It was the day of the hunt, John got dressed in his dungeon attire and drove his jeep to the entrance of the dungeon.
Arriving he saw Timothy Alvarez, a man covered in scars and the only regular hunter who's entering the dungeon with John. He was sitting at the entrance next to the Dungeon worker, a spear in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Seeing John exiting his Jeep, Timothy walked over and shook John's hand.
Just from that little interaction, John immediately started to respect Timothy as everything from the gait of his walk and the blisters on his hands, told John this man trained diligently with his spearmanship.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Timothy, a combat hunter." Saying this he shook his spear slightly to get the point across.
"Nice to meet you, I'm John, a healer. I hope we have a good dungeon run." John said as he sat next to Timothy on the floor
Chatting with Timothy for a bit, the rest of the party members arrived in a black Truck. Stepping out of the vehicle, John closely observed the trio and smiled slightly.
Just looking at them he knew that today, his mana capacity was going to grow!
-----------
"Please take out your Light Drones," the blonde haired and seamingly happy go lucky party leader, Larry, ordered.
All of the party members activated their Light Drones, brightening the long cobblestone corridor.
"It doesn't look as if there are any monsters here. Let's go gang." the party leader said in a cheerful manner, the other two memberes remaining quite and distant.
John remained silent and simply nodded along. It would be terrible if they found out John was actually strong and decided not to attack him.
The party stood in formation, with the spear and shield wielding Timothy in front. Two of the PKers stood behind him, then Johnn, and then another PKer behind him.
Timothy aimed his spear and shield towards the front and walked as the Light Drones moved forward and brightened the path forward.
"It's a clearing," Timothy said as he began to make out what he saw.
In front of them was a large cavernous clearing with a high ceiling that a four story house could fit, in the back of the boss room they saw dozens of stone statues.
"They're Gargoyles." The party leader Larry said with a smile.
"Haha, It'll be easy." Timothy gave a chuckle to the realization.
Gargoyles, monsters which appeared in C-rank dungeons or higher, appeared as stone statues but when they discovered invaders, became living organisms.
Unlike living armours who had extremely tough durability, Gargoyle could be damaged by the average hunter and wer considered a slightly below average mob.
"There're quite a few of them but we have a Healer. We should be fine with the regular mobs but weaker mobs tend to mean more powerful Bosses, let's just be careful!" The party leader, Larry, said with a bright smile
Everyone nodded. After the party leader had finished checking his weapon, he looked at one of his trio of friends.
"Sam, you protect John. Me, Timothy, and Ron will take itn the mobs" the party leader said.
"Leave it to me," Sam said with a thumbs up and a bright smile, not a hint of evil in their eye.
The party entered the clearing and the Gargoyles immediately awoke and the battle began. Though the Gargoyles were many, the B-rank Hunters easily repelled the.
With Timothy leading the charge, he ran shield first into a gargoyle as his shield started to shimmer slightly. The glowing shield bashed into the gargoyle, completely smashing it to pieces as his spear launched forth and pierced another, doing minimal damage compared to the shield.
Larry and Ron followed close behind him and attacked with their swords, but instead of using the edge, they instead attacked with the flat of the blade.
It was a well known fact that Gargoyles were incredibly weak to blunt damage but fairly resistant to blades. Within a few minutes, the gargoyles were crushed to bits of stone as they stepped forth into the new pathway made out of the usual rough cobblestone looking material.
They walked through the pathway for a few minutes before they ran into another large clearing, this time the party faced a mix of dozens of Gargoyles and Trolls.
As they were doing battle, Timothy blocked the claw of a gargoyle only for a troll to pick up a broken off piece of aGargoyles and throw it at him, knocking him back.
"Arhhggh!" Barely bringing his shield up, Timothy was able to hold on under the onslaught of attacks and thought he was going to die until.
"Heal!" Running up behind him, John placed his hand onto the defending Timothy as he felt his injury close and his strength return to him. Thankfully the wound wasnt too deep and healed completely after 7 seconds, however, the fight didn't end with only one injury.
There was a troll Scholar variant within the monsters, causing John to have to use his Heal constantly in order to keep the group alive.
"Let's rest here for a bit," the party leader decided, his tonw less jovial.
They had cleared a little over half of the rooms even though five hours had passed, so the party leader had them rest.
'These guys must be planning on killing me and Timothy during or after the boss fight, as they are treating this like its a normal Dungeon Run'. Despite being all smiles and positivity, John knew and felt that this Trio was up to no good.
Although Hunters transcended humanity, they still felt fatigue swinging around heavy weapons that can weigh close to a hundred pounds. They took a small break and ate the food that they had brought, John took out a can of Dr. Pepper and beef jerky from a nap sack he brought.
"John your healing power is extremely quick. Isn't the mana consumption for it extremely high?" Timothy asked in Earnest
"That's what I'm saying. Amongst the B-rank Healers, his healing power seems to be in the upper ranks!…" The party leader larry said excited, his tone now sounding forced.
The Hunters appeased their hunger and then grouped back into formations after a little bit of "team bonding".
"Let's go," said Larry as the team pressed on through the dungeon.
---------
The party had been in the dungeon for over eight hours, at some point they finally arrived in front of the Boss Room.
'These guys acts are starting to fall apart now that we are close to the end. They are constantly using secret handsigns, meanwhile their killing intent is constantly fluctuating from the monsters to me and Timothy, back to the monsters.'
