"We may have a situation."
Sena's eyelid twitched from the rider's expression as if their mission would go south soon. It didn't even last more than ten days and now someone stated implicitly their plans became ineffective. Otherwise, the rider in front would never show such a look at her. Everyone was well aware of the scheme. Sena knew what they were about to face next was probably a big war without hearing the rider's explanation and despite numerous repetitions of training, she still felt unconfident with regard to a new warfare they were going to implement next. The new tactical drills were fine and they understood the result would be excellent. However, a guerilla war tactic by Lireesa wasn't proven and she had trepidation about the outcome.
There was nothing Sena could do but hope Lireesa's strategy would work well in the coming battle. It was definitely going to be long and gruesome. Luckily, Lireesa never required them to hold the line except to operate in the troll's territory.
"Say it quick. Stop hanging us around." Sena said angrily while her eyes watched everyone around. "Or else don't blame me for allowing others to wantonly act on you."
After the ride heard Sena's threat, she shivered especially after noticing the gawking around her. These menacing eyes told her she wouldn't want to know the consequences if she withheld the information. She blurted out quickly despite knowing the threat wasn't occurring in reality but she didn't want to be hated by others.
"Larger troll's number than before. It's just there is an increase in high-level opponents. But we can still handle those." The rider paused and said the rest firmly with some worries. "We also spotted probably 3 quasi-legends inside the camp. We're not sure but from the way these high-level acted with respect toward them, we have to take such a guess. The chances of the descendants of the chieftains were terribly low."
Sure enough, everyone went silent after hearing such news. Alleria's eyes also regained her light and she no longer had the desire to sleep. Sena mouthed her words slowly: "3 level 9 trolls. Is that what you meant?"
The rider nodded but her eyes showed unsureness: "I'm not sure but this is our guess. We didn't dare to get close enough to avoid being spotted or conspired by these trolls."
Although it was unlikely, Sena still asked: "Is there by any chance they're pretending after knowing your scouts were flying around to intimidate us."
The rider said nothing but shook her head. Even if the rider wasn't the leader of the scout unit, she still had her own judgment and would never exaggerate her findings. Sena took a deep breath, apparently disturbed by the news, and turned her head to observe the Windrunners' reaction. They weren't frightened nor exasperated since they believed in front of so many level 7-8 rangers, even the level 9 powerhouses had to kneel and couldn't use their full power. Moreover, they still possessed air superiority and decided to utilize as an effective counter to these quasi-legends.
Sena wasn't actually worried about these level 9s and her mind never registered them to the point of importance. What she thought more was in fact the guess whether there was a legend behind the scenes hiding around and controlling the whole troll's army. That would be a huge danger for the next combat and she had to plan accordingly. She wasn't complacent enough to believe she could face the legendary opponent despite the three level 9s weren't put in her eyes. The silence continued for several minutes and the rider didn't dare to leave.
Flames flickered around lighting up everyone's skin and beautifying the moment. The redness from the heat and the warm blood flow was a great sight for any man to behold, but none existed to admire this scene under the night. Perhaps only Sena who was interested in the same gender would look carefully. However, the current Sena was perplexed with her indecisions and reckoned she might need to ask Lireesa for help. The situation was totally unexpected to receive the troll's ferocious response. When you put every calculation in the equation but never inputted the fool's card, such a scenario occurred. She wasn't sure if the legend was in the enemy camp, but the assumption must still be there. Sena lamented this particular legend if he or she existed was probably a dump buffoon. Forgot it, she was now supposed to ask Lireesa for help.
"You go and watch the enemies' camp and do not let go of any sign for more information." Sena's severe tone rang inside the rider's ear, causing her to not miss any of Sena's words. "Ask your leader to come beside me for any emergency. Don't worry about this news and spread it across the rest of the elements. We no longer need to hide our predicaments."
The rider nodded and was dismissed, disappearing soon from everyone's sight. Sena voiced her thoughts out loud: "Things are no longer under control and we might need guidance from our Lady. But currently, she might still be asleep and we shouldn't bother her, not to mention our situation wasn't an emergency since we still have time."
"Correct! Time is on our side; the initiative is in our hands. We can decide every factor here for the next battle. No doubt about it. Should the worst case happen, we can retreat. Our best support Lady Lireesa will be there." One of the rangers agreed with Sena. Her opinion brightened up the anxious atmosphere and received nods from everyone.
Sena walked away and sit beside Alleria slouching on the same tree trunk. Looking at Alleria who was wide awake, Sena smiled at her and said patting on Alleria's thigh, "Go ahead. Have some sleep before the dawn come because once the sun is on the horizon you might not be able to enter your sweet dream again. It's no use thinking more and worrying. Get your energy full before you decide you can help us."
