I'd been sitting there on the mountain all day. Unable to figure out what to do about this situation, I hadn't allowed myself to return to the castle, to Talia. I needed to figure out what to tell her. How to break this unfortunate news to her. Until then, I needed to stay away.

Every moment I was away though, I was wracked with guilt and pain. So much about this situation, this whole day, had gone wrong in so many ways. I was still trying to mull through it all when it started to get dark. Then, as if the universe were against me in every way possible, I heard something behind me. 

Queen Trinity's magic isn't easy to pick up on when it's first casted, or even after a while, if I'm being honest. I had to wait until they were here, on this side of the door, for me to even realize what was going on. And by that time, it was too late.