While Timothy opened the door, the five light drones rushed into the boss room and illuminated the inside.
'Stay focus John, this is when they're going to attack!' John didn't know if it was going to be during or after, but he had to wait until they attacked first so that his camera could record the act.
This camera wasn't a normal one you could buy at a store, this one was special crafted by the bureau to work within dungeons. It's s material were made entirely of melted down items found within dungeons, with its camera lens and power source being monster crystals.
The Light Drones brightened up the room and they were able to see the humongous humanoid Boss sitting in an old stone chair. "It's a Giant!" the leader Larry cried out.
Giants mostly appeared in A-rank dungeons, most of the times as mob, but they could also appear as a Boss in a B-rank dungeon as a boss. They couldn't afford to get hit by the heavy club in its right hand, lest they get splattered into paste.
"To think we'd be facing a Giant in a B ranked…" one of the quite PKers, Sam, said as everyone tried to suppressed their anxiety.
"It would be nice if we had a Mage Hunter," Timothy lamented, since the Ogre was huge, slow but powerful magic would be fatal for it.
"If you get hit, you'll die immediately. Timothy lose the shield it useless and John back up, you probably won't even have the time to use heal if anybody gets directly hit" John looked at the leader in shock, as this was actually solid advice for the boss fight.
'They have no confidence in fighting the boss with just the three of them, even I don't feel overly confident in Soloing a Giant.'
The party finished their short discussion and started in their plan.
Once they started, the Giant opened its three eyes to see that all of the party members, excluding John, ran around it and surrounded it on all side.
"Attack!"
The four combat hunters simultaneously attacked giant, charging forth activating any ability they had.
The Giant aimed at Sam and swung it metal club with all of its strength, he tried to jump back and dodge but the club still connected and had to use his sword as a last ditch effort to defend himself with.
The hunter was sent flying backwards as his body laid still.
Running over John activated his healing magic, setting it on the lowest mana output and looked at the crumpled, yet still breathing body of the PKer.
John wondered if he should just end him before he could be give a chance to attack, but begrudgingly decided against it and follow his second rule on rules on killing unarmed/surrendered opponents.
Cranking his healing magic in the max setting, John began in earnest to start healing up the PKer that he knew would eventually try and take his life.
"Nice job John!" the party leader praised John, recognizing the situation.
He didn't speak long since the battle was still going on, but if John's Heal had been just a tad bit slower then the injured Hunter would have died.
"I'll take care of him." John said bitterly.
As the intense battle raged on, Larry caught the Giant on it's Achilles and hacked it in two. With the Giant on one knee, Timothy jumped up and stabbed his now glowinfg spear directly into the eye of the Giant.
The Giant started spasming as it collapsed to the floor as all of their Measuring devices range out.
-Verifying assault, measurement complete. B-rank dungeon, clear.
As John continued to heal the PKer, he witness the party leader, larry, pick up a necklace that was tied to the Giants loincloth.
Appraising the dropped item, John didn't miss his eyes fill with greed.
'It should start soon.' John immediately stopped healing the PKer as he could now stand up.
John watched careful as the uninjured Larry suddenly began walking with a limp and began moving towards him.
"Hey John, I feel multiple muscle have snapped in my legs, can you give me a quick heal?" Despite saying this, John felt a barely contained killing intent on the party leaders smiling face.
'These guys deserved Oscars, if even I could barely sense their killing intent then the average hunter would completely miss it.'
"I just used up all of my mana, can you wait about thirty minutes so that I can regenerate the mana?" John wasn't actually lying about that, he really did want to regenerate mana.
After using heal repeated through the dungeon, John had a little over 1/2 his mana capacity. Not only, that but the entire group had just went through a major battle and used up a lot of mana, leaving very little for John to absorb.
John saw Larrys face stop and start thinking about something, before he spoke again. "Let's have a fourty five minutes break so that you can heal Ron back to full heal and then you can heal me up."
'He plans on having me heal up the PKer Sam to full health before he kills me, this Is perfect!'
Sitting on the dungeon floor with his legs crossed, John started to regenerate his mana for fourty five minutes as he witnessed the others also sitting criss cross applesauce.
This 'meditation' technique barely sped up the mana regeneration by a tiny fraction, but it's better than nothing and being in a dungeon meant they had no other way to entertain themselves so they all meditated.
As the fourty five minute mark had passed, John's mana was a 90% and decided now was the time to act. Taking out the small camera, John turned it on before casually standing up and walking infront of the meditating Timothy.
"Larry, you like hunting people, don't you?" John said in a relaxed manner of speaking, as if he was asking his preference of food.
"W-What are you talking about John?" With his face forced in a smile, Larry's killing intent increased tot the point that Timothy began to feel it.
"No point in lying now, I know that you, Sam and Ron are a Trio of PKers. I've been recording you secret hand signs and I'm going to give the video to the Bureau." Saying this John pulled the camera out of his pocket and waved it in the air.
"Say goodbye to the rest of your lifes jackass" John figured this was a good enough bait for the PKers, and he was right as the killing intent in the room reached its peak.
Clipping the camera to his shirt, John pulled out Roel as he knew readied himself for the fight.
"Timothy, as a representative of the Dungeon Bureau, if you get in my way you'll be labeled a PKer as well. So please just sit there and allow me to handle this!""
