Kapitel 32: -

"V-Val—" he seemed to gulp the air, distraught as he blinked. His mouth opened and closed as if he wanted to tell her something. "The Alphas that approached you yesterday placed you in a time stop?" He inhaled deeply as if he tried to calm down, words lost in his throat. She stared at him, and he only seemed to grow increasingly distraught.

"Yeah?" she raised a brow, then shrugged. "Hakon can't be just as lawless as my planet." She sighed, folded her arms, tucking her head against the desk. "Damn. I can't believe I left like some sheep. I should have screamed and raised hell on this planet. But I tucked my tail behind my legs and left the moment I saw blood." She closed her eyes, fisted her hair. "I'm an idiot."

"You can't," he said, shook his head so hard he seemed almost frightened.

"So…" she squinted at him. "The police are corrupted?"

"Just don't. They—" he licked his lips. "You should read the newspaper."

"I do?" she gave him a look, swiped up the tab for him. It flickered danced to the front cover for the breaking news. The title ran red, glitching softly. 'Seirios defeats an army! Space monsters attack planet 43, but our future emperors continue to save millions. The princes of Eros destroy final Hive star, ending another dangerous predator species.' She squinted at the video, of the exploding star as a fleet of spaceships soared across the galaxy. "What am I looking at?"

Theo opened his mouth, closed it. "You might want to research—" he paused, glanced around. "Shit, I can't speak of them here." Theo sighed a mumble on his lips. "Fine, the police are corrupted."

"I understand," she nodded. "They're busy with intergalactic warfare."

"They," he pursed his lips, "are! I suppose. They won't have time for petty school affairs. And student rivalry."

"That was not—"

"Rue, I told you aliens from planets below five are above the law. You can't offend everyone you meet. You're lucky they let you off with just cuts with that attitude. If I were you, I'd shut up, and play safe." He scowled with a snap. "You're expendable to them."

"And they are indispensable?" She scoffed. "Valuable assets to the nation? Espers with a bright young future ahead of them which means their reputation can't be ruined?" She had to restrain the roll of her eyes. "I was hurt."

"They're seniors, with a lot more experience. You're—no—we're useless guides." He gave her a dirty look. "You need to study harder." He breathed, seemed almost constipated with his anger. "A lot harder!" He exhaled, rage pink in his cheeks. "And you need to read everything."

"Fine," she raised her hands, just as Professor Ryo continued the class with a wave of his hands. "Fine," she whispered, folding her arms. "You're so touchy today." She grouched, mood growing worse with his attitude. "I thought you were on my side."

"I hate it when you aren't being careful!" he hissed back. "l could strangle you. Truly, you'll get me killed too. But!" He sighed, ran a hand through his curls. "I don't want to see you hurt. The next time we see them, let me do the talking. Don't say a word." This had her paling, the sadness in his voice a sobering punch to the gut.

"I'm sorry," she sighed, sucked on her lower lip. "It was different, Valentino used to be my student. I taught him the basics." She told him with a shrug. "The banter was normal. We knew each other." She went quiet at that, humming softly.

"Acquaintances?"

She pondered this, winced at the blurred lines. "No, we were a closer than that." He did always dream of sucking her dick. "Not so much now, because of a misunderstanding. I haven't seen him in two years. I guess he held a grudge."

"Hm," Theo nodded, eyes turning towards the screen ending their conversation. Rue pinched the bridge of her nose, fighting sleep as she cracked another yawn. Theory was all that they covered for now, and she squinted at the board. Her device slipping with babbling notes from her exhaustion, her stylus sloppy as she penned down the information.

'Guides can absorb the access energy from a Rampaging Espers during intercourse. If highly powerful and well-matched, Guides may even receive and harness the powers of an Esper. This will lead to a brief period of strength that will allow for the survival of the guiding.

This power was best absorbed via semen and that is the reason why coitus is necessary for most guiding.'

