Kapitel 11: Jealousy

Stefano was set, set for the revenge, set to lure Isabella into his cage. He's got to start now or he might never get the chance to, his effect was going to be slow but lethal. His lips pulled up into a wide grin, just by the thought of it all.

"You are sooo... dead" he said, particularly to no one, perhaps the invisible Isabella Romano. He tried to suppress a smile but felt the corner of his mouth twitch.

Stefano wiggled his nose as the smell of the lab he was in got to him. It smelt like diluted Gatorade and worst still was that someone broke open a tube of beta-mercaptoethanol, which has the odour of something like rotten eggs mixed with rubber and got away with it.

"Is this even a school" Stef blurted and got to his feet, then strode out. Every step he took was graceful, his hands were shoved down in his pockets, his head was bent down as he combed his hair with his fingers.

He trotted out of the main school and jogged down to the library, he was only halfway in when he saw two figures, walking together, giggling and chatting happily. He wasn't interested in the second figure, he picked interest in the first one and what brought her to the school she so hated.

"Sofia?" Stefano called and sauntered in.

Sofia heard her name and angled her head to the direction where the voice came from. Her eyes beamed with a smile when she saw him.

"Stef" she called and let go of Emilia's hand, but then stopped and dragged her along.

Before she could meet him, the librarian came face to face with her and warned her about the rules of staying quiet.

"Sorry" she apologized then continued her walk towards Stefano.

"Heya old friend" Sofia nudged him playfully.

"Tsk" he scoffed "I don't remember you greeting an old friend that way" he joked.

"Shut up" she laughed "C'mon let's get outta here before the librarian comes at me again" she led the way dragging Emilia along, while Stef trailed behind.

"You don't mind if I go back in right?, I've got a make up test tomorrow and I need to study" Emilia excused herself.

"Sure" she agreed.

Once she was gone, Stefano directed his attention back to Sofia.

"So...?"

"Don't even ask" she stopped, already knowing the question he was about to ask.

"Tell me" he demanded.

"It's all my dad's idea" she sighed.

"You know what let's talk in the cafeteria" Sofia suggested.

"Okay".

They got into the cafeteria and saw a comfortable space. Sofia and Stefano got stares from a bunch of students.

"Oh crap" Sofia whispered to herself. Of course they would still recognize her, she spent most of her time with the three most popular guys in school which were, Stefano, Francesco and Tony.

Ouch.

That last name hurts alot.

They sat down comfortably, once they were settled, Stefano said

"Go on".

"Pfft, it's nothing really much, I wonder why you are curious but anyways. It's my dad that wanted the change and I didn't have a say on that. How cliche?".

"I see" Stefano nodded in understanding "So how have you been doing without..."

"Good!, I've been wonderful" Sofia cut him short not giving him the chance to mention the name.

Stefano studied her, it didn't take him a second to realize that she wasn't telling the truth. He figured she didn't want to talk about Tony so he saved his questions for later.

"Let's talk about something else" he offered.

"Where's Frankie?" Sofia asked looking around childishly "Don't tell me he's no longer coming to this school" her eyes were wide open if what she feared might be true.

"He's..."

"I'm right here" Francesco chipped in walking towards them.

Stefano was caught by surprise but covered it up with his cold and stoic expression.

"Frankie! I was already worried that you weren't attending this school anymore" Sofia stated as relief gushed through her.

"No worries bestie" Francesco patted her on the back then gave her a soothing smile. He grabbed a chair and sat opposite her, then glanced at Stef's direction and smirked.

"Are you okay?" Francesco asked, directing his question to Sofia.

"Yeah better than before" she chuckled.

"I can see" he nodded.

"So..., I guess you and Stef have been hanging out lately. Fill me in".

Sofia didn't receive any response causing her to glance at Stefano and Francesco, she could sense the tense aura between them.

"Anything wrong?" she inquired.

"Everything's fine. Right Frank?" Stefano glared at him.

"Yes, everything is fine" Francesco forcefully agreed.

"Okay, then you both should stop acting weird".

Someone rushed into the cafeteria annoyingly, that person caught Francesco, Sofia and Stefano's attention.

'Bella' Francesco thought.

'My new friend' Sofia thought.

'The prey' Stefano thought.

"Bella! Over here" Sofia shouted waving her hand to signal Bella. Bella caught her and walked to their table, her face that was filled with anger a minute ago had now dissipated into a smiling one.

"Hey y'all" she greeted and sat opposite Stefano.

"Hi" Sofia waved.

"Seems like you've got a new friend aside us" Francesco giggled.

"Yeah she's pretty nice. You must have met her before 'cause she's in our class".

"Yeah, we've talked a couple of times" Francesco replied peering his eyes at Bella and she smiled at him.

Stefano heard the words and became more curious and keen to hear, he couldn't believe Francesco had been talking to her, when he, had been planning how to approach her.

"What have you been up to Bella?" Stef asked drawing the attention to himself.

"I guess you've finally agreed to be my vice?" Francesco interrupted intentionally.

"Yes I have. I thought it through the night" she replied Francesco, completely ignoring Stefano.

"So you are running for the student council election?" Stefano asked a second question this time louder, telling himself that she didn't ignore him, maybe she just didn't hear him.

"Thanks for accepting" Francesco appreciated.

"You are welcome" she answered.

Hell!, she really did ignore him, Stefano felt a pang of jealousy set in his heart, he wasn't used to feeling like this, no one has ever ignored him. She ignored him just to answer Francesco. He was damn jealous, Francesco must have told her something about him, Stefano thought. Maybe that's why she's ignoring him.

'You really don't want to start a war with me Frank' he thought to himself.

"I wish you all the best" Sofia said to Bella, pulling Stefano back from his trail of thoughts.

"Thanks".

The cafeteria door swung open and two hefty men rolled in, those were the men that came for Bella two days ago, alot of students recognized them. They walked up to the table Bella was.

"Oh crap" she sighed inwardly.

"We suggest that you return to your class miss" one of them said, his deep hoarse voice felt so intimidating.

The anger that walked her into the cafeteria surfaced, she banged her fist down on the table then stormed out. The guards followed shortly after her.

"That ain't gonna be good. Who are they?" Sofia asked.

"I have no idea" Francesco shrugged "But that ain't the first time this shit is happening".

Stefano knew the only person that could have done that. He thinks he's protecting his precious daughter. But none of that bothered him, he only wondered why she ignored him.

Wait!, was that jealousy he was feeling?
