever I want. This is the only place on Earth where I'm respected. I live a limitless life here. Now, I should go and call the supervisors of each separate sector of the building before we conduct any other actions.
Blake: Supervisors? You got some kind of high-ranking officers employed here too?
Zack: Exactly! Just give me a minute.
Zack is preparing to utilize the PA system to summon his supervisors when he suddenly hears the elevator doors open. Three distinguished animals walk out of the elevator. Among them is a small rat that scurries down the stairs from the balcony, approaches Zack, and then climbs onto his shoulder. It's the smartest scientist to ever live, Professor Gyzmoo. He wears a lab coat.
Professor Gyzmoo: It is quite a surprise to see you here, Chief. I had assumed you had perished in the line of duty. I am truly pleased to see you back in one piece!
Zack: I hate it when you climb on my shoulder like this each time you talk to me. I am glad to see you too, Gyzmoo.
Professor Gyzmoo: Well, it's just much easier to converse with you like this since I am just a tiny little rodent with an impeccable and superior intellect, and I find it very grueling and uncomfortable to talk to you from the ground, you know? It's also very discourteous. I deserve to be seen! I deserve to be heard!
Zack: I understand Mr. Wikipedia. How about you ask me first before you clamber up to one of my shoulders and talk to me like a parrot?
A charming female fennec fox with green eyes named Regina, also dressed in a white lab coat, approaches alongside a formidable, buff cape buffalo known as Brutus, who wears a black tank top.
Zack: Regina! Brutus! Gyzmoo! I was just about to summon you all, but you came here without me having to do anything. Perfect timing!
Regina: Hello Zack. Well, we were informed that you've entered the compound shortly after your arrival. I see you made it back without any injuries. That's great! Who's that fox?
Zack: Oh, him? He's my best friend. He is Blake Thunder! I've spent years of searching for this adorable fox, and now he is one of us! I finally found him, guys!
Brutus: Blake, my boy, welcome to the force. Let me introduce myself. I am Sergeant Brutus, the supervisor of the barracks sector.
Brutus extends his arm and firmly shakes Blake's hand, applying such pressure that it nearly crushes his grip.
Blake: Geez, sir. You have some power.
Brutus: My apologies. I have to keep in mind that you foxes aren't as tough as us buffalos. I run the barracks around here. My expertise lies in creating cutting-edge weapon systems and training new recruits, specifically the recently developed Onyx guard clones. My demanding and strict training program is consistently intense, pushing lazy asses to their limits. It makes sure every single clone becomes an elite asset of this company.
Blake: Are you serious? They are clones? And that training—I have to see that shit! That's incredible!
Brutus: Yes, I am dead serious. I can show you around if you wish, and you can also try out our shooting range as well. We may not be a military organization, but defenses, armed units, and firepower are indispensable aspects of our company.
Blake: I get it now, Zack. So this is how you want to take over Zootopia. You kill all its animals, and you let your clones do all the dirty work for you. Very clever. I am still not really a fan of this plan, though.
Regina: Take over Zootopia?
Zack: Oh shush. Blake, you'll get over it, and I can guarantee you that you'll adapt to your new life. Change starts today!
Blake: I am not sure if I am going to be happy living among artificial animals.
Zack: You'll find out in time. Brutus, you got anything else to say?
Brutus: Yes. I think we should finally give poor Regina a word.
Professor Gyzmoo: Wow! Brutus is currently displaying a commendable sense of chivalry!
Brutus: No? Well, ugh. Yes. I mean, she still wants to say something, obviously.
Regina: Thank you for acknowledging me, Stonehead.
Regina begins to circle around Blake, observing him intently.
Regina: So, Blake, was it? What do you mean Zack wants to take over Zootopia?
Blake: Hey, I thought you knew about his intentions already.
Zack stands up and walks next to Regina.
Zack: Oh, Regina, my dear. Blake just likes to crack jokes. It wasn't anything serious. RIGHT BLAKE?!
He looks back at Blake with a sense of concern.
Blake: I just wanted to mention that if he really wanted to, his clones could easily take control of Zootopia, but he doesn't have any intentions like that, so there's no need to worry.
Regina: Well, it better be just a humorless joke. I am happy to meet you, by the way! I am Regina Quinn, the head of the medical labs. I specialize in biology and medicine. Are you going to be employed here? I mean, I'd love to have a nice assistant helping me during my research.
Brutus gives Blake a playful nudge, a smile spreading across his face.
Brutus: I think she already likes you! You two would make a great couple!
Blake and Regina both turn red as Brutus chuckles for a moment.
Blake: Oh, that's definitely not going to happen, dingus!
Regina: Well, this is already becoming a bit awkward, isn't it?
Blake: Yep!
Regina: Brutus, could you please keep your frivolous remarks for yourself?
Brutus: Sure! I will stop poking my nose into your affairs.
Regina: Now we're talking! Blake, if you're free later, swing by! I'd really enjoy sharing my interests and hobbies with you, plus it'd be great to get to know you better. It looks like we'll be hanging out a lot since you're Zack's best buddy he's been looking for all this time!
Blake: I'll try my best to pay you a visit later.
Regina: You know where to find me?
Blake: Yes, but I still need to be familiarized with this entire complex. It feels like a damn maze.
Regina walks very close to Blake, staring deeply into his eyes.
Regina: I would be delighted to give you a tour!
Professor Gyzmoo whispers something to Zack.
Professor Gyzmoo: Chief, I think I sense a heavy bond forming between them.
Zack: Yeah, no shit, Gyz.
Zack jumps in between Blake and Regina.
Zack: Okay, everyone, let's take a step back. That's quite enough for now. Regina, I really don't think this is the right time for you to be here, and Blake, I need you to focus! Stop getting distracted by unnecessary emotions! And Regina, please stop pulling Blake's attention away! Brutus, why don't you take Blake for a quick tour of the barracks while Regina and I have a chat in the labs? The discussion ends here! Come along, Miss Quinn...
Zack begins to walk toward the stairs, with Professor Gyzmoo still perched on his shoulder, but he notices that Regina is not following him; instead, she remains beside Blake and Brutus.
Zack: What are you doing? Get a move on! What are you waiting for?
Regina: No. What's wrong with you? You behave like an idiot right now. I can't be always isolated in the lab, doing the same thing over and over. You know how tedious that is? I want to meet new friends and communicate with them while I can! You have no idea how stressed I am these days, thanks to your bullshit, your disastrous plans, and your unacceptable approach. Yeah, don't think I didn't know what the purpose of your clones is or that secret bio weapon you're developing. I am not stupid! Now, give me a bit of freedom, will you?!
Zack: Gyzmoo....
Professor Gyzmoo: Yes, Chief?
Zack: Get off of me this instance!
Professor Gyzmoo: Alright! Just don't squash me on the ground!
Professor Gyzmoo leaps from Zack's shoulder as Zack turns to walk back toward Regina, his expression unamused and visibly frustrated.
Brutus: Blake, I think we should go.
Blake: No...
Brutus: But this matter does not pertain to us.
Zack: I did not place you in this position to act according to your whims, Regina! You have specific responsibilities that you must fulfill. Are you aware of the consequences that await defiant employees?
Regina: You can do whatever the heck you want with me! You're just an egocentric maniac to me! I just want more freedom! And you should stop mistreating me too!
Zack: How do you dare talk like that about me? Egocentric? Are you kidding me? I am recognized as the founder of this company, its leader, while you're just an average employee with a somewhat higher rank than all the others. So don't you ever tell me that I should give you more freedom. This is your full time job, and you're being well paid. You are obliged to do anything that I say, and when I say it, no matter what! Do you want to get fired?! Or, let's get to the point: What the hell is your main problem?
