Kapitel 49: SCARLET

A blind woman with green hues.

Evandros stilled for a second. He stared at her and kept gaping at her until her unclear gaze diverted toward his silhouette. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to take in the feature of the person standing before her. Without a word, she stood up with the kid still in her arms and slightly bowed at both of them.

"Drop the honorifics already," Sina said politely. Before the woman could say something a bunch of young maidens surrounded the stall. Sina quickly gestured for Neel to come over to her. The kid scowled and looked at the woman. He grabbed her clothed cheeks and smooched her clothed cheek before she slowly let the boy down, turning towards her customers.

Neel walked into Sina's arm as the woman turned around to leave but halted when she noticed her nephew still in his position. His dark black orbs fixated on the woman.

She looked at the woman before looking back at him, nudging his arm to bring him back to his senses. He absentmindedly turned to face her, blinking several times as if he just got out of his trance.

"Is everything okay?" Sina asked and he slightly nodded his head. " Yes." He answered and with that, both of them strolled away from the stall. He couldn't help but side-glance at the stall. His gaze sharpened.

********

"Have a good night," Sina said and with that, she sauntered into her room. "You too," Evan said and looked down at their empty tea cups. With a blank gaze, he grabbed her empty teacup and looked inside it. "Sleep well." He muttered under his breath knowing well that she will rest well after all he gave her sleeping pills. The exact pills he made and used to fall asleep.

With a stern face and blank gaze, he stood up from the buffer and walked out of his room. Carefully, sliding the door closed. His gaze swiftly roams around his surroundings. The corridors were vacant and the surroundings were relaxed meaning everyone was sleeping.

With no sound of footsteps, he ambled out of the house and stopped on the veranda. He huffed out a breath and closed his eyes. His heart is beating so fast he can hear it in his ears. What he was about to do was surely reckless for the peaceful village but he needed to confirm something. Only then he will be able to calm down a little.

His heart and his instincts say...otherwise.

He straightened his face and raised his right hand as he moved his sleeve back so that he could see his demonic pet that was wrapped around his wrist as a black tattoo. His lips parted as he started to murmur a spell.

That black tattoo started to move and soon left his skin. The demonic Eagle was flapping his massive black flame wings in front of his face.

"Fetch chaos where not much demolition can be held out and don't annihilate. Send signals if the soulmate comes." He ordered his pet. His voice was gravelly and sluggish. His pet heightened up in the ear and with that, it flew away.

Evandros took out his handkerchief from inside his robe and wrapped it around his face. He passed one last glimpse at the back of the manor before clambering off the huge walls of the manor and strolling down the empty streets.

Moon was full and was enlightening the dark alleys of the village. He was sauntering the exact way his demonic eagle flew by. Once he was sure he was close to his eagle, he inclined against the dusty wall of one of the dark promenades, hoping none of this goes to waste and he gets to see what he wishes for.

He remained calm even though he could hear the yelling of the men coming from the nearby restaurant. The pet must have attacked the men sitting outside the restaurant having liquor and getting tipsy

He closed his eyes, his head hanging low and his arms wrapped around his broad chest. He took a deep breath but his breath got stuck midway. He snapped his eyes open and looked up. His pupils dilated as his shadow got covered with her moving one for a slight second. That woman was rushing towards the scene while running on top of the roofs. Her footsteps were extremely fast as she was still wearing a bamboo hat and a mask.

With no second thought, he rushed behind her. His gaze fixated on her back as she ran on the roof ever so smoothly. Even though she could barely see, she was still amazing.

Once they reached the scene he immediately hid behind the wooden wall of a specific house. The woman landed on the scene and started yelling, telling everyone to run away. His demonic pet didn't run behind anyone nor did it attack her.

Its actions were all depending on its master.

Evan narrowed his eyes since he was still far and couldn't hear her voice. All of a sudden his demonic pet attacked her and she dodged it. She had no sword with her nor was she using any magic. Looks like he needs to go harder. With that said, the pet started attacking her. At first she swerved but when she couldn't do it, she started attacking back. Successfully having a grip on its wing, before swinging it up like a fan and harshly throwing it away.

But it was a demonic pet, it struck her again this time more furiously.

Evandros slowly walked out of his hiding spot once he noticed her poor gaze could no longer keep up with the pet but her senses could so she attacked with all her might. He can see she was getting weary.

Evan paused, his pupils shrinking and throat growing dry in an instant when he saw a familiar move coming out of her. That movement... He sprinted towards her as if he was about to attack her and as if she sensed his presence, she abruptly turned around and raised her leg ready to knock it on his face but he raised his arm, making her foot hit against his sturdy arm.

He didn't even budge from one of the best hits.

She stilled for a few seconds, her green hues gaping at the person before her, trying to comprehend who it was. It was night and she was almost wholly blind.

The breeze caressed both of them, making their robes flutter in the air along with his long dark black locks. She abruptly moved back. The demonic pet came towards Evandros and snacked under his sleeve, settling down on his skin.

The woman moved back, turning her face left and right before looking at him again.

Where is her magic? Any spell technique? Just martial arts?

Just as he was thinking this, a sizzling sound fell on his ears, without any second thought he abruptly stepped back, warm liquid trickling down his cheek as it was sliced by a sharp metal.

He touched his cheek and looked at the woman rushing towards him, her palm aiming for his chest but what came next was his palm against hers. Huge external energy oozed out of their palms but hers was exceptionally weak.

Nah, Megara was never this vulnerable. Her external energy was something to brag about.

The trees around were toiling to keep their leaves rooted to them as the leaves tried their best to stay rooted to the tree.

Palm against the palm.

She just manipulated a metal.

This can't be a coincidence anymore.

She was coerced back by his tremendous power, she stumbled back and almost fell back on her butt. Her chest heaving up and down as she bent down and grabbed her knees trying to catch her breath. But he gave her no second to breathe, as he was now standing in front of her.

Her green hues enlarged when she realized he was standing right before her.

She stood up straight and abruptly moved away from him. Standing up straight once again a slight frown made its way on her features. She felt strange. Her hand shifted towards her face and she realized she was not wearing her disguise.

That person took off her disguise so swiftly she didn't even realize it.

Evandros stood still in his place, her fabric still in his hand as he gazed at the face before him. The moon was specifically shining on that face so that he could see it.

He can see it all.

His hands quivered as he constricted his grip on the fabric he was clasping.

"S...Scarlet."