Alleria nodded and didn't say much, closing her eyes and leaning against Sena's shoulder, who curled her lips and wanted to tease but decided to pass on to avoid peeving Alleria from her slumber. In Sena's opinion, having sufficient rest was the most crucial for Alleria's circumstances and she might be a help afterward; otherwise, she would cause worry and disturbance, creating a nuisance among the Windrunners.
Girl, you did really well. You made us proud. Maybe you don't know but everyone here was already convinced by your courage and determination. Lireesa no longer needs to pave the way for you since you already can walk your path. Sena thought to herself and also went into slumber, not at all perturbed as her confidence in her subordinates to arrange everything required was always there. If they couldn't figure out a solution, they would wake her up by then.
.....
Lireesa woke up as usual and rubbed her eyes. Her smile became gentle after finding Lina bubbling beside her. She never expected she would sleep smoothly and Lina was undoubtedly her lucky charm. Sweet and cute; her face could be molded into any shape. Although if Lireesa did this to other daughters and no one complained, it might develop into something everyone talked about behind the scenes.
Lireesa got up from the bed and went outside, greeting her maids while receiving ready-made to prepare for a wash. She lamented the life of a rich aristocrat and how easy to become corrupted. Luckily as a ranger-general, her will was strong and her discipline never slackened. After taking a bath and changing into training suits, she entered the practice courtyard and exercised archery plus all the close combat drills she knew.
Of course, she no longer required herself to be an instructor for the maids to train the longsword fights because she forced them to practice themselves every day in the morning. The time was still early and the sky had only brightened a little bit without even seeing the sun on the horizon. Even if she was proficient in combat after being a level 9 peak for so long, she was never tired nor mentally fatigued. Plus, her combat strength had completely grown so immense that she could beat the previous Lireesa without sweating. She must rapidly become familiar with her own strength for control and efficient moves.
Soon when she practiced with her double daggers after finishing longsword drills, Sylvanas and Vereesa arrived; the two had distinct expressions on their faces. Vereesa showed helplessness and desired to sleep instead of practice. She was grieving at her elder sister who forced her to be with her. Sylvanas was unexpectedly eager to strengthen herself and her naughtiness was also satisfied after bullying her younger sister. Lireesa was amazed at Sylvanas's persistence when compared with her innate behaviors, who craved to always play and tease around others. To make these trainings became a habit wasn't easy, because Lireesa knew for an underage whose concentration was hard to maintain, usually quit after struggling for a long time. They tended to tire themselves mentally following the adult's routine and quickly lost interest.
Fortunately, Sylvanas was the opposite and to change a habit, Lireesa learned from a previous life: the easiest way was to continue persistently for about a week, and soon a person couldn't stay still without completing the routines. Since Sylvanas entered the training hall for more than a week, her discipline needed not to worry again and even if she loitered around Lireesa would always be there to fix it. On the other hand, Vereesa despite expressing her dissatisfaction, was now terribly used to training which she herself didn't notice. Because her sister pulled her into a mess, in her subconscious Sylvanas was the culprit for all of this.
Lireesa greeted them and let them continue what they planned to do this morning. She also said, "Today, we'll be leaving to visit Silvermoon City. Are you not excited?"
Vereesa's eyes instantly brightened while Sylvanas who seemed to have expected showed no emotion. Vereesa said excited, "Really? Too bad Alleria isn't with us."
Sylvanas's pupils dilated as soon as she heard Alleria, making Lireesa speechless. She wondered if Sylvanas was Siscon and the more she pondered the more her speculation was closer to the truth. Gazing at Sylvanas with inexplicable expression, Lireesa didn't want to delve any further. She replied, "Next time, we'll go together. Alright, continue your training this morning because afterward, we might not have such an opportunity for a week."
Lireesa wished to converse with her daughters longer but she saw a maid running in holding a device, which Lireesa communicated with Sena in the past days. Frankly, Lireesa was also surprised mobile phones was available here even though it utilized the mana from the caller to set up a link. Depending on the distance, the mana consumption differed. The longer the distance, the higher the expenditure of mana. To prevent her daughters from hearing what Lireesa and Sena were talking about next, Lireesa went out and entered her own private room which was soundproof.
She wasn't sure if she stayed only further away from Sylvanas and Vereesa, they couldn't hear her. Since everyone was elves and their talent was in perception to the surrounding and mana utilization, it was easy for others to eavesdrop on her next conversation.
She answered the call and hadn't even greeted; she heard Sena's hesitant voice, "Lireesa, although I don't want to disturb you, but it appears our situation might need your help here. We may no longer be able to continue our operation."