Regina stands up for herself.
Regina: Wolfward, I feel completely confined in this environment! My paycheck has lost its significance to me. It will be worthless once you eliminate everyone in the city, including my family! This is my primary concern, along with the way you consistently mistreat me and regard me merely as a tool for labor, not to mention every single ordinary employee is unaware of the true purpose of this organization.
Zack: I concur with the fact that money will no longer matter, but I highly disagree with your statement about me mistreating you! It is me who has been subjected to mistreatment throughout my entire life. You were raised in a family unlike me. You don't know jack shit about me or about my past. If you really want your family to be spared, you better do what I ask you to do! Do otherwise, and you'll be discharged. And do you know what would follow after that? You wouldn't need to worry about your family after that because you'd perish along with them too!
Regina: You're one hell of a disgraceful wolf!
Blake: Regina?
Regina: Yes?
Blake: Do what he says. We'll have a chance to chat later, so no need to stress.
Regina: But….
Regina lets out a sigh and approaches Zack, her expression filled with sadness and disappointment.
Regina: Let's go. But keep in mind that I will not let you initiate Operation Thunderbolt until my family is safe and secured!
Zack: So this is what has been bothering you the most. Losing your loved ones, Miss Quinn. We will sort this out somehow. I will prove to you that I am not a self-appointed idiot. Blake, Brutus, we'll rendezvous in the lobby in thirty minutes. Now, go.
Professor Gyzmoo: Chief, how about me?!
Zack: Gyzmoo, your expertise will be required this evening. Please proceed to your labs and continue your research until I call for you. Brutus, ensure that Blake remains preoccupied, and feel free to share details about our secret weaponry and the resources available in the barracks with him. Make sure he feels at ease and welcomed, understood?
Brutus: Yes, sir!
Zack, Regina, and Professor Gyzmoo ascend the staircase leading to the balcony that provides a view of the command room, then opt for a shortcut to the laboratories by passing through an automatic door made of steel next to the elevator.
Brutus: And they say I am an abrasive buffalo over here. Chief Wolfward tends to have frequent mood swings. Well, Mr. Thunder. Let's go.
Brutus and Blake start walking upstairs as well as they talk.
Blake: I know, right? It's hard to predict how he might respond to different situations and what actions he might take. He's strange, but I can sense that he genuinely cares about me.
They step into the elevator, and Brutus presses the button for the ground floor. As the elevator begins its descent, they engage in conversation.
Brutus: You're the reason why Operation Thunderbolt was held off. Chief Wolfward says he would never execute this operation without finding you first. Do you two have some kind of remarkable past experience together?
Blake: We share so many wonderful memories from our childhood, and he felt like a brother to me. Unfortunately, we lost touch for a decade, which is really tough to think about. Honestly, I'd rather not dive into this right now.
Brutus: I see. No worries.
Blake and Brutus arrive on the ground floor, stepping out of the elevator and proceeding directly into the main hall. Brutus guides Blake towards the entrance of Sector 3, which provides access to the barracks. They leave the main hall and pass by several employees in a corridor that connects to another large building. Upon entering it, they find themselves in another huge hall featuring numerous entrances to various facilities, including the armory, cafeteria, shooting range, cloning facility, and several other offices.
Blake: This place is just so huge and elaborate.
Brutus: Didn't you see the external structure of this complex? It's huge, for sure! This took years of painstaking construction to bring something like this into existence. Everything is built thoroughly here.
Blake: Heh. Your people are extremely industrious. Anyway, where are we headed now?
Brutus: Anywhere you want.
Blake: The clone labs it is then!
Brutus: I'll lead the way.
Soon after, Blake notices a cluster of drones equipped with machine guns mounted on their bodies. They are methodically patrolling the corridor, gliding smoothly through the air.
Blake: Brutus? What the hell are those unearthly inventions?
Brutus: Oh yeah. Those are our Onyx drones. We actually have thousands of them in the hangar. I bear exclusive responsibility for them as I am the one developing them. My partner and good friend, Commander Ravendoom, utilizes them in all kinds of operations far beyond Zootopia's borders. You may want to meet him too, but he is currently on a mission. So the clones' purpose is to keep the complex secure from any intruders. We're way ahead of technology compared to the rest of the world. The technology is underdeveloped in other parts of the world, and it's not as advanced as ours. I wish we could make billions of dollars from our products, but Chief Wolfward has no interest in trading with other countries and selling our products across the world as we have only one benefactor supplying us with everything we need to prosper. We provide this benefactor with our resources, armaments, and products in exchange for the realization of our shared objective, which I would prefer to keep confidential for the moment.
Blake: Who are they? Where does all this research and equipment go?
Brutus: Everything we invent and do here is overseen by our authorities from the Pacific Ocean. I am sure Chief Wolfward already told you about that mysterious place. The Odynhood Empire, our big solitary ally. They deliver us the rarest materials and resources they have at disposal so we can continue developing weapons of massive power, even a weapon of mass destruction, and build an army of super soldiers that will conquer this city and all the countries beyond so we can build a better future.
Brutus comes to the realization that he has disclosed a bit too much confidential information already.
Brutus: I think I just spilled the beans, didn't I? So much for keeping everything strictly confidential, eh?
Blake: Zack told me a bit more about that place. I already know more than you think, but I just don't understand why he has such a wicked mind. Does he realize how extremely profitable and beneficial this company is? I think sparing everyone's life and the metropolis itself would be more beneficial for everyone. This place could turn into a money generator if you guys really did business.
Brutus: I tried Blake, I tried my best to have a straightforward conversation with him about making money using our services and products, but we just kept contradicting each other. He'd always threaten to fire me. He does not want to trade with any country or company that is associated with Zootopia or animals in general. In fact, our authorities from the Pacific Ocean strictly prohibit making deals with other companies. We are simply not here to do business with people.
Blake: If the authorities do not allow you to sell the products you make here, especially to animals, who are they then? They are animals too, right? The same kind, so what's up with this bullshit?
Brutus: I wouldn't call them animals, Blake. They're just like Wolfward himself.
Blake: Just what I thought.
Blake and Brutus approach the entrance to the cloning facility, entering a bigger room filled with Onyx guards. This area features a gym equipped with various fitness apparatuses utilized by the clones for their daily training routines. Sergeant Brutus oversees their activities regularly. Upon their arrival, the majority of the clones acknowledge Brutus with enthusiasm. All the clones share identical appearances, resembling wolves with vidid yellow eyes and muscular physiques, the only distinguishing feature being the unique number etched on their chests. Brutus immediately motivates everyone to intensify their efforts.
Brutus: C'mon everyone! Workout with more enthusiasm! Never neglect your training routine! Your condition will deteriorate if you don't train hard like I tell you to do so. Anyone who will manifest lethargy and weakness will be liquidated! You're one of the most important assets of our company! You're the future of it! You have one purpose! To serve Master Wolfward! Do not let him down!
Everyone puts forth their utmost effort in the presence of Sergeant Brutus, who then moves to the next room with Blake, walking up the stairs. They arrive at yet another enormous room made for the cloning process. Brutus guides Blake to a balcony that provides a panoramic view of the entire room. Within this room, over a thousand transparent cloning tanks are filled with water, each containing a wolf clone.
Blake: Unbelievable. If I shared this with anyone, they'd think I'm totally making it up. It's just mind-blowing, seriously!
