The night outside the car window was deep and thick, and the streetlights on both sides of the road flickered on and off, casting light on Nian Yuyu's delicate profile.

Her mind, however, was in complete disarray.

By the time the car stopped, Nian Yuyu was still confused, wanting to think more, yet afraid of overthinking.

"We're here," Chu You said, releasing the handbrake and turning to look at Nian Yuyu. The dim light inside the car cast enigmatic shadows in his eyes.

Nian Yuyu snapped back to reality and looked out the window to see the flashing neon signs of various stores on the mall's exterior wall.

This was the closest mall to the neighborhood where they both lived, and the restaurant she had chosen was inside.

"Okay," she said, unbuckling her seatbelt.
