Kapitel 7: Chapter 5: Mace and Olenas reaction
Not to mention we have we have to take into account what the other lords wil do like Tywin Lanister and Doran Martel and especially Lady Olena Tyrell the queen of thorns she will definitely wil try to make friends with this unknown king, our best course of action is to form a diplomatic relation and a trade allience with this Unknown kingdom called Sparta." He explained. "Heh counting coppers John but fine we wil do it your way." i said.
"Anything else to report Spider?" I asked. "No your grace." replied Varys "Alright John i wil leave you to it, i am going hunting, let's go Selmy." I said and walked to the stables to get ready.
One other reaction was very interesting to hear about it was the interactions between Olena Tyrell and her glory stealing, whale of a son Mace Tyrell, and i have ti say Mace Tyrell lives up to his reputationas an Oaf and a delusional fool, While Olena was truly a queen of thorns in every sence of the words. A genious and scary woman.
Flashback
In High Garden you could find Mace Tyrell waiting for his mother Olena Tyrell pacing back and forth in the throne room of High Garden after receiving the reports about the events between the unknown king of sparta and the lord of the iron islands Balon Greyjoy. Mace was once a powerfull and handsome looking man like his father Luthor Tyrell but he has let himself fall into his vices becoming a whale of a man as wide as he was tall .He has curly brown hair and cuts his greying beard in a triangular way. He is often red-faced due to overly consuming wine. all this caused Cersei Lannister to once say that Mace was of the same age as her father, Lord Tywin Lannister, although Mace is closer in age to her than to Tywin. Mace has a very social and jovial personality. He thinks himself a great warrior, hah as if, and although his reputation rests solely on the victory over Robert I Baratheon in the Battle of Ashford during Robert's Rebellion, but that was complete bullshit as it had been largely won by Mace's bannerman, Lord Randyll Tarly, a true tactician and warrior before Mace had even arrived and set foot at the battlefield, and the command Mace held during the siege of Storm's End later that war, which ended when Mace dipped his banners to Lord Eddard Stark.[12] Mace is imbecil and an idiont but a ambitious idiot, wishing to see a grandchild of his on the Iron Throne. Despite that, his mother, Lady Olenna Tyrell, has him completely under her thumb, and so influence his decisions. Mace is considered an oaf by his mother and by Cersei Lannister and a fool and glory hound by Prince Oberyn Martell and Cersei. His favorite son is Loras, the youngest of his two children and his closest friend is Lord Paxter Redwyne, his brother-in-law. Mace has a great dislike for Dornishmen, especially Prince Oberyn, who accidentally crippled Mace's heir, Willas Tyrell in a tourney. Mace usually dresses in green velvet trimmed with sable, as well as a gold mantle over green.
Soon the side door swung open and Lady Olena Tyrell the true ruler of Highgarden walked in with her two ladies in waiting plus her twin guardsmen named Erryk and Arryk, and looked at her son the fat oaf pacing back and forth like a child worried about being punished and could not help shaking her head in disappointment
Lady Olenna is a woman of a very small stature almost the size of a child. Altough she is a white-haired lady who appears wrinkled and wizened in her age. She has soft, spotted hands, with gaunt fraile and thin fingers. It is said Olenna Tyrel always smells of rosewater, but she also has has an old woman's sour breath that smells of rot and death a toothless smile and she always walks with a cane, and claiming to be near deaf, But i know that is clearly her feigning to be more frail than she actually is, if the hidden rapier in her cane is anything to go by after all Olenna is older than Lord Hoster Tully and one being that old is wise enough to always have a hidden thorn on his or her self. (ahh the word play!) Olenna rarely shies from stating her opinion, and is a cunning old woman with a wicked wit and a sharp tongue so much so that i would think her a match for Zhuge Liang in wit, like a old female version of Sima Yi. This has earned her the moniker "Queen of Thorns", though she does not care for the name after all it's just a name. According to her granddaughter Margaery Tyrell, she has a lot of intelligence and wit but is not the most patient of women. Although Olenna regularly mocks members of her own family, she is as she seems a complete and staunch supporter of Tyrell family interests. Ser Arys Oakheart of the Kingsguard thinks of the Queen of Thorns as a very strong and scary woman despite her size.
Olena Tyrell POV:
As i shook my head in disappointment at my oaf of a son, he approached me in a huff and ro my incredible dismay this fool actually tripped from his own feet running in my direction but what made me even more stupified was this fool instead of standing up and coming to me he choose to continue up to me on all four crawling like a dog! a dog for the sevens sake, where was his dignity as the Lord of Highgarden, Lord Paramount of the Mander, Defender of the Marches, High Marshal of the Reach, Warden of the South, and head of House Tyrell. It infuriated me to no end and as soon as he was close i unleashed it on this oaf of a son of mine. "M...Mother, W..what, what do we do mo..Aaaarrhhh!!!"