Brutus: Welcome to the future, Blake. It feels like in sci-fi movies, right?
Blake: Yeah. This is breathtaking, really. I've never seen something like this. I am surprised you guys can keep all of this confidential and safe from disclosure. How many clones are there?
Brutus: Roughly speaking, we've got ten thousand clones. It's an adequate number. Half of them are still immobilized or in a cryogenic tube serving as a backup just in case we'll need them later. Another half is already active, in service guarding the complex or on a mission far from Zootopia. Needless to say, this number is enough to wipe out this animal kingdom.
Blake: How do they behave? Tell me something about their mentality.
Brutus: They got pretty much the same personality. They're loyal, confident, determined, courageous, and so on. I am still trying my best to keep them fit, vigorous, and accomplished. They will do everything in their power to fulfill their true potential, which is destroying Zootopia and building an industrial complex out of it, just like Chief Wolfward demands it. This is their true purpose. If there will be no natural animals left in Zootopia who would help us build the industrial complex from the remnants of Zootopia, then there's the clones that will do the job for us.
Blake: And why do you even support Wolfward's insane plan?
Brutus: I want to emphasize that I take great pleasure in this work, and I have no intention of leaving. The effort I have invested over the past decade would be meaningless if I were to walk away now.
Blake: I understand. You have no other choice. Also, Zack told me something about the Untamed Brutes Clan. I don't think this complex is a hideout for a clan. I didn't even see anyone mention the Untamed Brutes over here.
Brutus: Oh, you got a little misunderstanding there. The Untamed Brutes is a codename that we use if we operate outside the complex, you know, in public to avoid exposure. We actually have a few clients, one of them being Raphael Roarlington himself. We carry out jobs they offer us for money or something useful that we can use in our research.
Blake: Interesting. I thought this Untamed Brutes name was a legit one and that you guys were residing somewhere underground just like all the other clans, including Raphael's.
Brutus: It was all just a misinterpretation, Blake. Anyway, would you like a snack or something? We got plenty of vending machines all around this place.
Blake: No thanks. I think it's time to move to a place that will make me feel like a little kid.
Brutus: Which place?
Blake: Shooting range.
Brutus: I knew it! I'll lead the way. Follow my big ol' ass.
Blake and Brutus are on their way to the shooting range. A short while later, upon arriving at the range, Blake is amazed by the extensive selection of firearms available for him to select from.
Brutus: We've got a wide range of weaponry at our disposal. Feel free to pick from short-range weapons, long-range weapons, assault rifles, shotguns, and much more from the weapon storage.
Blake: Do you have some rubber ducks to shoot here?
Brutus: Nice one, comedian! Hone your skills by shooting the targets in the distance.
Blake: I got it!
Blake begins firing at the most distant targets after acquiring an assault rifle. His aim is remarkably accurate, with nearly every bullet striking the bullseye on each target.
Brutus: Well, I'll be damned! You're so accurate! How are you so damn good at this? It's no surprise Raphael hired you!
Blake: Raphael and his goons from the clan. I could clearly picture them standing in the distance, which is why I was so precise!
Brutus: You appear to be in a conflict with them, I see.
Blake: There's more than conflict involved here. They brought pain and grief upon me, and they're going to pay for everything.
Brutus: You may not want to quarrel with Raphael. What happened that you're seeking vengeance so badly?
Blake: They killed my family!!!
Blake precisely shoots even more targets, completely obliterating them with bullets until he runs out of magazines.
Brutus: I am sorry to hear that, Blake. And it looks like you ran out of ammo. Want more?
Blake sighs in grief.
Blake: No. I'm done. Thanks for showing me around this sector. Brutus, you think you can help me wipe out the GFC? Zack seems to have forgotten about that.
Brutus: Me? I am sorry, but I am not in charge of conducting raids.
Blake: Just what I thought.
Blake walks away from the shooting range, feeling disappointed.
Brutus: But does it matter? They're going to be exterminated anyway upon we execute Operation Thunderbolt.
Blake stops for a second.
Blake: I want to slaughter those detestable animals personally, especially Raphael! He will pay for everything! I have to go.
Brutus: You're not going to take a look around the armory whatsoever?
Blake: I've seen enough, Brutus. Thank you for your time.
Blake continues walking straight out of the shooting range.
Brutus: Where are you going?!
Blake: After Zack, for a serious talk.
Brutus: Shit, I have to come with you.
Blake: Just stay out of it.
Brutus: But I am needed, don't you remember? We have to rendezvous with Chief Wolfward in the lobby.
Blake: Fine.
Shortly thereafter, Brutus and Blake enter the lobby, where Zack and Regina are already waiting for them. They proceed directly toward the pair.
Blake: We meet again! Look, I just remembered that syringe with that red glowing liquid. What is that sorcery? Can someone finally explain how it works and what it actually is?
Zack: Without this girl, I would still be in bed, healing from my injuries, or maybe even not here at all.
Regina: Those syringes contain my regenerative treatment known as Regenerozyn. This injectable medication is designed to restore damaged bodily structures and cells, including fur.
Brutus: That is vital in combat, Regina. I don't understand why we aren't allowed to take some of your healing medicine with us. It'd nearly make us unstoppable or invincible.
Regina: Because it has not yet undergone complete testing. An excessive dosage of Regenerozyn could lead to some serious complications. There are side effects, you know? You wouldn't like to melt during a battle, right?
Brutus: WHAT?!
Regina: I'm just joking! But seriously, an overdose could be deadly for regular animals.
Brutus: Oh, I get it now.
Zack: Guys, we ought to initiate discussions regarding the most significant invention ever developed by Professor Gyzmoo. He is the one who invented the Onyx virus and the superior weapon called the Doominator, which will be used for bringing total destruction upon this city. Its devastating effects will engulf Zootopia, making each animal feral, including herbivores. Predators and their prey are going to slaughter each other. Animals that will survive will be eliminated by our special forces. Once the genocide is over, we will begin demolishing the remnants of Zootopia and will build an industrial complex out of it. I am sick of this city, and I hate the current lifestyle of these creatures. It's about damn time someone brought their real instincts back, and it's me who's going to reinstate the savageness in them. It's me who's going to be the law! This is all part of Operation Thunderbolt. So yeah, that wraps this up. We shall execute this operation tonight!
Blake: Zack, please. Don't do this. It's not the right thing to do. It sounds crazy and unbelievable. You've proven your capabilities. You've proven you're better and more competent than anyone else in this city. But there's no need to cause such chaos. Are you really that heartless?
Zack cuts off Blake.
Zack: Blake, NO! Listen up!
Brutus: Oh hell. You're going to keep wrangling over this again, aren't you?!
Blake raises his voice, making Zack pay attention, while Brutus chooses to distance himself, moving to a nearby bench where he settles in to overhear the dispute of all times.
Blake: No! Just listen for a moment and shut the hell up, Zack! There are millions of families out there! Kids with big dreams they want to chase, amazing places to explore and enjoy. Do you really want to ruin everything around you and take it all away from them? Do you want to tarnish the beauty of this incredible city? I used to feel the same way, but it's just not worth it. Life can be wonderful even without having power over everyone. I understand your desire to be a powerful leader, and I know the offer from the Odynhood Empire is tempting, but is it truly worth destroying all this beauty? I don't think so! I encourage you to think carefully about your choices while you still can! You have the chance to achieve greatness. Consider turning this into a public company! You could make millions from your research here without having to wipe out the entire animal kingdom! Honestly, I'm really disappointed in you. I was almost ready to look up to you, but you don't deserve that admiration.
