Kapitel 23: A New Day
"Look out!!" The sound of Kunais being thrown could be heard, and Iruka immediately pushed Naruto away.
Yasui was already aware of Mizuki's presence, and he jumped out of the way, avoiding all of the kunai.
"I see that you found our little hideaway, Iruka." Mizuki appeared on a tree branch with two massive shurikens on his back.
"So that's how it is!" Iruka had a eureka moment, and he figured everything out.
The conversation continued with Iruka and Mizuki bickering back and forth, trying to get Naruto to believe them. Mizuki wanted to trick Naruto into giving him the scroll, and Iruka wanted Naruto to understand the truth of the matter.
After Mizuki explained to Naruto about the nine-tailed fox inside of him, Naruto thought back to all of his experiences in the past twelve years of his life. It's no wonder that he had been treated so badly! It's no wonder!
"DIE, NARUTO!" Mizuki equipped a large shuriken and threw it at Naruto.
Naruto was in a daze due to Mizuki revealing the truth behind his existence, and he wasn't able to dodge the shuriken. So, Iruka had to force himself to come forward and block the Shuriken for Naruto.
"W-why?" Naruto asked with a tortured face.
"It's…It's because we're the same. When my parents died, nobody seemed to care. They didn't have time for me. They just forgot I was there. My grades dropped, and I became the class clown. I just… wanted them to see me and know my name. The attention at school wasn't enough, so I did many crazy things one after another. And, I had to pay for it. It was hard… I know that's how you feel, Naruto. You feel lonely and it hurts inside, and I could've been there for you more. I let you down, I'm sorry. No one should have to suffer that much, and no one should be alone like that." Iruka confessed while his tears dropped onto Naruto's face. [A/N: Came directly from the canon, but it's essential for the world I want to create.]
"HAHAHA! Don't make me laugh! Iruka always hated you, Naruto! He was orphaned because the nine-tailed fox killed his parents, and that beast is inside of you! He will do anything to get that scroll away from you!" Mizuki didn't let Iruka's emotional words get to naruto and tried to convince him otherwise.
Naruto struggled out of Iruka's cover, and he scooched back, getting ready to run away with the scroll. He didn't know who to believe! Should he believe in Iruka? Or should he believe in Mizuki? Regardless, he felt that his existence in the village didn't matter.
"You're wrong, Mizuki! Iruka Sensei may be scared of the nine-tailed fox, but it's a different story when it comes to Naruto!" Yasui's loud holler got Mizuki's attention.
"AH!?" Mizuki looked over at Yasui with a disgusted face. He didn't account for there being an Uchiha kid here.
"Yasui is right, Naruto. I… I am afraid of the nine tails inside of you, but I am not afraid of you. You're someone who is strong, even if nobody believed in you. You're someone who makes the village lively…You're…"
"NARUTO UZUMAKI OF THE VILLAGE HIDDEN IN THE LEAVES!" Yasui took the words right out of Iruka's mouth and relayed them to Naruto before he could run away. He had always wanted to use the talk-no-jutsu.
Naruto cried once he heard Yasui saying that he and Iruka think of him as a notable person in the hidden leaf village.
It's then that he recalled all the times he spent with Yasui. After their meeting that one night in front of Ichiraku ramen, they had become friends as Yasui said. At first, Yasui didn't have money and he had to spend his allowance to let Yasui eat some food.
But after that, Yasui seemed to have made money, and he would treat him to eat for free every single time. Even when he was very hungry, and he did not have money to eat at Ichiraku ramen, Yasui would always find him and invite him to eat.
There's also a beautiful sister that's always by Yasui's side that would treat him like a relative. Neither of them had eyes of hatred that the other villagers gave him.
Iruka too… it seems that Iruka never treated him badly despite his background. In fact, he was saved once by Iruka from the kunoichi spies way back then.
"DIE, BRAT!" Mizuki couldn't stand being a side character and he threw his last large shuriken at Yasui, hoping to kill the new ninja graduate.
Yasui activated his two tomoe Sharingan and slightly moved away from the large shuriken's trajectory. He then used its force and redirected it right back to Mizuki, destroying the tree that he was standing on.
The tree broke apart, and Mizuki fell to the ground, taken off guard. He stared at those glowing red eyes from Yasui, and shivers slithered down his back! Those eyes! Those detestable Uchiha eyes! They still exist!
"Now, Naruto! Show Iruka Sensei all of your hard work!" Yasui kept his eyes on Mizuki to prevent him from escaping, and he made a gesture to Naruto.
Naruto wiped away his tears, and he got out from Iruka's protection, standing firm on his own.
He took off the scroll and glowered at Mizuki: "Mizuki! If you ever lay a hand on the people that I care for, I will KILL YOU!"
"Such arrogant words! I can completely destroy you with a single move!" Mizuki stood up and made a fist at Naruto who stood in front of him.
"Take your best shot, fool! I'll give it back to you a thousandfold!"
"LET'S SEE YOU TRY, NINE-TAILED FOX!"
"MULTI SHADOW CLONE JUTSU!!" Naruto made the shadow clone hand seal and an amazing sight appeared in the forest… That sight… is a thousand Narutos, standing on the ground and tree branches.
Iruka was awed at the sight of the shadow clones. Those were no illusionary clones. They were solid clones that could fight! Iruka watched as the clones pummeled Mizuki one after another, turning his face into a pig.

"Haha. Sorry, I kinda got carried away. Are you okay, Iruka sensei?" Naruto apologized as he turned to Iruka and Yasui. Mizuki twitched on the forest floor, unable to move a muscle after being beaten up by a thousand Narutos.
"Heh. Yeah…" Iruka smirked after taking the large shuriken out of himself. Fortunately, the Shuriken did not damage any of his vital organs.
He stared at Naruto, and he began to believe that Naruto's dream of becoming a Hokage is achievable. He also glanced at Yasui, feeling proud that he was the teacher of such a great ninja.
"Good job, Naruto! You did it!" Yasui came up to Naruto and pumped his fist out. He was truly glad that Naruto found the same saving grace as he did in the canon.
"It's all thanks to you and Iruka sensei!" Naruto's bright smile once again appeared on his face, and he bumped Yasui's fist.
"Naruto, come here a minute… I have something that I want to give you." Iruka motioned for Naruto to come closer.
Yasui knew that Iruka is going to give his headband to Naruto.
He looked up at the sky through the waving forest leaves. The beautiful sunrise painted the sky with a colorful pink and orange. The sun's emerging rays spread out in all directions, illuminating the world with its warm, golden light.
The wispy white clouds also dotted the sky, reflecting the vibrant colors of the sunrise.
Standing in the forest, Yasui felt a soft, morning breeze rushing past his face, and the birds began to sing their morning songs.
Yes, it's the smell of the fresh morning air, and it's the start of a new day.
