Kapitel 5: Chapter 5 - Test Subject

I grab Darkseid by his head and toss him into the air. Using the building in front of me, I run up the side of it and catch up with him before jumping towards him, leaving a sizable hole in the outside wall.

Once beside him, I bring my foot up and smash it down into his face, axe kicking him back down. The impact lets off a loud boom and he smashes into the ground almost instantaneously.

"Thanks to the twenty extra fingers, my power has been enhanced... Maybe by an extra fourth?" I muttered as I used my Cursed Energy to slow my descent and essentially start floating in the air.

I look down at the handless Darkseid, seeing that he seemed to actually be struggling, but only just slightly.

"Hmph... Possibly even more..."

I reverse the flow of my Cursed Energy and accelerate myself downwards. Holding out my hand, I come crashing down onto the New God, pushing him further into the ground and accidentally breaking into the Gotham sewer.

"Ugh..." I sneered in disgust at the smell before immediately jumping back out of the hole.

As I stand in front of said hole, I hear footsteps coming from behind me, most likely the ones from earlier.

"Alex!" Someone's voice yells out, causing me to let out a sigh.

I turn and see a cacophony of people standing there, a few of them are recognizable, some are just barely, and others just don't come to mind at all.

Despite the unfamiliarity, I can't help but wonder why there was so many of them.

Did the Justice League always have this many people?

"Alex, what's going on?!" Some blonde girl asks, her eyes holding what seemed to be a considerable amount of worry. "Why do you--"

My eyebrows furrow at her, which causes her to stop and flinch, which also causes some boy who looks to be taking way to many steroids to walk in front of her protectively.

My eyes shift to the signature Superman 'S' on his shirt, but he looked way too young to be reasonably be the Man of Steel. That, and he wasn't wearing any tights.

Why do I feel an immense amount of envy when I stare at him...?

I feel quite a heavy stare barring down on me and I turn to see that Batman was looking at me as if he was analyzing me. I return eye contact, the both of us holding it for a moment before I hear the sound of rocks crumbling behind me.

Darkseid suddenly springs up from the hole, his hands and eyes completely restored.

"YOU WO--"

"Quiet."

I send a Dismantle towards his face, slicing his newly healed eyes in two before hitting him with a roundhouse kick to the side of his head, sending him off towards the harbor. Seeing that he looked to be completely healed, I run off towards him at a blinding speed, not wanting this chance to slip away.

Upon reaching the end of one of the docks, I jump up and reach Darkseid, hitting him with another punch which speeds up his flailing body. He skips across the bay's surface like a flat stone before hitting the edge of the harbor of the city that was on the other side.

Having closed the distance by running across the water, I follow up with a heavy drop kick which rips him in two, sending the top half of his body flying off into the city.

"Hm... Too much power on that one..." I muttered as I looked down at the severed lower half of Darkseid's body before Cleaving it into nothing and rushing off towards wherever the top half had landed.

[Metropolis]

As the battle raged on, Nightwing and Beast Boy post guard near an orange portal, preventing any and all Apokolips forces from going in and coming out.

"They just keep coming!" Beast Boy yelled out as he transformed from a Gorilla into a massive T-Rex, biting down on a pair of Parademons that had tried to come out of the portal.

"Hold on for as long as you can!" Nightwing yelled as he threw three Wing-Dings into the face of another. "We got to buy enough time for--"

A large blue laser beam suddenly blasted a hole straight through a Parademon ready to attack Nightwing from behind. From the sky, Blue Beetle could be seen hovering above, smoke coming out from his blaster arm.

"Then they better hurry up!" He yelled out before blasting off to deal with the other Parademons in the sky.

"Yes, that would be very preferable!" Starfire announced as she flew overhead, throwing orbs of green energy down from above.

Nightwing, Starfire, and Beast Boy, three out of the four members of the Teen Titans, were tasked to help Superman with the situation in Metropolis, along with the added help of Blue Beetle.

This sudden invasion had started hours ago. The Justice League, The Teen Titans, and Young Justice were all called into battle, and the heroes, while still giving it all they could, were running out of steam.

All of a sudden, they heard a sudden crash coming from nearby, and they all turned towards the sound.

"What was that?!" Beast Boy exclaimed as he turned back into his "normal" human form.