Blake tries to hold back his tears while Brutus shouts something to him from the distance...
Brutus: I tried to convince him to make it public too, Blake! To make money out of it, but guess what? My ideas were rejected, and my mountainous ass was slightly punished for messing with his nerves.
Zack: It appears that we are both experiencing disappointment in one another, Blake. Please refrain from advising me against my course of action. Given all that I have endured and contributed, this is the final step. There is no turning back. I will not cease my efforts! If I abandon this mission, all the resources and time I have dedicated to this company will have been in vain. Furthermore, I have no desire to face repercussions from the authorities for declining their proposal. I regret that my objectives do not align with your expectations. However, I am resolute in my decision. There is no turning back. If I do not take this initiative, the Odynhood Empire will, and that will be the end of all of our lives! You have two options: either assist me in seizing control of Zootopia as a true friend, an ally, or a brother, or you remain passive and witness the downfall of the kingdom. Cease your sentimental tendencies already! I did not come this far to be obstructed by my closest friend, who has suddenly adopted a stance of compassion. How can you presume to dictate my actions after having taken the lives of countless innocent beings during your time with the Golden Fang Clan? I find it astonishing that someone with your history of violence now seeks to promote peace and tranquility after causing the deaths of so many!
Regina jumps into the intense conversation.
Regina: Blake, is that true? You…
Blake: Yes, but I am not that person anymore. I realized every life matters, and it's worthy. I want to undo my mistakes and be a better fox.
Regina, after hearing what Blake said, is eager to hug Blake but is way too afraid to do so with Zack being in their vicinity.
Zack: Blake, what are you trying to prove here?! We're both blameworthy immoral freaks, thanks to our past. Don't think Regina is going to make your life better when you befriend her and be with her for the rest of your life. I've had enough of this gibberish talk. I've changed my mind! We're executing this operation now!
Regina approaches Zack, feeling exasperated.
Regina: You can't be serious! My family is still out there! I will not support you in anything! I highly disapprove of this devastating operation! You assured me that you would look after my family by letting them stay with us in this complex! They're still out there! How could you lie to me like this?
Zack: I can't do anything for them at this point. It's not my concern anymore. Go back home and show them how much you love them while you still can!
Regina: Are you kidding me?!?
Zack: How long have you been working here?
Regina: Five years. Why the heck are you asking? C'mon, don't do this to me!
Zack: Five years. You've had five years to move out of this city with them.
Regina gets really angry and slaps Zack across the face hard.
Regina: I refuse to stand by and watch them endure pain and perish out there simply because of your selfishness and cruelty, you heartless moron!
Zack turns around, holding his face with his hand, while Brutus stands up from the bench, shocked. Regina absorbed the attention of everyone in the lobby.
Brutus: Well, ugh... I am going to go for now to keep myself distanced from this outrage.
Brutus turns and departs. Regina's ears droop as she takes a few hesitant steps back from Zack, overwhelmed with nervousness and regret.
Regina: I am... sorry, Zack! Forgive me. I overreacted.
Zack turns to face her, his eyes distinctly tinged with red once more, a clear indication of his anger.
Blake: Zack?! Oh no! I've seen this look in his eyes before!
Regina: What's wrong with your eyes?
Zack: You slapped me, humiliated me, and dreadfully disrespected me! You are doomed, girl!
Zack forcefully seizes Regina, yanking her towards him with a firm grip on her coat.
Regina: I truly apologize! Please, STOP!
Blake: HEY! I swear, if you lay a hand on her, I will beat the living shit out of you!
Zack: Oh, I am not going to hurt her. I am just…
Zack snatches Regina's ID card from her coat and tosses it aside.
Zack: You are fired! I want you to pack your shit in your room and be gone! I'll give you two hours, and then I want you to be gone. Don't try anything stupid, understand? Your access to all sectors of this complex will be revoked. Go, talk to your family while you can, because time is running out. The clock is ticking. Now, get out of my sight!!!!
Zack shoves Regina, causing her to tumble to the ground.
Blake: Zack, you're really blowing this out of proportion! I've had enough of this. I don't want to be around you anymore! Why would you do this to her?
Blake extends his paw to Regina, helping her up, but she suddenly bursts into tears and dashes toward the elevators.
Blake: Regina! Wait! This is all your fault, Zack! Do you suffer from some kind of chronic mental disorder? Think about your actions! You're having a negative impact on everyone around you! You're not the Zack I've known!
Zack: Blake, just hear me out! My only wish is for us to find happiness together. I need your support because you are my closest friend. We have a promising future ahead, yet the world we inhabit does not accept us for who we are. We are met with contempt! People regard us with disdain! This is why I yearn for a fresh start. I have made significant mistakes in the past, just as you have! I want to rectify those errors and become a better person! I want to create a new beginning in a world where we will be honored and respected. In this current state of the kingdom, you will never receive the admiration or love you deserve due to your past, but in my new empire, you will have the chance to start afresh, to be who you always wanted to be!
Blake interrupts Zack...
Blake: Enough with this sheer nonsense already! You've completely lost it! Honestly, I'm quite content with my life just the way it is, and I have no desire to ruin anyone else's life for my own gain, happiness, or satisfaction!
Zack: Oh, are you really that happy? Without your family, yes?
Blake: Don't you bring them up ever again!!! This is a very sensitive topic you
Zack: I know you're hurt inside, and I am offering you a life you can't deny!
Blake: Zack! Wreaking havoc on the city and killing its inhabitants won't bring my family back!
Blake shoves Zack, causing him to stumble back a few steps.
Blake: Just get out of my life already! I don't need you! I really don't want to see you again! You've made everything in my life so much worse! And what about poor Regina? I wish you could show a little more compassion. How would you feel if you were in her shoes? I'm going to find her and have a chat, and after that, I'll be out of your life for good. You can do whatever you want, but remember this: if you execute Operation Thunderbolt, you will kill your best friend too, or should I say, your only friend? Yeah, look at yourself! You have no friends because nobody is insane and idiotic enough to support your ideology. Want to take me out? Go for it! Spread your chaos all over the city! End my pain, end my life, so I can reunite with my family! Why are you so quiet now? Say something, you fool!
Blake shoves Zack once more, and Zack's furious red eyes shift back to a sorrowful blue, reflecting his despair...
Blake: C'mon! Say something already, you petrified scumbag!!!
Blake completely loses his cool and throws a punch at Zack, showing no mercy whatsoever. Zack hardly reacts to the blow, remaining steady and expressionless. Just then, two security drones and a group of Onyx guards arrive, pointing their weapons directly at Blake...
Onyx Guard 1: Chief Wolfward! Sir! Are you okay?! Our security systems have identified Blake Thunder as a hostile target.
Onyx Guard 2: Hands in the air!
Blake refuses to put his hands in the air.
Blake: Piss off!
Onyx Guard: We will terminate Blake Thunder on your command, Chief.
Zack: No, it's fine. Disperse, now!
The Onyx guards return to their posts as well as the assault drones.
Zack: Mistreatment, emotional pain. They have no end. Blake Thunder, I never thought I'd get hurt by you. Hurt by someone who means everything to me. You'll face the scourge of my wrath soon! Our brotherly love has dwindled. It's not as powerful as it used to be, and it deeply hurts me inside. I am sorry. I have to go. I ruined everything. It should have never come to this.
