"Damn it! Is anyone there?!" Kaelan yelled in pent-up frustration.
He was pacing up and down the small, dimly lit motel room, the scent of stale air and the faded pattern on the carpet doing little to calm his nerves.
If it wasn't already obvious, he had been trying to reach Hade and Isolde for the past couple of minutes now, but to no avail.
'Did they deliberately turn off their coms, or did someone forcibly remove them from their persons?' Kaelan naturally feared the worst.
Perhaps more than the tension, more than the nail-biting suspense, the worst part about all this was that he had to sit still in the dark, without a single clue about what was happening in the outside world.
