MATE!

At first, I panicked at the words. Of course, there were stories about wolves who’d lost their mates but still found second chances. They weren’t the same as fated mates but mates all the same. They were the other part of our soul, the part we chose to make us whole.

But Grace wasn’t ready for that yet.

Hell, for all I knew she saw me as nothing more than a friend, a companion. Someone to help her out with her pack, someone to be her Champion. Her right-hand man and the to-go-to guy whenever there was something she didn’t know about.

But then she moved, and her perky ass rubbed against my groin. It had taken exactly one heartbeat for me to be semi-erect to having a hard-on from hell! By the time she moved again, there was precum wetting my shorts and my balls were crawling halfway up my throat.

I fled the bed after that and barely made it to my own room before I came with a pained grunt. My wolf was furious about leaving her, but I didn’t have a choice.