Zack lowers his ears and begins to walk back to the command center. Blake exhales heavily, filled with both frustration and sorrow, as he retrieves Regina's ID card from the ground and sets out to locate her within the complex. He approaches the elevators and presses a button, which transports him to the floor reserved for employee accommodations. Upon exiting the elevator, a computerized voice announces across the complex, "Doctor Regina Quinn has been dismissed."
Blake: He will never change his mind.
Blake exits the elevator and starts looking for Regina's room down a lengthy corridor. After a few minutes of searching, he finally spots her door. He walks up to it, notices her name displayed, and knocks, hearing muffled sobs from inside. Regina furiously replies to the knock.
Regina: Go away! Leave me alone!
Blake quickly opens the door and finds Regina nestled on her bed, surrounded by her stuffed animals, tears streaming down her face.
Blake: May I come in?
Regina looks at Blake, her surprise clearly visible as she takes in his unexpected presence.
Regina: Blake?! Yes!
As Blake enters, she grabs a handful of tissues and wipes her nose. Her lab coat lies in tatters on the floor.
Blake: I am so sorry about what just happened.
Regina: That's alright! How did you manage to find me so quickly?
Blake: My keen fox instincts brought me to this spot. Your room has such a classy and beautiful vibe! I love it!
Regina smiles and wipes her tears.
Regina: Why did you come here?
Blake: I just wanted to keep you company and talk to you considering how much stress and sorrow you're dealing with.
Regina: That's very nice of you. I wish the current circumstances weren't so harsh and bad. I don't know what to do, that jerk. I hate him so much!
Blake: I know Regina. His decisions are very stringent, and they make others desperate and suffer. He is a self-centered, inconsiderate buffoon. We all know that, right? I've known him since I was like seven years old. He has been my best friend since childhood, but I'm not sure I can still call him a friend. We had a really tough and unpleasant situation in the lobby that changed everything between us.
Regina: I know Blake; I truly do know everything.
Blake: You do?
Regina: Yes. I saw and heard everything.
Blake: How?
Regina shows her phone to him, revealing that it was linked to the security cameras throughout the complex, which allowed her to access any video feed she wanted.
Blake: That's cool! I bet the whole complex watched me and Zack argue like rabid dogs.
Regina: Probably. You're so valiant. You lashed out at him and punched him in the face. How could you do that? You know that belligerent freak could've killed you, right? You were then approached by his guards. You put yourself at great risk down there.
Blake: It was about damn time someone knocked some sense into his face. I was pretty certain he would not harm me since I am his "everything.".
Regina: I lost connection to the camera systems afterwards. As you know, I am pretty much fired and erased from the database, so I was completely disconnected from the security systems.
Blake approaches Regina's drawer table and spots something truly precious sitting on its surface.
Blake: Is that them?
Regina: Who?
Blake points at a family photo on the table.
Regina: Yes...
Regina starts shedding tears again while Blake sits next to her on her bed.
Blake: I know you're afraid of losing them. I was a happily married fox ten years ago. I lost my family in a heartbeat. I was blessed with two wonderful children, Cosmo and Rudolph. They were my treasures, my shining stars, and the center of my world, alongside my amazing wife.
Regina: I am sorry about that. A fox like you didn't deserve to have its family taken away forever. I am afraid I'll lose them too. I wish I was able to get them to safety, but I failed. I failed everyone. I'll just pack my stuff and return home to be with them while I can. There's no chance I'm bringing them here now that I am done with that idiot.
Blake gently rests his paw on Regina's back and gives it a soft rub, offering her some comfort.
Blake: I will do everything I can to make sure they survive, regardless of the sacrifices I have to make.
Regina: Are you serious? How? You're not going to kill Wolfward, are you?
Blake: I'm not kidding around here. I have a "friend" who could potentially help bring this company and everything else to justice!
Regina: Is he trustworthy?
Blake: More or less, but look, you don't need to worry about anything, okay? Just stay calm, and Blakey will do everything to save the world or this city, okay?
Blake rubs her head softly, making her smile even more. That's when she stops crying.
Blake: Now that's the spirit! Your smile really brings out the beauty in your adorable face. I hope you don't mind me getting a little cozy and friendly with you.
Regina: Oh my god, no! It's fine! Thank you! May I... oh, screw it.
Regina squeezes Blake in a hug so tight it feels like it could break a few of his bones. Blake, totally caught off guard and thrilled to be embraced by someone so attractive and lovely, wraps his arms around her too, soaking in the warmth of her body.
Blake: That's my baby girl! Oh, I can feel tears flowing down my back. You're shedding them again, aren't you? You fennec foxes are so emotional.
Regina: I am sorry. I can't hold them back, not when you're so compassionate and kind to me. These are actually tears of happiness. Thank you for coming after me.
Blake releases her, and they both stare deeply into their eyes.
Blake: You're beautiful. You remind me of my wife.
Regina: That's really kind of you! You know, I have a strong liking for you already. I haven't felt this wanted for a really long time, and once this whole nightmare is behind us and we survive, we can maybe... hang out? I barely made any friends here. We can be friends, right? I'd love to introduce you to my family and my little sister—she's definitely going to adore you!
Blake: I haven't made many friends either during the past couple of years. I'll be more than happy to meet your family too! Also, why aren't you allowed to go home each working day when you finish work? You really are isolated here.
Regina: Since I signed a contract, I can only head home if Zack gives me the green light to leave the complex. But honestly, it's irrelevant now. I've been fired, so it's all over for me. But damn, he compensated me really well, and I can't deny that. But at this point, it doesn't matter anymore. I'm as good as dead once they set Operation Thunderbolt in motion.
Blake: No, you're not. Not when I am still around!
At the command center -
At the same time, Zack is wandering through the command center, feeling utterly dejected following the significant dispute with his best friend.
Onyx Officer: Sir, a Gryphon dropship is requesting authorization to land on our roof.
Zack: They're clear to land.
Onyx Officer: Gryphon Unit G-147 has been granted a clearance to land, over.
The sophisticated Gryphon dropship descends onto the rooftop of the facility. As its doors swing open, a contingent of troops disembarks, led by an imposing figure, a black shepherd, distinguished by his red hair and fierce yellowish eyes. This shepherd has arrived to convey a significant message directly to the head of Onyx Technologies. He instructs his soldiers to remain by the dropship while he is accompanied to the command center by two of his men. Moments later, he arrives at the command center and pauses on the balcony to survey the entire area, with the primary objective of establishing clear communication with Zack.
Zack: Commander Ravendoom, It is a delight to see you here. I trust that your mission was successful.
Commander Ravendoom: Is the weapon ready?
Zack: I knew you'd ask me this question; no, it's not. It still requires a few modifications and further testing before we can use it.
Commander Ravendoom: I've come to apprise you of the new demand of the Odynhood Empire. Empress Odynhood wants you to execute Operation Thunderbolt promptly. We can't afford losing more time.
Zack: Just tell her I need a few more hours. I'll get the job done, I promise. I can't do it now. The weapon is not ready; it is not in stable condition yet. We're doing our best to conquer this city. I promise all its residents will be purged by tomorrow, and then we can take over the kingdom.
Commander Ravendoom: How much time do you need? We've given you way too much time to prepare for the conquest, and did you finally find that friend of yours?
Zack: Indeed, I have. The sole factor hindering me now from commencing this operation is the bioweapon itself. I have reunited with Blake today, and I would proceed with the mission if the weapon was prepared and thoroughly tested.
Commander Ravendoom: Excuses, excuses! You know, we had to put off the conquest for far too long, all thanks to that fox you call your best friend, just because you didn't want him to become the victim of the ultimate destruction of this city, and now you're saying that the bioweapon isn't ready? What is the reason behind this? You had ten years to develop such weaponry and utilize it, Subject Alpha!
