Kapitel 125: The edge of sacrilege, part 1

There were no gasps of shock at the statement, nor any other dramatic shows of surprise from the lords. The crowd of onlookers, kept safely away by a circle of guards, grew noisier—but at this moment, no one cared for the opinions of simple commoners.

The one to show the strongest reaction was chief Sceerk. As always, it was delayed by the need for his translator to pass him the meaning of the words, but then…

With an angry whistle, Sceerk clapped his tail on Bubbles' head. The kraken obediently lifted a tip of a massive tentacle, gently grabbing Sceerk by his waist and depositing him on the pier as carefully as an egg. Then it withdrew, leaving the chief to sit down on his tail—ungracefully, but still close enough to express his anger at Suor with a tirade of clicks, whistling and gestures.

Pietro glanced at Cael, wordlessly asking if he should translate, but Cael shook his head. He addressed Suor.
