The other continental leaders were rightfully suspicious of what Wolfe had in mind for the future of the Frozen Wastes, and the rest of the continent, but they had not been prepared for him to just openly admit that he would go along with their plan until it no longer suited him. 

Both the Fae and the Demons took everything that they could get and fought tooth and nail to keep what they had, so the concept of Wolfe not trying to take the whole Continent when it was obvious that most of the nations would support him in the endeavour was utterly baffling to them.

What they didn't understand was that even if he didn't take the title, the people here all knew his name, they wanted the products that his people brought them, and they would listen to his plans when he wanted something done in return.
