Eve's expression contorted with concern upon hearing Ophelia's revelation.

"She was bitten by a snake?" Eve frowned. It seemed that Penelope had fallen victim to a snake bite, the culprit eluding their search. The two conspicuous fang marks on Penelope's arm were the only evidence pointing to a snake's involvement.

In an instant, Eve's mind connected the dots, recognizing the distinct modus operandi of the blood mamba. Its swift disappearance after attacking its prey left no doubt in her mind. She realized that she and Penelope were not the only ones in the crosshairs—the blood mamba had targeted both of them.

"I see," Eve replied.