Zack: It's not just that.
Commander Ravendoom: What's the problem then?
Zack: I don't think I can do it.
Commander Ravendoom: Is that a joke? Subject Alpha, this isn't you. You look dejected. What happened?
Zack: I just don't feel up to it.
Commander Ravendoom starts walking slowly down stairs as he talks.
Commander Ravendoom: Just when I believed you were our most accomplished subject, you chose to behave like a feeble, pathetic individual unable to realize your true potential. Backing out was never an option! Tell me, is it because of Blake Thunder?
Zack: Look, as much as I want to achieve our mutual goal, part of me thinks it's a stupid idea. I don't think it's worth it. I am afraid it's going to break my only true friendship with Blake, and I can't let that happen.
Commander Ravendoom approaches him, bummed out.
Commander Ravendoom: Blake has a deterrent influence on your mental health. Any opinions or thoughts he expresses regarding Operation Thunderbolt should not be regarded with seriousness, and your purpose is not to forge friendships! Remember that! This Blake guy is attempting to hinder your progress toward your primary objective. Now, tell me what additional support you require from us to expedite the development process.
Zack: Okay, I am sorry, but I wasn't entirely forthcoming with you; the weapon is actually prepared for deployment.
Commander Ravendoom: Now that's more convincing! You know, I can't stand when someone lies straight into my face. You do realize you got a lifetime chance to become Neyla's right-hand man, right? If you want to lead our armies, you better do whatever it takes to be worthy of that position. And remember, you're nothing but an artificial creature, the property of the Odynhood Empire and our most powerful weapon! If you want to be more than just a mere pawn in the game, you will adhere to our wishes with zero objections!
Zack: I pledge that I will fulfill my destiny. Just promise me you will let Blake live after this is over. I can't live without him.
Commander Ravendoom: I shall reconsider myself, but only if you keep Blake Thunder under control. He is nothing but a liability to our master plan!
Zack: I'll consider it done.
Commander Ravendoom: I just want you to be completely subservient, regardless of the ramifications of our decisions. You are the key to our glorious future, Subject Alpha! You can create a friendlier place for all of us just by unleashing that bioweapon you made in your labs! We must take back what rightfully belongs to the Odynhood Empire!
Zack: I still owe you so much after everything you've provided to my company. I will repay you for your massive support!
Commander Ravendoom: That's more like it! And don't forget who helped you gain the upper hand over this entire city and its surroundings! Now, I will give you twelve hours to execute this operation, no more. Neyla is going to kick my ass for this.
Zack: Thanks to this extra time, I may be able to make Blake change his view about Operation Thunderbolt.
Commander Ravendoom: Speaking of that fox, where can I find him? I'd like to introduce myself to him.
Zack: He went after Miss Quinn after I kicked her out for her persisting disobedience because she could not come in terms with our plans, and now she's probably already packing her bags and moving out for good. You may go after them, but don't do anything downright stupid that would piss me off!
Commander Ravendoom: I shall check up on her and make sure she is expelled from this corporation entirely.
Commander Ravendoom walks back upstairs, exiting the command room accompanied by his guards, while Zack remains motionless, contemplating whether to pursue him in order to avert any additional conflict.
- In Regina's room -
Blake: Listen, I will make sure you and your family survive, even if it will probably cost me my very own life.
Regina: Look, I appreciate your willingness to help, but we're in this together. I want to help you too, and I won't leave this complex without you. You are the only one who shares my opinion about Operation Thunderbolt. Everyone around me is dedicated to bringing this to fruition. I'm the only regular employee who sees the terrible motives of this corporation; the rest are going about their tasks without realizing who they're really working for and what the true purpose of this corporation is.
Blake: Rest assured, Regina, we are going to go through this together, but your family is more important than anything else right now. We have to...
Three loud knocks are heard on the door, interrupting Blake.
Blake: Shit! They are probably coming for you. Hide under your bed! I'll deal with them!
Regina experiences intense anxiety and retreats beneath her bed. Blake approaches the door and swings it open, revealing Commander Ravendoom, accompanied by his guards positioned behind him.
Blake: What do you want, assholes?!
Commander Ravendoom: Watch your language, fox! You're talking to an esteemed officer, your superior! Hold on a moment; you don't look like Miss Quinn. It seems we may have mistaken this room with another, gentlemen. You are making me very bewildered. What are you doing in Regina's room? Where is she? You are not authorized to be present here, fox, or would it be more appropriate to address you as Blake?
Blake: Who the hell are you, and how do you know my name? And I am sure as hell I am authorized to be here. Just piss off with your lackeys!
Commander Ravendoom: How could Wolfward befriend such an uncouth fox?
Blake: Who are you? Answer me! What do you want, goddammit?! Did Wolfward send you or what?!
Commander Ravendoom: You don't recognize me? Really? That's lame and very unacceptable. Everyone around this complex knows my name. I am Commander Raymond Ravendoom of the Gryphon Forces, and I am wondering what makes such a stranger like you enter the private room of Regina Quinn? I have been informed that she has been dismissed from this organization, which is why I have come to ascertain whether she has departed. It goes without saying that you are the individual who is strongly opposed to Operation Thunderbolt, correct?
Blake: Yeah, but what's it to you? You talk way too much, dog. She is not here. I was told to clear her room and move everything out. And I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Commander Ravendoom: Don't think I can't distinguish an honest person from a pathetic liar, fox!
Raymond uses a stun baton to deliver an electric shock to Blake, incapacitating him.
Commander Ravendoom: Where is she?
Blake: Why don't you take a break and find something more productive to do instead of wasting your time looking for her? Go soak your head, mate!
Commander Ravendoom: You two, search the room.
Two of his guards enter the room and begin searching for Regina while Raymond steps on Blake's neck, slightly choking him.
Commander Ravendoom: I am not going to ask you again, Fox! Where is she?!
Blake: I am not telling you shit, jerkface!
Regina is unable to bear witnessing Blake's suffering on the floor and decides to roll out from beneath the bed.
Regina: Stop! I am here! Stop hurting him!
Blake: Regina! No!
Commander Ravendoom: Liar! Miss Quinn. I see you got a partner for mating purposes over here. Shame.
Regina: We're only friends! Let him be! I'm willing to do anything you ask, and you can do whatever you like with me! Please, just stop!
Commander Ravendoom: I won't go easy on a dishonest, insolent fox like this one over here!
Raymond delivers a kick to Blake's snout. Blood begins to flow from Blake's nose.
Blake: C'mon! Is that all you got?! You weakling!
Regina: Stop this act right now!!!
Regina hurries over to Raymond, attempting to push him away from Blake, but her attempt goes awry as he shoves her back, nearly causing her to fall to the ground.
Commander Ravendoom: Silly little vixen, you will face punishment too for staying in here even after your expulsion! Seize her! You two are so undisciplined, behaving like immature little brats! This will not be tolerated in this organization!
Regina is pulled back and restrained by two guards, who force her to lie face down on the ground. One of the guards steps on her back, applying significant pressure to it, immobilizing her and inflicting discomfort.
Regina: Please stop! It hurts!
Blake: Leave her alone or I will kill you all!!!!
Commander Ravendoom: Oh, shut your dirty mouth, fox!
Blake, still sprawled on the floor with blood streaming from his nose, receives another kick to the face from Raymond, making him somewhat unconscious.
Regina: NO! NO! NO! NO! BLAKE! Look, forgive me for staying here for too long after being expelled. I was just about to leave the complex! Leave him alone! Please! What's wrong with you? Seriously!