"Doesn't matter!" Nightwing shouted, shaking his head. "We need to hold the line until--"

The portal behind them suddenly started to spark, and the two heroes both turned back towards it, ready for even more Parademons to come through.

"Looks like we're a little late." A deep, almost synthesized voice called out.

Coming out from the portal, the familiar visages of Cyborg and Superman were seen, giving the heroes guarding the portal a sense of relief.

Seeing the dead Parademons on the floor and the ones that had yet to be taken care of, Superman narrowed his eyes and they began to glow a bright, burning red.

Releasing his heat vision, he tore through the remaining Parademons on the street before turning the optical beams towards the ones in the sky.

[Alcatraz]

"I expected more of challenge... I have to say, I'm disappointed." I said as I walked towards the armless, eyeless, head and torso that was Darkseid.

"I... Will..."

"Yes, yes, crush me like a nut." I cut him off, crouching down near the top of his head. "You've said that."

This is... disappointing...

I only wanted to gauge how far I've come. I expected to get a few good hits, but this was just far too easy even by my standards.

I place my hand atop Darkseid's head, about to Cleave it into until there was nothing left, but I paused. Hearing something approach, my head snaps towards the wall to my left before something had crashed through. To my surprise, it was the genuine article this time, the real Man of Steel.

"Superman..." I muttered.

The hero's eyes seemed to be processing just what was going on in front of him, but only for a moment before he suddenly blitzed in front of me with his fist raised.

His fist stops right in front of my face and I raised a curious eyebrow, wondering why he stopped.

"Alex?" He asks, his eyes wide open as he seemed to realize who I was at the very last moment. "What happened to y--"

Before he could even finish his sentence, I suddenly saw a flash of red and a huge amount of force hit my chest. The result of which blasting me out of the building I was in and sending me crashing into another.

---

"No!" The big blue Boy Scout yelled out when the boy was blasted outside due to Darkseid's Omega Beam. Before he could turn to face the New God, his head was suddenly in the grip of his large hands.

Superman immediately used his heat vision to try and get Darkseid to release his hold, but that proved ineffective.

Picking him up off the ground, Darkseid slammed the Man of Steel into ground, pummeling him deeper and deeper into the Earth before kicking him out through the same hole Alcatraz had went out of.

Superman hit the ground, his body skidding across the street before coming to a stop in front of a destroyed building.

"Superman!" Nightwing yelled out as he ran towards him, the rest of Teen Titans and Blue Beetle following closely behind.

Nightwing and Starfire helped pick him up off the ground, their eyes widening when they saw Darkseid coming out onto the street.

"Why is he here?!" Cyborg exclaimed in both confusion and fear. "The League was supposed to keep him busy!"

"I don't know..." Superman groaned as he grounded himself, causing Nightwing and Starfire to let him go.

"Well, what are we supposed to do now?!" Beast Boy asked, hoping that someone had a plan.

"Now you die!" Darkseid yelled out in a rage.

Before anyone could make a move, the rubble of the destroyed building behind them started to shift, causing all of their eyes to shift in its direction.

From beneath the rubble, they saw "Alex" pushing himself out, his head moving side to side as a loud cracking sound echoed in their ears.

His new appearance, the slicked back hair, the tattoos, and the extra set of eyes, had caused all of them a bit of a shock.

"You still live?!" Darkseid yelled, completely taken aback by this annoying pest that refused to die.

"Evidently..." Alcatraz said as he walked towards the New God, stretching out his shoulders and arms.

As he walked towards the enemy, Superman quickly reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Wait, Alex, we need to--"

The second that his hand touched his shoulder, Superman felt himself be shoved back a ways, his feet having to grind into the street to stop himself from going further.

"Don't touch me." Alcatraz looked back at him with a blank gaze before turning back towards Darkseid and continuing on his path.

He stopped almost right in front of him, having to crane his head to look at the towering Titan in the eyes.

"I underestimated you, mortal." Darkseid said as he looked down at Alcatraz with a piercing glare. "That won't happen again."

Darkseid's eyes started to glow once more, charging his Omega Beams with the intent on wiping the human out in one blast. Alcatraz didn't react to this threat, only smirking a bit before connecting his hands together and making a sign.

"Ryōiki Tenkai..."
