Cael held Ginevra's hand as he cast the Vitality Transfer spell.
He really tried to not botch it right in front of the woman, but the nervous tension was the exact thing that set him off this time.
The second time it was just her distracting presence, and the way her nipples, if he looked close enough, poked through her shirt—not the ugly prison stuff, but a nicer item, one of Cael's gifts. But the third time, he did it.
Ginevra watched Cael with rapt attention all that time, and didn't comment—if not for the slight twitches of the corners of her mouth, he'd think she was completely indifferent to the situation.
He didn't doubt she was memorizing the words of the spell, too. Cael was positive that Ginevra knew Arcani like it was her first language. He doubted, though, that she'd be able to copy the spell merely from listening to it.
