Chapter 21: Beelzebub's Masterpiece (1)

Something dangerous sprouted from within the stomachs of the mercenaries.

The moment it stretched its branches, the men dropped onto their knees, holding their abdomen as though they wanted to squeeze the foreign object within them into oblivion.

The strongest mercenary, Yale, lifted his trembling eyes at Beelzebub and screamed, sounding wronged. "You never wanted to let us live! What is this?! What have you fed us?!"

In the vista of the burning demon, Yale noticed his buddies dropping flat onto the ground, their bodies convulsing. The acute pain gnawing on their organs from the inside devoured their ability to move and interact with the world, only permitting them to scream their agony, which they unconsciously did.

Amidst the green flames expanding from the demon cauldron, which was no one other than Beelzebub himself, David locked his dark abyss eyes lit up with emerald sparks on the strongest man, spitting derisive fire at him. "And now you're shifting all blame on me... do you want me to forget how you had decided to enslave me seconds ago? How you started talking about women while believing that I am no longer a threat to you? Instead of fabricating lies and excuses, how about we make things clear?"

And while he said that, Beelzebub's flames had finally finished their race, no longer having any more room to dance. Now, their wrath gobbled all the blue crystals stored in this precious deposit, slowly melting them.

Screams of anguish heightened as flames stretched toward the souls of mercenaries, turning their lives into nothing more than resources that Lord Of Souls used the best.

Their souls fueled the emerald flames that were now liquefying blue crystals into a lethal poison.

In the meantime, Beelzebub approached Yale and squatted in front of him, peering into the man's shivering eyes. His face was satisfying to look at, making Beelzebub's next words more delightful as well.

"Your lives were never in danger, at least from my side. The pills that you had taken had a backup plan in case you all decided to use me instead… was I wrong to use that? Looking at you, I don't think so. I haven't revealed all my cards as well, even making it seem as though I can only use one magic and a flawed one, at that. Your friends fell for it so well… I should commend you for leading them this far." Beelzebub extended his flaming hand and grasped Yale's hair, only to have his streaks burn into nothingness, making his chin hit the ground. "Don't you have any explaining to do, Yale? You never wanted to betray or use me… your reasoning had been clouded by unreachable dreams, right?"

Understanding that his life was in the demon's hands and that he didn't have much time left, Yale turned a deaf ear to Beelzebub's words and howled his hatred toward him. "Damn you! Damn you, human in disguise! Demon! What can you know about our hurdles? A man lives and dies by risking his life! I'll die with a smile, knowing that I didn't turn back on this lucky chance of obtaining a useful slave like you!"

David chortled and stood up, his flaming body towering above the fallen man. "You're free to curve your lips into a smile in your last moments… the question is whether you'll be able to do that."

Purposely weakening his flames so that they would nibble on Yale's soul instead, David left the man alone, confident that he would fail his death wish. As louder screams bounced off the walls, the demon knew he was on point.

Beelzebub then summoned his enslaved demon.

The black dog's soul came straight from the demon's soul. Following his master's order, Anador picked up Bruno and took him the farthest away from the entrance, which had been blocked by the boulder. He then took a watch over the entrance.

Beelzebub knew that this rock would soon become little pieces.

Before that happened, he needed to finish his alchemy that had started the moment he turned himself into a cauldron.

The whole cavern was already flooded by sparkling sapphire liquid, which, licked by weak humans and monsters, would kill them on the spot. It was a lethal poison that was undisturbed by the events occurring on the scene, flowing down the mounds of blue crystals and sipping into their cracks.

Beelzebub used the souls of mercenaries, which were potent sources of spiritual energy, to take control over all blue liquid around him. However, that was not enough.

There were too many resources gathered in one place! Some of the liquefied crystals streamed dangerously close to the sleeping Bruno, who had been unaware of everything. Even David had to be careful to not clash with this much poison.

But with all the dangers closing up on him and his friend, Beelzebub remained calm and composed.

"Skills are cheap means for players to unleash techniques through the system without learning them from scratch. People didn't bother to learn origins and basics, but I was different… to become the best, I learned like NPCs, leveraged the system when needed, and unveiled the mysteries and alchemy craft on my own. I followed the steps of the previous Beelzebub by myself! That's precisely why, while the library of legendary skills might be locked behind the level gap, I can open it with my wealth of experience and knowledge! The level gap is, in the end, only a system limit, for I'm in the real world… and I am Beelzebub!"

The world seemingly froze in admiration of David's declaration. The blue crystals and their liquefied rivers also became suspended, waiting to be judged and manufactured.

Remembering the good old times, which for Beelzebub didn't seem like thousand years ago, David spread his arms and gently jerked his fingers, ushering bits of his soul to his flames.

From within the ocean of emerald fire, the elemental silhouettes rose to their feet. They resembled Beelzebub and instantly got to work by stretching their hands to the flames and blue liquid.

And now, no longer looking like the demon from the depths of hell but a poised, serene, and confident spirit of flames, Beelzebub conducted his fire spirits to perform his extraordinary alchemy, pouring his excitement, abundance of experience and knowledge, and hunger for miracles into the treasure vault which was his cauldron.

Thus, Beelzebub concocted his first masterpiece on his new adventure in the real fantasy world.

At that moment, his enslaved demon barked, notifying him of incoming danger.

The boulder blocking the entrance to the vault shattered, inviting The Ant Queen's army inside, with her terrifying form waiting for the results perched at the back of it!

Beelzebub curved his lips into a faint smile. "Thank you for waiting for me to finish this piece. Very kind of you, The Ant Queen."

David's luck with women was really incredible!
