Chapter 10: Unlocked Phone.

Francisca's POV

Using light energy, I placed a finger under the charging port focusing my mana to that certain spot. God must've made this a fast battery receiving phone because after just a few minutes.

The percentage 100% was in front of my screen.

My phone was fully charged, the LED was still alright with no cracks and my old wallpaper was still here.

A picture of my dog… and my little sister back on earth.

I smiled missing them dearly, she… wasn't born with the same purple hair as me but- she bought some dyes and tried giving her hair the same color leaving a giant mess over our sink. "Oh that dummy…"

I inserted my pin number while remembering the password, I managed to unlock it by seeing several apps back from earth- "Hmm…"

Luckily my brother is asleep.

Glenn and I share rooms so he doesn't see anything happening to me opening my phone but what will happen if mom and dad found out?

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Honey, is there any problem? I checked if you're okay."

"!!!"

It was mom's voice, quickly on instinct I hid my phone behind my back pressing the off button, the light from the screen faded and I ran into my bed.

I quickly pulled the blanket over me and replied. "I'm okay mom… is there anything you need?"

"I just want to talk to you, hon, about what happened. What you're feeling right now. You know- with how… you almost- um…" She comes inside of my room and sits down on the edge of my bed, holding her forehead looking… tired.

Her eyes were red- I assume from crying.

"I just- I should've watched you three more." (Mom) tells me, looking directly into my eyes. "If anything had happened to you- Glenn and Audrey. I won't be able to sleep soundly at night, I'll kill every-"

"M-Mom- look on the brightside!" I pulled her arm and gave her my most reassuring smile I could mutter, I know what happened isn't exactly easy to forget but- "At least now I know that I can use light and fire elements and possibly copy any kind of spell if it's my element."

"That's your meaning of brightside? Honey, I know that's wonderful knowing your magic but- you're only five… you don't need to experience any of what happened today." (Mom) sighs holding my little arms, slowly pulling me into a hug.

My body slowly relaxes to my mother's familiar scent, her lavender perfume was now like how I would think home should smell. After five years… of being taken care of, I felt safe.

"I promised to protect you, but after this I realized… even though you're young… so young that I don't want to do this but-"

She breaks our hug and looks at me seriously.

The expression on her face made me worry, as she stands up and tells me to follow her outside in the middle of the night. "Come with me in the garden." (Mom)

The garden?

We walked outside of my room, father was nowhere to be found and I continued to follow her to the back of the garden.

We walked past our familiar plants, from the flowers we planted together as a family to the thick trees until we've reached- a dead end. A huge wall of stone blocked our way to whatever she was trying to go to.

It was a dead end.

"Mom…?" I called out to her name thinking if the path we took was right, and that we didn't just get lost in our own forest.

"Ah, ah, ah." She waves her finger a few times before walking forward searching for something. "Don't always believe what you only see."

Shkkk!

Mom pulled one of the vines and there was a tree that opened its half body revealing a secret entrance.

"Whoa!" I said with glistening eyes. I know that's probably normal but it's my first time seeing a secret passage in this world!

"Pretty amazing right?" (Mom) smiles while holding my hand.

We went through the secret passage and I saw a training course full of- many things I didn't know what they're called. The only thing I know was the books in their little library on the side, a small space for a gym to work out on and a training dummy that had a hole inside of it.

"Listen Francisca this the family training course and I think… you're ready for it but be careful on some of the things in here. I'll have to teach you everything I know from scratch." (Mom) leads me into a little space near the small library where she raises me up to place on the chair.

"Do you know why our last name is Nevé?"

I remember reading from the book of clans, Clan of Nevé was one of them. They were people who hid in the dark, many of them were blessed with ice magic then paired with the Clan of Scoundrel.

It was a rare feat for one person to contain two kinds of magic.

My mother used her noise canceling magic more than she used her ice and I've always wondered why… the book didn't say anything on the matter.

And I never have seen her use it.

"Because we specialize in water spells as well as freezing techniques and spell other elements." I said and she looked over impressed.

"Very Good, now this training course is where we snow clan train, master, and perfect our techniques passed on to generation."

Mom gave me stones which I read in a book called [Elemental stones].

"Give it a little bit of magic power and say 'Fire come forth' or any kind of element and if that element responds that means you can use that element."

There seems to be some stones missing.

There are only [Elemental stones] that almost everyone in existence can use to know what kind of magic they have.

"You do know what this is right? So you know you'll be careful with it?"

"Yup. I know all of the stones so mom can I try these stones out?"

"Of course, but can you please start with water because I have a spell to teach you later, I'm also going to set up a magic barrier so the element's you'll summon would be trapped in one space." (Mom) placed her hands on the ground, and soon we were enveloped in an ice barrier.

