Kapitel 46: Meat For A Beggar

Arthur's next destination was going to be the Beggar but before he could even travel halfway there, he got a notification.

>Warning: Player Arzhur's Stamina is below 20%<

>Player Arzhur is over-encumbered!<

"Ah, fuck…" Arthur was already slow and now that his stamina had fallen back down, he knew going further would only be a pain. "May as well dump all this. I look silly carrying this around." He muttered to himself.

If it weren't for the fact that no player came to this area, Arthur would have probably been surrounded. The northern part of the city was still unexplored and players were more concerned about leveling up in the southern forest, thus they hadn't come to check.

Or even if there were a few curious players, they had already come here at the start and had seen the high leveled forest in the north, along with the guards forcing them back. News also spread fast among the player base, which would help the others avoid wasting their time going to the Northern part this early.

Thus, Arthur simply headed to the inn and dumped his items there. He also got clean and changed his clothes again. They had been damaged by the attacks of enemies and stained by their blood.

It made him feel a bit uncomfortable, and cleaning up felt good.

"I'll need to mend the armor too. Though I may as well use the pelts." Arthur decided to do that later.

Leaving most of his inventory at the Inn, Arthur left for the alleyway where he had met the beggar.

It was already night time, darkness becoming commonplace. Thankfully, the beggars had lit up a few fires along the way, while they huddled around them soaking in the heat. Some were also cooking whatever food they had managed to get while others just ate scraps.

"Look, isn't it that kid?"

"Yeah, seems like he's back."

"Do you think he finished it?"

"Hah! Are you already drunk? Do you think anyone can kill that boar?"

"Even the guards won't go to kill that thing."

"Isn't that just because it lives in the forest and won't come close?"

Arthur heard the comments of the beggars, but ignored most of them. He didn't mind whatever they said, as he was just concerned with a single beggar out of all of them.

'There he is…' Arthur spotted the beggar curled up against a barrel and a broken crate that he was using as shelter.

He came to stand in front of the old beggar, wondering if the smelly guy was even awake.

"Hey!" Arthur called out.

But the beggar didn't move.

"Old fart, wake up! The kid's back." Another beggar shook the old beggar.

"Ugh! Who the fuck is disturbing my beauty sleep?" The old beggar was the least pleased, though.

"What beauty sleep? You're five decades too late for that." A beggar cooking a lizard spoke.

"And the wrong body." Another guy chugging some cheap booze shouted.

"Shut your damned rat holes!" The old beggar snarled back before looking at Arthur.

He squinted his eyes before leaning towards him.

"Huh… you really are back." The old beggar said, feeing a bit surprised. "I thought you'd be dead."

"What do you think? He failed to kill the beast."

"Nah, Nah, he would be dead if he had tried. He just never went there." The other beggars tried to guess.

Ignoring the banter of the beggars, Arthur decided to put an end to it by taking out the goods.

"Here you go." Arthur opened up the bag and showed them the meat.

"Huh?" The old beggar didn't get it at first, but then he took a look at it under the illumination of the fire. "What the hell!" he finally saw the fresh meat.

"No way, did he get some other meat?" the other beggars couldn't help but doubt.

"Do you think this can come from some other place?' Arthur waved the tusk he had got from the Razer Tusk Boar.

The Tusk gleamed against the light of the fire, looking rather threatening. Some of the beggars couldn't help but get a chill just looking at the tusk and wonder how painful it would be to get impaled by it.

"Well, gods be damned. The kid really did it." They finally believed him.

"There should be plenty." Arthur said as he emptied the bag onto a plank that was lying there.

A small pile of meat now laid on it, glistening under the light of the fire. Its fat and flesh contrasted, looking rather tempting to the beggars.

"You really did it huh… you're one crazy kid for sure." The old beggar nodded in approval.

"Well, since I finished the job. What do I get?" Arthur asked in anticipation.

"Yeah, what do you even got old fart?" A one armed beggar asked.

"Hell, he's broker than us!"

"I bet he got three broken coppers stashed under his ass."

"Fuck off you rat munchers!" The old beggar shouted before turning to Arthur. "Gimme a bit… I need to find it."

The old beggar scrounged through a patched up sack, that was stained with some disgusting fluids. Arthur wrinkled his nose but waited for his reward to be given.

"Here it is, I knew I still had it." The old beggar pulled out an object from the sack.

It was about the size of a palm and looked like a mottled saucer of some kind.

"What trash is that?"

"Old far, you intended to pay the kid with trash you picked up?"

"The kids getting scammed." The beggars laughed.

"Shut it, you fools! The kid can decide if he wants it or not. If not, he can take his meat back." The old beggar snarked.

"Better just keep the meat and sell it, kid."

