Kapitel 8: Ritual
"Huh??" Joesh was shocked by the sudden confession and felt like he was daydreaming.
"You might think I am selfish, well, I very am. I said I will kill you and all, and when I heard about your blessing, I was shocked… I was doing everything for my clan, even the Lightning Curse Core. I need it to become even stronger, but I had to kill you for it, with that blessing; killing you is the last thing I can think of." She explained to him.
Joesh listened silently, trying to understand her perspective.
"Then all of a sudden I remember something, if you marry me, you can become part of my clan, and Lightning Cruse Core will also be in my clan… I felt this was the best option. But yeah, we don't have to marry now, I am just telling you this… if I marry you now, you will be killed the next day. After all, you are just a normal human."
Joesh was surprised by her words, and he thought about it, what if he was in her position? Would he marry a random guy who he met a few hours ago? 'That sounds gay, but I didn't think I would sacrifice myself for something like that… but is my power that strong? That made her think about inviting me to her clan while marrying a total stranger?'
"Sela Blue-san, would you mind if I ask something personal?" he asked her
"Hmm" she raised her eyebrow "what?"
"Have you ever dated someone before?" he asked her.
"Huh? Why that all of a sudden…" she questioned.
"Just asking"
"I'm a busy person. I never had time for that," she stated. She had been appointed as a clan head at the age of 12, and since then, her only goal was to become strong and restore the lost glory of her clan.
"Me too, maybe that is why we are talking like this?" he said, he understood that she was the same as him, but she also didn't know what love is— That was probably why she had considered marrying him, even though she didn't like him or have any feelings for him.
"I don't know what you mean by that, but I did what a clan head needed to do for her clan," she replied. They entered a large, old house that resembled a traditional Japanese house, with a sign hanging above the door in either Japanese or Chinese characters, which Joesh couldn't tell.
As they walked in, everyone who noticed Sela Blue bowed, no one cared about Joesh who was behind her.
"Prepare something to eat" Sela Blue instructed the maids who wore purple robes and then walked away.
"Yes ma'am,"
Both Sela Blue and Joesh sat on a large sofa. Joesh liked it more than he probably should have.
"Hmm, Joesh, why you didn't ask that question?" she asked looking at him.
"What question?" He was puzzled, as he hadn't asked that many questions …he wondered what was she expecting from him?
Sela Blue was thinking he would ask it… "Never mind, what do you think? Join my clan for now. I won't take the Lightning Curse Core from you."
Joesh nodded. He had been ready to die before, but now he didn't want to.
"You still have 50 minutes left. Before that, we have to perform a ritual. The core, which is connected to your soul, will merge with your body, so it becomes yours and so you will not turn into a monster" she said to him as the food arrived.
Joesh didn't understand what she meant by a ritual, but he was okay with it.
"Let's eat and start the ritual, it's not going to take much time"
The maids bought plates for both and served them.
'I don't see a lot of men here…' he thought, there were many women, but very few men, only the elderly and kids children were present.
"The others are in the training place right now. Every man in the Sela Clan is a warrior," she noticed his gaze and explained.
"Oh," he nodded and ate the food. He was happy to have dinner with her at the same table.
"Now, let's go" after eating, they walked into a dark room, there was not a single source of light in it.
"What is this room?" he asked in confusion. He had never seen such a dark room before. He used to live in a dark room, but this was on a different level!
"This room is designed for rituals. It is painted with the blood of a monster that can absorb light, so it is very dark," she explained as they entered the room.
Joesh followed her, and as the door closed, he said, "Wait!"
"I am here, so there's no need to worry," she said, holding his hands gently.
"O-Okay," he replied, still feeling a bit scared. He couldn't tell if his eyes were open or closed; everything felt the same.
"Now, slowly raise your leg and step into the pool," she instructed, and Joesh followed her words. His foot touched a liquid surface.
"W— I should have stripped if it is like this…" he exclaimed, realizing his new dress was already wet.
"You're already naked; you just can't feel it," Sela Blue replied calmly.
"What? When did that happen?" Joesh tried to touch his clothes, but they were nowhere to be found. He was completely exposed!
"Sela Blue-san…"
"You don't have no time to think about it. Walk straight ahead and don't stop," she urged, leading him to the middle of the pool.
"First, make the Earth sign with your hands," she instructed, showing him how to form the sign. Joesh smiled, feeling good as Sela Blue held his fingers to help him make the sign.
"Now, you have to pray for Mother Earth. Repeat after me in your mind, not with your mouth. Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am," Joesh replied.
"O, Mother Earth," Sela Blue began.
'O, Mother Earth,' Joesh repeated in his mind
"I, a human, your beloved child,"

Suddenly a lightning appeared above Joesh's head and entered his body.
"AHHH!" Joesh cried out as he felt millions of needles piercing his body. He collapsed on the ground, struggling to breathe.
"Hold on, Joesh. You won't die! Once you become one with the core, you will become stronger," Sela Blue reassured him.
Joesh could hear her words, but he was not in the right mind…