"YOU, BLITHERING OAF!!! HOW DARE YOU CRAWL ON THE GROUND LIKE A DOG!!! WHERE IS YOUR PRIDE AS THE HEAD OF HOUSE TYRELL? WHERE IS YOU PRIDE AS LORD PARAMOUNT AND ALL YOUR OTHER USELESS TITLES? CURSE YOUR OAF OF A FATHER FOR LEAVING ME WITH AN OAF OF A SON LIKE YOU!!!" "M..Mother please stop hitting me!!!" he pleaded in pain. "STAND UP YOU DISGRACEFUL FOOL!!!" I yelled at this idiot as i catched my breath and sat down on the paramounts chair. As Mace stood up he approached me and started spouting such nonsence in immediatly irritated me again.
"Mother, we need to act fast, A new kingdom has been discovered and according to the nobles they started a war with Balon Greyjoy and destroyed their fleet!" he said excited, and i just knew where he was going with this even before he continued. "We must take the iniciative mother and gather our forces, if we are the first to act when king Robert calls for all the lords to attack this kingdom in retaliation, we are sure to be rewarded by Robert maybe we could even be rewarded and have Margaery replace Cercei Lanister as queen." He said exited and i could only shake my head in disapointment and smack him on the head with my cane again. SMACK!!!!! "AAAARRRHHHH!!!!"
"BE QUIET OAF!!!" I yelled again. "Yes Mother." he responded. "Honestly Mace use your head for once." i said in exasperation. "Let me ask you Mase, i bet i already know the answer, but i want to hear you answer me directly and i wil know if you lie to me, and you know what wil happen if you lie to me don't you?" i glared at him. "Y.. Ye..Yes Mother, i do." He responded spinelessly much to my dismay, curse the seven for this useless boy be dammed. "Tell me Mace did you read the reports from the capital and send out men to confirm thme like a lord paramount should or were you fixated in banter and rumors with the other useless nobles and made your assumptions off of said rumors?" I asked but i already knew the answer from his nervous look. "F..Fr..From the No.. AAARRRHHH!!!" he screamed as i smacked him with my cane again. "Dammit boy did it ever occur to you that those rumors were false?" i asked only to keep loosing my patience at his responce of my question. "Why would they be false?" he said, i sighed and started to explain.
"They are in fact false Mace, Not only did the Unknown kindom named Sparta not attack first they were first attacked by Lord Triston Farwynd a bannerman od Lord Balon Greyjoy who hated Balon and who according to the reports grew resentful of balon so when he discovered this unknown island kingdom he surpressed the news of it and lauched a campain to conquer it for himself so he could use its resources to become the new lord paramount of the Iron islands but he failed spectacularly and died in the process his entire force of almost two thousand was destroyed by a force of only 500 men and only one boy of sixteen namedays survided while this unknown king suffered no loss, not a single man was lost." i explained to the amazementy of Mace "Are you sure mother?" he asked only for me to give him a deadpan stare dat gave him the feeling of not asking stupid question that the answer to them was obvious. Then i continued to inform the oaf.
"After that the surviving boy was brought before Balon with a message that said these words; "YOU BOY, WIL BE MY MENSSENGER TO BALON, TELL HIM HE HAS LOST HIS RIGHT TO THE SEAS BY NOT CONTROLING HIS MEN AND THAT ANY SHIP FROM HIS HOUSE OR ANY OTHER UNDER HIS BANNERMEN IN THE SUNSET SEA WILL BE DESTROYED AND SENT TO THEIR PATHETIC DROWNED GOD THIS I PROMICE HIM, NOW AWAY WITH YOU!" this of course enraged Balon and he ordered his daughter Asha Greyjoy after the subordinate of this unknow king with fifty ships from the iron fleet, the fleet he was prohibited from rebuilding by Robert Baratheon, but the outcome was not what anybody expected as when Asha Greyjoy caught up with the fleet of this unknow kingdom to attack them in the storm of the past month they inturn themselves were ambushed by a second fleet six times their numbers from this unknown kingdom and utterly destroyed, only seven ships made it back to the Iron islands! The survivours said their fleets ships were unlike anything they had ever seen ships that were larger baster and better in combat than any other they had seen before." i said "Unbelievable!" Responded mace with a shocked expretion.
"When King Robert heard of this from the small council he was actually more extatic that Lord Balon Greyjoy suffered a loss that anything else he also issued a warning to Lord Balon Greyjoy about his rebuilding of the iron fleet, Grand Maester Mycell actually wanted the king to bring this unknow kingdom under the rule of the Iron Throne but Lord John Arynn as the hand of the king knew it was both foolish and too costly for the crown to go to war with a unkown kingdom so now he is planning a diplomatic trade visit to this kingdom called Sparta and here you are trying to start a war, how many times have i told you to leave the thinking to me, you oaf!" I reprimanded him. "What shall we do then, mother?" He asked. "Ofcourse I will go to Sparta to meet this Wolf King, maybe we can make some diplomatic ties with him." I stated. "Wolf KIng?" asked Mace. "Yes, thats what they call him, maybe he has connections to the Starks but who knows, that's va question for when i meet him." I said.
