Kapitel 48: Chapter 31 – Limit Break

As Regulus observed the enemy army, a man approached him from behind.

"Lambton-dono, I'm glad to see you."

"Oh, it's you, Offley. What's going on? You seem happy."

Maurice was unusually cheerful, but he denied it vigorously.

"No. No. No."

"Actually, I just remembered a joke, that's why you see my cheeks like this."

He said that, but his fox-like eyes seemed to convey something different. He looked at Regulus and asked:

"Who is he?"

"He's one of my targets; well, he became my main target after discovering my plan."

(Discovered his plan?)

(Don't lie!)

Regulus understood that the current situation was bad. He assumed a fighting stance. Maurice said:

"Did you bring him here to kill him?"

"That's right."

"It's unprofessional to bring your enemy to your base."

"It doesn't matter. Erzeberg will take care of Tyler and the other guy; meanwhile, I have to fight..."

Lambton remembered something.

"What was your name again?"

Both Maurice and Regulus fell to the ground because the enemy commander had no idea who his opponent was.

"My name is Regulus! You bring me here and don't even know that?!"

"I'm not interested in the names of men I'm going to kill."

He turned to look at Maurice and was startled to see his eyes wide open, staring intently at Regulus.

"Regulus... huh?"

"I see. I see. I see."

"Hahahahahaha."

He suddenly started laughing.

"Commander Lambton, could I have a few moments with this young man? I need to tell him something."

"Why do you want that?"

"Please, give me a few moments."

"...Okay."

Lambton was frightened by the way Maurice looked at him. It was as if he was about to kill him. Lambton was the third strongest of the Eight Knights, but he was still the leader. The weakest, Elion and Ilion, were always trying to find a way to get rid of him, but they ended up failing. The other knights also tried. But no tactic worked against him, except Maurice, who managed to make Lambton feel fear and back off a little.

Regulus asked Maurice.

"What do you want with me?"

He responded.

"I want to talk."

Without losing his wicked smile.

"Damn it!"

Mary was trying to find a way to open the bars and escape. Julie also helped, but nothing worked. Rose tried to use magic power or a spell, but nothing happened.

"It seems these bars absorb magic power. We can't get out."

"Noooooooooooo!"

Cloe screamed as she started crying.

"This can't be happening. My older sister, Rachelle onee-sama, I want to see her again."

Esther comforted her.

"Don't worry, Cloe-chan. We'll get out of here."

Cloe, in panic, cried out:

"How will we get out? Those guys won't let us go. No one knows we're here."

Esther tried to calm her down.

"Cecil is my father's and my right hand. I'm sure she'll find us."

That's what Esther thought, but she had no idea where they were. She also didn't know if Cecil had been captured later. The little confidence she had was fading away. The girls were scared. Mary saw them trembling, and she was trembling too.

(Regu-chan.)

She wanted her boyfriend Regulus to come and save her, but she had no idea where he was.

(If only I had some power, I could get us out of here.)

She thought as something strange suddenly happened.

(Do you finally desire power?)

She heard a woman's voice. She looked ahead, and there was the white rabbit in front of her.

"Huh? The rabbit from that time?"

She remembered it because it was the same voice she heard that day.

(Do you want the power to get out of here?)

Mary was hesitant; this seemed strange to her, so she confirmed something.

"H-Hey, you all see the same thing I do."

She pointed to the rabbit. All the girls said they only saw the ground. Mary thought she was crazy. She approached as she crouched down and spoke in a low voice.

"Are you real?"

(I'm as real as you. But no one but you, my disciple, can see me.)

"Disciple?"

Mary raised her voice a little. The rabbit continued speaking.

(That's right. My name is... it's very complicated. So call me whatever you want.)

"Umm. In that case, how about Glenda-chan?"

(Glenda is fine.)

The rabbit named Glenda told Mary how to get out of there.

(My disciple, from now on, you will be one of the Holy Disciples. I will bestow my blessing upon you; in the future, you will become the Saint of Kicks.)

"Huh? Kicks? That sounds terrible, I don't want to spread my legs so that no one sees my underwear."

(It doesn't matter what you say. You're my disciple, so wear pants or something to hide your underwear.)

"Huh? I don't want to~. My underwear is only for my boyfriend to see."

(Do you want to get out of here or not, girl!?)

"Yes, I want to..."

Mary replied, frightened by Glenda, who raised her voice. For some reason, there was a slight tremor when she got upset.

(Listen carefully. I selected you as my disciple because you have experience using your kicks. They're very weak, but you have potential. Therefore, I will tell you how to channel, even if it's a small part of your power, to break the bars.)

"Really?!"

(Listen carefully.)

Esther watched Mary, who seemed to be talking to the air. She took the opportunity to ask Rose.

"Hey, who's that girl? I recognize Julisis, but not that blonde."

"Oh. She's a guest my father brought."

"A lover?"

"Of course not. I'd like him to meet more women, but he doesn't. She came along with her family and other strange people to stay at our house; her boyfriend went to the palace today to get his knight title. My father is also going to help them find another house since the town where they lived was bought and demolished."

Esther then analyzed her words.

"Territory bought. Coming to the palace to receive a reward from the king. Huh? Isn't he the man who saved Princess Lyla?"

"The same one."

Esther realized:

(Then it makes some sense that all of us are here. This smells like a personal vendetta, and the only person I can think of who could do something like this against the daughter of a duke is...)

"Marquis Fredman!"

"Alright!"

Mary shouted as she stood up. She made a strange fighting pose while taking deep and relaxed breaths. She raised her leg and lowered it.

