"Those blasted Kilrunian! To think the formation could do so much damage to our force," the Duke of Mizalas yelled, finding the situation frustrating. He thought the Kilrun Duchy would be vulnerable, with how much he did to incite the bandit's uprising along with helping them, even sending some of his weaker Genesis Sea experts to cause some havoc, yet they were still able to garner a large force, enough to make the casualties almost not worth it. Almost.
"Still, in the end, we still have our trump card," the Duke silently said before looking at one of his messengers.
"Tell the rest to come to the capital of Kilrun. I want them to be here a week from today," he ordered his men, the messenger bowing to his lord before flying away. Soon, several other messengers left the camp, all heading towards their target.
He turned his attention to the capital, a twisted smile began to form on his face. "Soon, you will be destroyed,"

"Sir, there is another attack though they seem to brought a new weapon," the observer told them, Ryker turned his head in that direction and saw several movable towers being pushed their way.
"What is that?" beside him, the Marshal exclaimed, eyes squinting, as if that would help him see better.
"Whatever it is, it would not be good news for us," the High Captain exclaimed, the others agreeing with his statement.
Aside from the moving towers, there are also the trebuchets and ballistae moving side by side. If Ryker had to guess, the moving tower is likely some kind of siege engine, the others coming to the same conclusion as he is.
Soon, the siege engines stopped, with someone getting on top of the tower. Behind the towers, all other siege engines also stop, all of them pointing at the capital.
"It seems they charging the tower with... uh, I'm not sure if I am seeing this right, sir," one of the observers told them, clearly perplexed by whatever he saw.
"Just tell us," the Marshal told the man, who shrugged.
"It seems to be powered by the people. The soldiers on top of the tower seemed to be powering the towers with their qi while one seemed to be the one that aimed," the observer told in detail of what he saw, without missing a single thing.
"Oh, it seems to be weapons that used qi, so like an energy-based, or qi-based in this case, siege engines," the Grand Advisor concluded.
"It seems so, but..." Ryker let out a small chuckle, the rest following suit.
"They seem to not know the futility of their action,"

"Ready, aim, fire!" one of the Genesis Sea experts ordered his side to fire at the barrier. Around the capital, the other towers also fired a powerful beam, strong enough to even injure, maybe kill, a Genesis Sea expert.
Yet, to the shock of the attacker, the beam hit the barrier and did not do anything. None of the beams even cause a crack to form on the barrier.
"Aargh! Fire again! And do not stop until you drop dead from exhaustion or the barrier is down!" the Genesis Sea expert ordered, the soldiers followed the orders and began to relentlessly fire upon the barrier.
"Even if it will take a while, the barrier should be destroyed by noon or so,"
-x-
"How strong is this barrier?!" the Duke of Mizalas roared. He had watched as the new siege engines fired continuously upon the barrier yet it did not do anything.
All of the towers firing at the same time should have broken the barrier but it did not even cause a crack to appear, much to the man's frustration.
Worst still, the towers consumed a lot of qi from his soldiers and he was forced to use nearly two hundred men per tower as the officers had all ordered them to fire as much as they could, causing the first rotation to be exhausted far too early.
And now, it seems the second rotation also slowly reaching its limit, the pills and potions used to recover their qi were not effective enough to fill their qi reserve in one go and his man required time to absorb the energy from the surrounding to replenish their qi.
In the meantime, the other siege engines also did their load, the trebuchets hurling enhanced boulders at the walls and the ballistae shooting bolts at the battlements and towers.
Yet, similar to yesterday, it did not yield any results aside from using their ammunition and, hopefully, wearing down the barrier, though he did not have much hope for the latter.
"Seriously, how did the Kilrunian able to have their hands on such a powerful formation?"
-x-
"Another group had been pulled out of the towers, sir, and there seems to be another group that entered the tower," the observer told of his observation, the High Command nodding at his word.
"So, will we use 'that' now?" the High Captain asked.
"While I do think it is too early, if we can claim many kills at this moment, I do not see any reason why we should not do it," the Marshal replied, before looking at the person who commanded the entire defender force.
"Sure," Ryker said, "Let them taste what the formation could also do and that they are not the only one who can attack in this battle,"
-x-
As the siege engines of the Mizalas unleashed their payload upon the capital, several places on the wall of the capital glowed, from dim to bright and brighter by the minutes, blinding some of the attackers in the process.
-x-
"Sir, there seems to be something glowing on the enemy side," one of the officers reported.
"I can see that you fools, what I want to know is what it is!" the Duke scolded his man before eying the glowing things.
"What are they up to now?"
-x-
"Battle Aura Formation, activate!"
"Southern Battle Aura Formation, activated!"
"Northern Battle Aura Formation, activated!"
"Eastern Battle Aura Formation, activated!"
As the light glows even brighter, Ryker holds the communication time to his mouth and issues his order,
"Blast them to smithereens,"
-x-
The light slowly morphed into a huge warrior carrying a bow, before it took aim at the tower and shot an arrow towards the tower.
Realizing the danger, one of the Genesis Sea experts flew to intercept the arrow, using his body as a shield and creating a powerful barrier as well as using a defensive technique to ensure the arrow would only do little harm towards him.
Yet, to his horror, the arrow easily pierced him, severing the man in half before hitting the tower and causing some part of it to collapse, killing some of the soldiers inside.
The same thing happened all over the battlefield, some Genesis Sea experts sacrificed themselves only to be killed, some able to block it but had to pay a heavy price, while some even worse, being too far away and could only watch as the tower was destroyed in a single shot.
As huge arrows rained down upon the Mizalas' formation, they began to retreat, several Genesis Sea experts covering each tower to ensure it would not be destroyed.