"Whoah!"

"Go ahead, kiddo! If what you told me before was right! Copying any spell means you might have a huge lottery in magic affinity!"

I started with the water stone, taking it and putting it inside my palms holding it near before summoning the water element to respond to my calling.

"Water come forth!"

Splash!

Water filled up half of the training course. I felt the water beneath my feet and it was cold. I didn't realize myself smiling so widely seeing that the water element responded to my summoning!

I could hear mom clapping not too far.

"That's a strong magic energy and you're only five!"

Wanting to secretly be praised more.

I didn't hesitate to call all the other stones.

"Fire, water, wind, light, dark, earth come forth!"

All of the stones responded to my calling.

Crack Crack!

It was so strong that even moms magic barrier broke.

"Oh dear!" (Mom) quickly runs over to me- but in my eyes she was all a blur but not until I could feel her hands holding my waist and getting us out of that small space where the ice barrier was.

Small sharp pieces of ice started falling down but I couldn't help but take a look at mom's expression looking so proud.

"Look at you! Destroying your own mother's barrier." She even applauds that I broke her barrier. Pride swelled up into my chest and cheered inside-

That's right mom! I'm so awesome!

She puts me down looking at the damage my magic did.

Almost half of the place was destroyed.

I immediately felt guilty, tugging on my mom's pants. "Sorry…"

"Oh don't be dear, now well… Why don't we try another spell? This one is special. It's something anyone can learn but you'd have to be really skilled to do it." She pats my head reassuring me that everything I broke would be fixed.

She calls another magic circle but this time, it was colored in bright gold gleaming. "[Restoration Magic: Restoration]!"

Everything that I broke was fixed.

"Listen Francisca this spell can restore anything but a broken heart and the ones who have already left us." (Mom) holds my hand, slowly she raises it and I can feel my mana getting stronger.

"However it can restore broken bones and parts of the body, but remember this spell can be only used sometimes, not every time you break something, it requires a huge amount of magical power so it drains a really large amount of it. Mommy can only use this once a day."

Once… a day?

"This spell is a null spell as you know it's a personal spell. It can't be easily mastered because you have to at least have the same magical power as mommy. Want me to teach it to you?" she asks and I of course!

I want to!

That kind of OP spell will only help me in the future!

"Oh yes! Now I can fix anything I break!"

I jumped for joy until…

"What is this?"

Mom said holding my phone.

Why of all things it must have dropped when I was practicing the elemental stones?Mom pushed the button to turn on the phone.

"OH MY GOD, Francisca, don't get near that thing it lit up. I've always thought it was a toy but-! If it's some sort of bomb-!" Mom backed away after tossing it quickly, putting me behind her, shielding my body.

"Mom, no! It's okay!" I told her and ran to get the phone that was tossed aside.

Thank goodness it didn't break but mom was still freaking out.

"Mom, don't be scared! It's just… a toy that lights up when I want to?" I tell her hopeful that the excuse would work, but seeing the look on her face it doesn't seem like it's working so much-

"Do you take your mom for a fool? I could feel a huge amount of magic power inside of it. That's why I mistook it for a bomb."

Urk… That might be because I used to charge this with my own magical power just a few moments ago. Did I put a lot to the point she mistook it for a bomb?

"You have to explain everything to me as in right now!"

After a brief moment of explanation…

I did tell her what the device was called, and how I managed to open it but I couldn't tell her that I know how I got it.

"I see you remembered it, you know when you're a baby I couldn't get that... what's that thing called?"

"A phone mom."

"Right, that phone Father Joseph said that it came with the basket you're sleeping in when you were a baby. So you think it's an artifact? I have never seen anything like it."

Because it came from another world.

"I don't plan on selling this mom but now that you know please understand it came with me so that means... Maybe my parents left it with me."

I sure do a great job at acting.

Though that acting came with a price when I said real parents that must've hurt. Mom's face suddenly stiffened looking away, then wiped a side tear right by her eye.

"Mom um-"

"Okay honey, but tell me what is your dream? You know I still don't know what my daughter wants to do when you grow up."

Busted but I know what I want to do in this world. Knowing I have memories of my past life, I've always loved adventure and seeing how huge my magic capabilities are- I could actually live that dream!

A mage!

"Mom, I know what I want to do when I grow up."

"I want to be a royal mage and join a guild. Let my name be heard and become a legend and a hero. And make you and dad proud. Maybe even be a cool adventurer!" That's what I wanted to say and that dream is final.

"That's why you remind me of Francis so much. I love you honey. I may not be the perfect mother but I will sacrifice everything for you and Glenn."

I love my parents.

I hugged mom and she hugged me back, supporting me on what I wanted to do for the future.

For me this was one of the best mother daughter bonding ever.