"Channel the inner power. Gather external energy in your leg. Visualize a target while preparing your leg. Your knee, your heel, your nerves, the sole of your leg, and even your toes must be synchronized with your eyes."

Rose saw Mary saying strange things, so she asked if she was okay.

"Mary, is something wrong? Or are you very—"

Then Mary screamed from the depths of her throat. Her leg turned white with light as it quickly approached the bars.

"Leg Technique! Lightning Kick!"

Mary's foot lightly touched the bars, and they exploded, being forcefully launched against the front wall, embedding themselves like stakes. All the girls were surprised, but no one knew what to say. Mary turned around and said:

"Alright. Let's escape."

She quickly took Julie's hand, who then took Rose's hand, and she grabbed Esther, who pulled Cloe.

"Hey, what did you just do?"

"Huh? I have no idea, just run."

Esther asked Mary about her technique, but she didn't know how to respond.

(Actually. I haven't seen Glenda-chan for a while. Could it be that the ghost bunny ran away?)

They went up the stairs, but had no idea where to flee. Then they reached an upper floor where they saw a bunch of corpses. They didn't understand what was happening, but they kept moving. They stopped because the wall to their side broke. A person was thrown. Once the dust settled, Mary saw the figure behind it. She was glad to recognize who it was.

"Cedric!"

"It is my great happiness to know that Mary-sama and her friends are safe."

"Cedric, how did you find us?"

"Well..."

Cedric didn't know how to respond. He tried to do so.

"I just heard your screams."

"...Huh?"

None of them understood how that was possible.

"There you are."

The front door opened, and two men entered. One of them was Aldrake, who was covered in blood.

"I'm surprised you're alive."

"So am I. If it weren't because I'm an expert at turning my bones into jelly, I'd be dead."

"Thanks for the info; I'll keep that in mind before killing you."

Cedric stopped before taking a step and looked at Aldrake's companion.

"Hey, are you saying that old man did all this?"

"That's right. That geezer came in from the roof and proceeded to break everything and kill everyone while interrogating a few."

"How pathetic you all are."

A man nearly three meters tall, with bronze skin, strange animal tattoos on his body, a shaved head, and monk robes, was standing in front of them.

"You're very pathetic, Aldrake. That's why I'm the strongest of the Eight. You can't do anything without me."

The monk introduced himself.

"I am Donner, better known as the Fist Saint and master of the Imperial Fist."

"Fist Saint?"

Mary was surprised to hear that name.

(Is he related in any way to Glenda-chan?)

Cedric stood in front of the girls and responded:

"It's a pleasure to meet you, but I'm not interested. My main reason for being here is to rescue these young ladies."

"If you want to live, I kindly ask you to leave."

Donner laughed as he took a fighting stance. He raised his fist and aimed directly at Cedric's chest.

"I don't care what a corpse has to say."

"Cedric!"

Mary shouted as she saw the old butler being thrown into the rubble. Donner stood in front of Mary and extended his hand.

"It seems they caught some good prey. My favorite food is blondes with big breasts, and you all fit that profile."

Mary tried to give him the same kick as before, but it didn't work. She hadn't done any of the necessary steps to make it happen. Donner's hand was getting closer, and a rock was thrown at his face. He grabbed it forcefully and saw Cedric standing up.

"You really messed up; not only do you disrespect me, you ruin my suit and say obscene things to my master's future lady."

"I've decided, I'll kill you using all my power."

Donner's face was expressionless, but then he smiled sinisterly as he tossed Mary aside.

"Sounds great, old man. I'll be completely serious with you."

The battles of that day were reaching their peak.

◇◇◇

"Hahaha! Come on, is that all you can do?"

Saltherine got angry with Alice for telling her truths she didn't want to hear. For that, she used her most powerful magic, level 7 magic.

Magic is ranked in 10 levels, with level 1 being the weakest and level 10 the strongest. Normal humans can only use up to level 1 magic at most. Apprentice mages without talent can only use up to level 2. Those with talent can use level 3 or higher. Level 4 is for those who can fight against at least a group of five people, while level 5 is the maximum most can reach, even experts. But level 6 is for those who are court magicians.

Saltherine is a high-level sorceress as she can use level 7 spells. She tried to reach level 8 but couldn't. She deduced that the maximum level talented humans can reach is level 7. She even went to the Academic City of the Alzer Empire to study, where the most outstanding mages barely reached level 6. She was proud to be special. That's why she couldn't tolerate this offense.

"What's wrong? Are you paralyzed with fear and just running away?"

As she said, Alice was only dodging the fireballs, rock pillars, and water dragons sent her way. Saltherine combined all her spells and attacked her with them.

"Try this and die."

"Advanced Magic! Five-Colored Deadly Snowflake!"

A massive magic circle with five colors formed around her, and different elemental lightning bolts shot toward Alice. It was a direct hit that made the place tremble.

"Hahaha. What do you think of the power of the second strongest of the Eight Knights? Did you know the real name of these knights is based on the Eight Kings of Greed? Well, I'm a descendant of one of them. The power of my lineage is unique! Hahaha."

Alice laughed maniacally, but suddenly her voice stopped making any sound. A magic circle sealed her mouth. Alice walked calmly toward her, mumbling.

"I expected to see some of the magic power from someone supposedly talented. It was disappointing."

She sighed in rejection of her opponent's weakness.

"I'll show you what high-level magic is. Don't expect to reach your 44 years now."

Alice was completely serious.

Let's move on to show the missing designs of the eight knights.

Those of the twins don't matter since they were filler.