Raymond draws his firearm from its holster and approaches Regina, who is restrained on the ground. He kneels beside her and begins to speak.
Commander Ravendoom: Your apology has no meaning to me.
Regina: I really need you to give me a break! Wolfward only gave me two hours to gather my things and move out, just so you know! I've got about an hour left! Leave Black out of this! I came after me to help me move my stuff! Leave us alone! PLEASE!
Regina starts sobbing on the ground, moaning in pain while one of the guards is stepping on her.
Commander Ravendoom: I doubt he would allow you to stay here for an extra few hours after you were dismissed. And don't worry. I won't do anything to your "friend" over here. He is finished, which means I finally have the opportunity to kill you. You got nothing to fight for after all! You're a useless weepy fox worthy of punishment, and so is he!
Regina: We had such a strong, professional relationship until this moment. I don't understand why you've transformed into someone so harsh and heartless. I haven't wronged you in any way!
Commander Ravendoom: Because you are a disgrace to our company, you should have left when you had the chance! I know everything. The argument with Wolfward you had, that's inexcusable. And then there's this damned fox who is dashing Wolfward's hopes of fulfilling his dream. I am mad at both of you!
Raymond puts his gun next to Regina's head, ready to pull the trigger.
Commander Ravendoom: Sweet dreams, sunshine!
Blake: Don't you dare knucklehead!!!!
At that instant, Blake jumps onto Raymond's back, causing him to lose his balance. In the chaos, Raymond fires his gun, hitting the ceiling. They both tumble to the floor and begin to grapple, exchanging several punches in the process.
Gryphon Guard: Sir, mind if we help?
As Raymond struggles with Blake, he hardly responds...
Commander Ravendoom: No! He is mine!!!
While Raymond is momentarily distracted by one of his guards, Blake seizes the opportunity to deliver a decisive strike, leaving Raymond dazed. At this moment, Blake stands up quick and places his foot on Raymond's chest, drawing his gun and pointing it directly at Raymond's head.
Commander Ravendoom: Not bad! C'mon! Pull the trigger and see what happens next! You will join me in the depths soon enough!
Blake speaks between breaths, clearly out of breath.
Blake: It's over, you dirty dog! This ends here! Tell your men to release Regina, or I will kill you all!
Raymond refuses to order his guards to release Regina, and then suddenly, the Chief of Onyx Technologies, Zack Wolfward, enters the room. He is standing in the doorway, upset, along with a pack of Onyx guards standing behind him.
Zack: Release her NOW! And get out!
The guard pinning down Regina releases her. She is still sobbing on the ground in pain.
Blake: Zack?
Blake puts away his gun and takes a step back from Raymond.
Commander Ravendoom: Oh, shit.
Zack: Raymond! How could you act in such a manner? Are you aware of the importance of Blake Thunder?
Commander Ravendoom: I am going to guess. He is a serious impediment to all of us!
Zack: Wrong! Stand up! You started this, didn't you?! I told you not to do anything stupid that would piss me off. Look at this mess!
Commander Ravendoom: Look, I was incensed at his crudity! He is the one to blame here!
Zack: He is my best friend! If you touch or harm him one more time, I will completely obliterate you regardless of your position. You got no power here! I am the head of this complex, meaning I can easily dispatch you. Get out! Immediately!
The Onyx guards aim their weapons at Raymond.
Commander Ravendoom: Is that so? All this sudden disrespect just because of that fox? How shameful. Remember, two hours, Zack, no more. The fate of this entire complex and your dear friend depends on you. If you don't execute Operation Thunderbolt in two hours, I will raze Onyx Technologies to the ground. You and that dimwitted fox will be chucked in front of the firing squad. Is that what you want?
Zack: Two hours? Seriously?! You initially gave me twelve hours to get this done, and now you're telling me I only have two?
Commander Ravendoom: That's what you get for disrespecting, threatening, and opposing your superior! Make haste!
Raymond glances at Blake for a short time.
Commander Ravendoom: And you, you haven't seen the last of me, Blake Thunder! Our paths shall cross again!
Raymond and his guards walk away.
Zack: Are you okay, Blake? You got blood all over your body.
Blake: Yes, everything's fine. I could've handled this without your help too! But still, thank you. I know I said some really hurtful stuff an hour ago; I didn't mean any of it.
Zack: That's fine. I got used to being mistreated my whole life. How about you, Regina? You alright?
Regina remains silent, leaning against her bed, lost in her thoughts.
Zack: I understand that you're upset with me, but I really want to show you that I'm not as cold-hearted as you think. You can stay here for as long as you need, but I have to let you know that you no longer have access to any of the sectors in the building. You're not in the system anymore. I wouldn't advise trying to go through the security systems, as the drones and turrets will just start going crazy and shit.
Regina: My family...
Zack: What?!
Regina: Can I bring here my family unless you've aborted that operation?
Zack: Are we really going to go through this again? NO! And the operation is still being planned and will be executed tonight. You heard Raymond, right? I got two hours now to take over this city! Fricking hell!
Regina: Zack, please! I won't stay here knowing that my family is out there in danger, no way.
Zack: I said no! It's your choice, whether you stay or not. You can join them and die with them if you really want to. Allowing you to stay here after being fired is the least I can do for you. I'll give you two some privacy. You seem to be really good friends already. Have fun, and I want to hear no more remarks that defy my orders or the operation itself. And Blake, it might be a good idea for you to get a medical check-up or at least take a shower. You look terrible, man! That hideous dog mauled you good!
Blake: I'll be fine! It's just my snout. Look, I know you don't want to destroy this city. Admit it! The look on your face says it all.
Zack: Shut up! I was created for wiping out your race!
Blake: This is something a natural-born madman would say. Can't you see? They are using you to their advantage!!! Do you really think they will make you their ruler or something after you destroy our city? NO! Just think about it! You have been indoctrinated by them to believe your main goal is to wipe us all out. You're their puppet! Their sidekick!
Zack: Look, part of me wants to live a normal life among animals and have a family. But my other half is just full of malice with a firm goal. I can't control it. I have to do this. To save us both. If I reject this, they will kill us all. There's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
Blake: How can you be sure they won't turn against you? What if this is just a setup? What if you end up destroying this city and they betray you right after?
Zack: Taking action is much preferable to inaction. In truth, I am determined to eliminate the animals permanently. By achieving this goal, I will kill two birds with one stone: gaining control over this city and establishing myself as the warlord of Gryphonia. There is no stopping me. I am compelled to follow the directives of my superiors. I am sorry, bro.
Blake: Gryphonia? Listen, whatever is out there in the Pacific Ocean, taking over Zootopia won't be a walk in the park. The ZDF is ready to protect it with all their might, and as a former ZDF soldier, I can assure you they have some serious firepower. You'll be outmatched! Please reconsider this! I am begging you!
Zack: Then, at this point, war is inevitable. I will do what I must. You see, the Odynhood Empire has run out of patience. They will take action if the operation doesn't get executed promptly!
Zack walks out of Regina's room, shutting the door behind.
Blake: He will never learn. SHIT!
Blake sighs in despair, not knowing what to do.
Regina: I really hate him.
Regina stands up and stretches.
Regina: My back hurts really bad.
Blake suddenly feels lightheaded, so he sits down and rests against Regina's wardrobe. Regina rushes over to him in concern.
Regina: Are you okay?
Blake: I'll live. Don't worry. I just feel a bit lightheaded, that's it. I was so worried about losing you. Luckily, I managed to stop that idiot from shooting you just in time.
