Shawn POV
As almost everyone was focusing on trying to cast a spell, the principal then gave another lecture and signaled to us that we shouldn't stop what we're doing.
"The 6 elemental powers are divided into 2 categories, there is the basic or primary elements and there are the secondary elements." he explained "The former contains fire, water, wind, and earth, while the latter has the light and dark elements.
"The difference is that the basic elements can mix with each and the secondary elements while the secondary elements cannot be mixed with each other." he added "Like dark and water can become acid, water and wind can become ice, but light and dark can never mix with each other, it doesn't stop us from trying though.
"But do not misunderstand that one element is superior to the other, they are all equal against the angels, even though the angels specialize in the light element, they are equally affected by both the light and dark elements.
"The angels, however, wear armor that is resistant against the light element, so you would want to aim for their exposed parts if you only possess the light elements."
He then stopped there for now even though I can tell that he has a lot more to tell. I've cast about 7 spells so far, and even though I'm not dead last, I am a bit discouraged knowing that my brother already finished his assignment.
We're pretty much the same age, twins at this point, but as wizards, he is superior to me. Well, compared to my older brother, at this point in life, I am better.
"It seems that even for my class, you're following your own pace." the principal said as he approached Perseus "You don't even need to touch the talisman to inject mana into it. Rare for a first year."
"This is just the beginners' talisman, right? So I don't think I'm doing that well." Perseus replied
"Oh?" the principal gave an amusing look "You know the different types of talismans? You're lucky that our institute has good lawyers, otherwise, you'll be spending about 6 months in juvenile. Practicing magic without supervision is a very dangerous act, many accidents in the past proved that."
"There's a reason for me practicing it in secret." he replied
"Does this mean you can use the regular talisman already?" the principal asked and then took out this other talisman from his pocket.
It looked pretty much identical, but I can see that it's much thinner than a regular talisman, it can barely stay straight and it's probably harder to cast spells with as well.
"Here, try it." he placed it in front of my brother "These are what the professionals use, of course, there are a few more types of talismans, but they are ones for those who are on my level."
Perseus can definitely already activate that talisman, he was taught to do so by a certain someone.
The principal then gave the rest of us the same chance as well, and of course, we enthusiastic young wizards and witches gave it a try, but the moment we did...well, I can't speak for everyone, but my mana just got sucked so fast that I can't even stop it, the talisman then was on the verge of exploding.
Luckily, the principal took one of the talismans he handed out and cast one out, several circular wind barriers then enclosed the explosions and saved our lives.
"This talisman is made from the leaves of the Hex tree," Mr. Arthur explained and then pointed at Perseus who has successfully lit the paper up.
He didn't cast any spell though. But the letters lit up and he just looked around with this sheepish look, he doesn't really have to hide what he can do.
He's learned it during his secret walks after that day, the day after...our mom died, it was when he started wearing that blindfold as well, rarely taking off his blindfold, even to his own family.
"You have to master the basic talismans before you can even attempt this without supervision." Mr. Arthur said "You have to learn how to control your own mana like it's your own limbs, just now, most of you can't even stop your mana from being absorbed, but please focus on mastering only the basic talisman for now, it's what you need for the first term, and what you need to accomplish for today's assignment."

3rd Person POV
The class was impressed, but Oleander hated that feeling, his family has hired him expensive tutors ever since they went out of their way to get him a learner's permit. For once in his life, he felt inferior.
When he questioned Perseus' abilities, not only his principal defended him, a principal from Tiger's Academy did too, at this rate, Perseus...Oleander can't stop Perseus, but he can slow him down. Perseus may be able to activate the talisman, but he probably can't fight with it, he's a student, not a full-fledged wizard yet.
<Illegal magic practice, no matter how good you are at...worse case, I can get a lawsuit started and you'll be away from magic practice for a long while, I need to be number 1.> Oleander thought <I am number 1 and I will continue to be number 1, for now, have fun, but in the actual wizarding world, my family reign supreme.>

Perseus POV
"Bro, just give me a portion of your talent." Shawn said as he was done with his task "That took over 3 hours."
"Hold that thought." I said as I see a pop-up notification on my tablet
It seems that one of the posts we applied for accepted my application, I showed Shawn the email and he got his out to see he was accepted as well.
"Level 3...it's very hard for a first-year deployment...we're also going to need to apply for the translating device, we don't speak the language."
"Aomori, Japan, huh..." he sighs "But that's not our goal."
"Yeah, work there until we can join the Hokkaido Liberation Force."