Rue had snorted at the imagery that later showed on screen, a sudden touch into sexual techniques that could wring an esper dry—a plethora of pornography. It had the Alphas smirking, boys that laughed and almost giggled at the screen. But Rue didn't need to know the millions of ways one could suck out cum from a hard dick. Or how one should douche one's ass with the latest technology. There was no way in hell she would be washing out her asshole for the next crazed Alpha on her to-do list.

So, she turned back to her device, multitasked and searched for her next job. She supposed she could teach a few kids remotely—she made a face. Rue had the experience under her belt. And there was a fast-food restaurant in Hakon that needed people. If she was lucky, they'd give her a free meal each day. And she could bring home the stale buns for supper. She squinted and paper was smacked against her head, she glanced up wincing with a scowl.

"Distracted?" Professor Ryo had raised a brow, cocked a hip to the side, and she cursed. The students beside her turned to stare. "Meet me after class, Rue."

"But sir, I was just—" He gave her a look, walking forward, continuing the lecture. Shit. Rue sighed, head in her arms. She turned mournfully at Theo, a pout on her lips. "Do you think I should lodge my complaints to the professor?"

"What for?" Theo whispered back with a sigh. "You're going to get me punished too."

"The Alphas that fucked up my arms?"

"How many times do I have to tell you—" Theo hissed then stopped himself with a glare that he shot her way. "He won't help you. In fact, he might even tell them about your complaint, you idiot." She blinked at his words, squinting.

"What? Why?"

"For the love of God," he hissed, "this is why I hate how private and yet public they are. They're royalty." He put out simply. "There, happy? I was ordered not to speak of their existence, and you were there when that happened. You should know."

"How?" she snorted, then her eyes widened. "Altair placed his finger on his lip! Was that it?"

"You daft, broken-nose idiot," Theo hissed, "it was a direct order from an Alpha stronger than us all combined. He was," he gestured frantically, "perfuming his orders. His aura was crushing us both. Couldn't you feel it at the very least? The strength of his power?"

"Uh," she blinked, "no?"

"I'm—" he sighed, turned to the board. "Rest in peace."

"Hey!"

"Rue!" Professor Ryo called from the front. "Seriously?"

She sank into her seat, shaking her head. Class ended quickly after, and she slung her bag over her shoulders, stood waiting at the desk. Theo paused before her, purple skin vibrating and transforming into an angry shade.

"Don't you dare," he warned. "You'll get us both in trouble."

"I'll protect your ass, don't worry about it."

"Rue!" He proclaimed, and she waved at him, gesturing for him to leave.

"I'll text you, go eat with your mates." He paused, strode forward giving one last scathing look at her from the door. "Go!" The professor turned to her now, a smile on his lips as the last student left. The door closed and quiet returned, ringing softly in her ears. She cleared her throat.

"Sorry," she spoke quickly, hands in her hair. Her brain running through her well-crafted apology speech. "I was distracted. I've—"

"I've got a job for you," he interrupted her, and she paused. "A lab assistant for a class that's for higher level guiding. We need people to help sometimes when things get rough. I believe you will be a good match with your skills." He explained, papers pulled from his case. He handed her the contract. And Rue scrutinised the texture, finding it strange that he continued to use medieval technology. Probably, just for the aesthetics.

"But I'm—"

"It's 10,000 credits per session. 50,000 depending on the situation." He smoothed out the folds with a smile, a pen in his hand. "It's quick money, once a week, sometimes more. We do need the manpower with the conflict going on. Someone to help the professionals with simple tasks. Surely better than the 100 credits you'll earn at a burger stand. Am I right?" He'd seen her screen.

Rue gawked at him then cleared her throat. "Professor, why me?"

There was a smile on his lips, a brilliant one that stretched far too big and far too bright. "You're ahead of the class. And potentially immune to poseidons." He blinked, eyes flashing a bright silver. "I'm sure there will be no problems?" Rue opened her mouth, then closed it.

"None at all, I'll be honoured to take the job."

When she left the theatre, her phone sang. A purr that vibrated against her ass. She pulled the device free—an old ancient dinosaur that had none of the formless nature of its predecessors. Theo's name flashed across the screen.

Theo: There's a party tonight. Free food. I'll introduce you to my mates.

Perfect.
