Kapitel 205: The Closure

Gustav listened half the night for the moment when David would leave his bed, but all he could hear was the calm breathing of the sleeper. In the end, he himself succumbed to the temptation of Morpheus and didn't even notice when he fell asleep. And now he was greeted by the rays of the rising sun.

Autumn was approaching, so the morning was getting up later and later. Gustav looked at the sun for a while and then began to listen. He could hear birds singing. A car drove along the highway from time to time. The normal sounds of the morning when a person wakes up in bed alone.

His heart squeezed with pain.

Alone.

He knew that when he turned his head and checked, he would see an empty space. Nevertheless, he did so. And yes, the place was empty.

He closed his eyes.

He had expected this, and yet....

He wanted to fall asleep and not wake up again.
