Hearing Liara's sudden scream was horror to my ears. Seeing the she-elf fall to one knee as if someone had just kicked her other leg, well, that sent fiery anger rushing through my veins. 

"Stop!" I yelled. 

"No." It was little more than a whisper and yet I could hear Circe's voice over the cacophony of yelling Lorias and I were making. 

I watched with bated breath as Circe pulled the giant-ass needle out of the straw doll's leg only to pierce its left shoulder next. 

Once again, Liara screamed. 

'Like produces like' was the basis for all sympathetic magic. In Liara's case, the doll which had stewed in her blood for gods knows how long had established a strong connection between them so that whatever Circe might do to the doll would equally affect Liara because of the connection created by her blood.

"All right!" I dropped Hrunting.
