Kapitel 55: Chapter 55 She Wouldn't Wake Up

Madelyn was sprawled out on the gurney, eyes sealed shut, face ghostly white. Her hair hid the severity of her injuries, making it impossible to see the damage just by looking.

The moment he saw her, Gregg dropped everything and bolted over, grabbing her hand and shouting, "Maddie, Maddie!"

"Step aside, please," the nurse said, pushing the gurney towards the emergency room.

Gregg trailed behind them. The CT scan results would take ten minutes, so Louis hung back to receive them, as he'd been involved in the accident after all.

Henry shot a reproachful look at Madelyn. "See how nice Maddie is to you? She put her life on the line for you! If she hadn't taken the hit, you'd be the one on that gurney."

Louis responded coolly, "I didn't ask her to do that."

Henry's anger bubbled under the surface. "What's up with you lately? You and Maddie used to be tight. What's changed?"