Regina: You're my hero! You saved my life! You're so strong, too! I thought you were a goner after you got punched and kicked multiple times.
Blake chuckles softly as he struggles to get to his feet.
Regina: Here. Let me help you, darling.
Regina helps Blake stand up.
Blake: Darling? Don't you ever call me like that, cupcake!
Regina: What did you call me?
They share a laugh for a moment, and then Blake lifts Regina into his arms and takes her to her bed.
Regina: What do you think you're doing, sly fox?
Blake: Putting my baby girl to bed, you need to rest. This was a really difficult day for you.
Blake puts Regina in her bed and surrounds her with her plush toys...
Regina: You make me look like a newborn! Stop!
She blushes hard.
Blake: Spread kindness, not hate. This is the new version of me, see?
Regina: Yup, just be careful. My back still hurts.
Blake: How could anyone hurt such a beautiful princess like you are? I am so sorry about your back. I'll go take a shower now. You stay here and rest, okay?
Regina: Awww, you're so sweet! What are you going to do next? We have to do something about Zack. We can't let him destroy everything we love.
Blake: I am going to head to the ZPD and see if my old friend still trusts me so I can make him aware of Zack's disastrous plans. Uh...I don't even think the word "friend" is applicable here in this case. I still hope I can somehow manage to contact the ZDF. Time is running out quickly.
Regina: Wait, you aren't friends anymore?
Blake: It's uh...complicated. I'll be back in a few minutes. Where's the shower?
Regina: It's right on your right, dummy.
Regina smiles brightly as she stares at Blake.
Blake: Oh, I see now. It's your personal one, actually.
Blake steps into the bathroom and begins his shower shortly after.
Seven minutes pass...
Blake emerges from the shower wearing just his pants. Regina is sitting on her bed, gazing out the window, when Blake walks over to her. She glances at his toned physique and is immediately amazed by the sight.
Regina: H-hi! Where's your...shirt?
Blake: Oh, I almost forgot. Hold on a second.
Blake returns to the bathroom and starts putting on his shirt, but Regina intervenes.
Regina: No! No! No! You can stay shirtless.
Blake: Oh....fine.
Regina: Why don't you rest? Lay down with me if that makes you comfortable.
Blake: I am not entirely sure... I need a shirt.
Regina: That's not necessary.
Regina grabs Blake and pulls him down onto her bed...
Blake: Easy...easy...damn...you just can't wait to take a nap with me, can you?
Regina: Maybe...just...make yourself comfortable and lay down next to me...
Blake lays next to Regina.
Regina: Blake....
Blake: Yes?
Regina: We're friends, right?
Blake: Of course we are; why are you asking? Is there something on your mind that you'd like to tell me?!
Regina: Well, I remember you told me something back in the lobby. You said I have the heart of an angel and... that you need me in your life... to be a better fox. You meant it, right?
Blake becomes nervous and responds...
Blake: Yes. That came out of me so randomly... I don't know what that was.
Regina: I could say the same about you. You're exactly what I need. You cure my depression; you just pulled me out of pure darkness and showed me the way to light. You filled the dark void in my heart with joy. Thank you! You accomplished this in just a few hours! I truly appreciate people like you.
Regina rests her head against Blake's chest, enveloped in a sense of comfort and security. Blake, feeling flattered by her affection, places his paw on her back and softly strokes it. He finds it hard to grasp the moment, as it's been a long time since he experienced such closeness after losing his wife. Although he's unsure of his emotions, he feels grateful to have someone who truly cares for him by his side.
Blake: You're adorable and charming! I'm really happy that I could add more beauty and meaning to your life.
They gaze into each other's eyes with intensity. He longs for the days when he was the gentle fox. As he caresses Regina's back, he senses her vulnerability, stirring a deep protective urge within him. It seems like they are on the verge of sharing a tender kiss when Blake unexpectedly interrupts by gently nudging Regina away from him. He takes a seat on the edge of the bed.
Regina: Hey! What are you doing?!
Blake: I am going to save you, your family, AND this city!
Regina: So much for keeping everything tranquil.
Blake: Shit! Look, I appreciate your tender attitude and the affection you show to me, but we're losing so much time. We need to focus on saving this city. I have to get to the ZPD, and I need a car to do that.
Regina: You can take my car; here's the key.
Regina picks up her car keys from the bedside table and hands them to Blake.
Blake: Listen up, Regina. While I'm away, I need you to stay safe here. Please avoid anything that could put you in danger, and steer clear of Commander Jerkface if he's still around. Just promise me you'll stay put, alright? I've already lost too many friends, and I can't bear the thought of losing you as well!
Regina: You better promise me, promise you'll return alive with whatever reinforcements you are about to bring to stop Zack!
Blake: This sly fox made it this far. It'd be a huge disgrace for me to give up or die now that I have something to live for.
Blake goes to the bathroom to pick up his shirt and jacket, then returns all dressed up.
Blake: Well, I am leaving. The ZPD needs to be aware of what's currently going on here, especially the ZDF. Stay safe!
Blake approaches the door, but then Regina quickly stops him.
Regina: I think you're missing something.
Blake: What?
Regina shows Blake her car keys.
Blake: Oh my bad, I am such a dummy.
Blake walks back to Regina to take her keys...
Blake: One second. What kind of car do you have?
Regina: I have a white Lexus LC 500.
Blake: Uh....shit. Never heard of this type. Where can I find it?
Regina: Look out of the window. This building perfectly overlooks the whole parking lot. My car is right there!
Regina indicates the car to Blake by gesturing towards it.
Regina: It's right in the corner of the parking lot next to that truck.
Blake: Thanks. It looks really neat from up here.
Regina: Trust me, you'll love it up close.
Blake: I see Zack pays you well. I mean, he paid.
Regina: Yeah. Well, I'll be a good girl and stay here while you're gone. I still think I should check your condition. How do you feel? Are you sure you're going to be alright?
Blake: Look, I am still breathing. That's all that matters. If Zack happens to be searching for me, tell him that I went home to get something. Actually, I do have to go home to grab my photo album. So yeah.
Regina: Your photo album?
Blake: Yes, I got family pictures there.
Regina: Awww. I want to see it so badly!
Blake: I'll get it too on my way back from the ZPD.
Blake steps out of her room and heads toward the elevators. A few minutes later, he is spotted in the lobby making his way to the building's exit when Zack unexpectedly approaches him from behind and halts his progress.
Zack: Just where do you think you're going?!
Blake: I am going home to get something that is extremely valuable to me.
Zack: Which is?
Blake: Well, my photo album. That's everything that's left of my family.
Zack: Need a ride? You don't plan to walk all the way to your house from here, do you? You need a car.
Blake shows Regina's car keys.
Blake: I got one already.
Zack: Regina.....
Blake: May I go now?
Zack: Yes. But avoid the ZPD AT ALL COSTS! Be careful out there, and oh, take this.
Zack tosses Blake a compact gadget designed for staying in touch with the headquarters of Onyx Technologies.
Zack: Keep it with you all the time in case you find yourself in a tough spot. Just press the red button to reach our headquarters. Be back soon, okay? Operation Thunderbolt awaits! Don't take too long!
Blake continues walking outside without uttering a single word. Once outside, he spots Regina's car, hops in, fires it up, and accelerates hard, leaving skid marks in his wake. His next stop is the ZPD, where he hopes to reconnect with his old "friend" Nick Wilde and maybe join forces to prevent Zack from seizing control of this lovely city.
