Kapitel 47: Queen Z

"David…" I licked my lips nervously as I trailed off.

"Zara."

He held me so close I couldn't hide anything—he could feel the beat of my heart. And I couldn't veil my emotions because I couldn't tear my eyes from his. I couldn't breathe.

"You're talking about…"

"Making you Queen, yes."

Holy shit.

This had to be a dream. It had to be. But my heart was pounding. My fingers stung where I'd cut them on Ash's sword. And David was… He was real. Under my hands, between my knees, right in front of my face.

Holy shit.

"I'm not the right one," I blurted, even though a flaming arrow of Are You Fucking Crazy Zara shot through my stomach.

David arched one brow. "Have you lied to me this morning?"

"No."

"Excellent, because I haven't lied to you, either. So, do you mind telling me why I would want to choose anyone other than you?"