"Yeah, he's just giving you garbage." The beggars advised.

But Arthur didn't care for it. As soon as he saw the saucer, his eyes lit up.

>Player Arzhur has completed the quest 'Hunt for Razer Tooth Boar!'<

Kapitel 47: Low Grade Pet Token

As soon as Arthur saw the mottled saucer, he knew the quest has gone as expected and the information had been right.

But with the notification popping up, it all but confirmed it.

>Player Arzhur has completed the quest 'Hunt for Razer Tooth Boar!'<

——

Grade: Uncommon

Difficulty: Hard

Reward: Low Grade Pet Token x 1

——

'Ahahaha!' Arthur internally rejoiced.

The reward was what he had been striving for since the start.

"This is satisfactory," Arthur said with a smile and quickly took the reward, not letting the others look on anymore.

His choice surprised the other beggars as they almost couldn't believe someone would willingly accept junk. Of course, this was something that they thought was junk. In reality, it was something that could easily cause a war between the players.

Not just now, but even a month later, a Pet token was something that simply didn't come into existence. Or at the very least, no player had discovered a way of getting it that early on.

The only exception to it was this particular quest.

"You're really taking it kid?" the one-armed beggar asked.

"Yep. I'm fine." Arthur said before doing a 180 and leaving the alley.

The others were left watching his back, still having not recovered from it.

"Strange kid…" they muttered.

Sizzle!

But while they were thinking about Arthur's choice, the sound of fat sizzling could be heard.

"HEY! You're cooking without us!" The beggars soon noticed the old beggar cooking a slab of meat on the fire.

"Fuck off! This is mine!" The old beggar kicked the others away.

Soon a small fight ensued but the old beggar seemingly defeated all of the other beggars.

This was of course, not of concern to Arthur as he simply returned to the inn. He needed to get his thoughts in order, as well as start with the next stage of his plan.

'I got the pet token finally… I almost thought it wouldn't be given…' Arthur thought to himself as he sat down on the bed.

The Hunt for Razer Tusk Boar quest was something several players had attempted in the past, but none had succeeded other than the one player whom Arthur was following. The quest was simply too difficult and the players were not strong enough for it.

Even if they reached level 10 which was the limit of the newbie village, they would still find themselves being killed by the beast. Arthur could recall, the players banding in a group of ten and trying to hunt down the beast.

But even that was useless as the Razer Tusk boar still managed to mow them down, impale them all or trample them under its hooves.

Eventually, the players just gave up on it, considering it to be a programmed 'impossible' quest. Such quests were common in games and were supposed to either prevent the player from going into certain areas by placing a strong enemy or to have the quest as a standard.

If the players knew there was something so strong, they would look forward to reaching the same standard.

At the same time, players could test their skills against a beast like this.

After all, the Razer Tusk Boar was the Strongest mob near the newbie village. It also gave the players a taste of what was to come beyond the newbie village.

One could also find the Razer Tusk Boars outside of the Newbie village and in several different fields. Defeating one was considered a way of getting vindication and made one feel satisfied with the growth they had.

It wasn't that players hadn't tried other ways of killing the Razer Tusk Boar either, but only the method that Arthur had used was something that was viable. And for an almost impossible quest like this, the reward was similar.

A Pet Token was precisely what it meant. It could allow a player to turn a mob into a pet.

Of course, there were many limitations to it, but even a low grade Pet Token was something that could be sold for a massive amount. Arthur could still recall when the very first Pet Token had appeared in the market, there were people trying to hunt down the seller instead of trying to buy it.

After all, they knew they had a better chance at killing and looting the Pet Token from the seller than ever being able to buy it. There were plenty of Golden Whales in the game who could throw large amounts of money and buy it outright.

The only solace that the players had was the bidding war between the Golden Whales. The time they had to find was the same as how long it would take for the Golden Whales to finish their bidding and win it.

Once the token was sold, there was no way they would be able to get it.

But now here was Arthur with a Pet Token in his hands. He looked at it closely, touching its every groove and cranny.

"I certainly cannot die now," Arthur said to himself.

If he died, the Pet Token would drop and could be picked up by anyone. Not to mention, he couldn't die either, since he had other things that would go to trash if that happened.

"Haa… I should get started on the next part now." Arthur said to himself and stood up.

He sorted out his inventory and stored the items he needed for now. The rest of the items he left in the inn. Having paid for two days, the Inn would be a safe place to keep them and no one would touch them.

It was already evening by the time Arthur left the Inn and only a faint line of red could be seen in the horizon.

With the sun close to disappearing, Arthur embarked on his next journey.

"Now then… The path should mostly be cleared by the players I think." Arthur muttered to himself.

Leaving through the southern exit of the Newbie village, Arthur went into the forest,
