Kapitel 24: Chapter Twenty Four
"Yes, love is a waste of time but maybe ladies are dangerous" he thought but "Smoking is more dangerous" his subconscious added as he brought out a pack of cigarettes.
"No, I can't smoke again" he said to himself and as he was about returning it to his pocket, someone suddenly grabbed it from him.
He looked up and it turned out to be her, Lovina
"You again?" He said and she sat in front of him
"Smoking causes cancer, smoking kills" she said rolling her eyes at him.
"I know, but life is short itself" he replied and she giggled.
"You're insane I just realized that now" she said, giving him some funny looks.
*What did you just say?" Albert asked
"I just said that you're insane and foolish. I can't believe you're the deputy CEO of Peak Empire with your undergrown brain" she replied simply.
"Young lady, I'm in a good mood tonight else you'd have been crumbled by now" Albert said.
"What, will you hit me?" Lovina asked standing up and before Albert realized, she raised her leg to his face but luckily he shifted back so it just greased his face as she brought her leg down
"You got lucky" she said sitting down again and Albert still had a look of shock on his face.
"Are you even a girl?" He asked because she doesn't behave like one to him.
"Well don't you have eyes? I have boobs but maybe you're too blind to see" she said touching her boobs
"How can you do that in front of a guy?" Albert said, looking away.
"Don't tell me you're getting turned on already because I dislike and hate guys who can't control themselves" she said and he laughed.
"You're full of drama aren't you?" Albert asked but she took his alcohol and drank everything in the cup
"I know" she replied
"Lovina" he called
"Vina for short" she replied
"Why do you steal? I mean you look very innocent to do something that bad" he said but she smiled sadly.
"You know nothing do you? I can't tell you my life story yet, but maybe next time. Thanks for letting me have your drink and something else" she said and left the bar.
"She has a sad story?" Albert said standing up
"Well, it time to leave" he whispered to himself and he wanted to pay the bar man but couldn't find his wallet.
"Wait" Albert said remembering when Lovina said "thanks for letting me have your drink and something else"
"Lovina" He called, banging his fist angrily on the table.
The Next day, Madam Sylvia parked the car behind the skyscraper and went in with Valerie taking the backdoor.
"Where's this place?" Valerie asked because she had no idea about what they were doing there but Madam Sylvia refused to answer her as she entered the elevator and Valerie followed as
the elevator took them to the topmost floor.
"This is one of my late husband's building before he died, this building was supposed to be his second company but unfortunately, he died before he could complete it and
I told my sons not to touch it because I have plans of selling it someday" Madam Sylvia said
"Then why are we here?" Valerie asked as they both stood on top of the stairs
"There are about one thousand stairs before you get downstairs if you decide to use the stairs" Madam Sylvia said with an evil smile.
Suddenly, she brought out her phone and sent a text message across to Ruby
"I've messaged the prey, let's wait and see how things play out my way" Madam Sylvia said laughing dangerously.
That same day, Richard was about leaving the house due to a conference been held at the office and Ruby was also.prepared to go to the hospital.
"I'm sorry I should have driven you to the hospital but you know the conference has started already and I can't miss it" Richard said coming out of the house with Ruby in the morning.
"You don't have to worry about me, the driver will take me there" she replied then he hugged her and faced the driver
"Go easy on the way please" he said
"Sure sir" he replied kissing Ruby on the lips and ensured she entered the car and the driver moved the car before he entered his own car and drove off to work.
"When last did you menstruate?* The female doctor asked Ruby when she arrived the hospital after observing her eyeballs and palm
"Last two months, I thought it's just because of irregularities and I work too much you know" she replied but the doctor smiled.
"I don't think so madam" she replied before taking Ruby to the lab and her blood sample was taken for test.
She sat at the reception, waiting for the results and In about ten minutes, the doctor herself came out with a written result.
"Am I sick, Is it malaria?" She asked
"Not at all, madam you're pregnant" she replied and Ruby's eyes widened
" No you can't be serious, like I'm carrying a baby in my stomach right now? " She said and the doctor nodded, handing her the result.
"Make sure to avoid stress from now on, avoid anything that'll hurt your baby, eat lots of fruits and drink enough water and don't forget to eat nutritious foods too" the doctor said while
Ruby jumped for joy.
"Richard, we're becoming parents very soon, Oh my God!" She screamed, walking out of the hospital in joy and she wanted calling Richard.
"No, it won't be a good thing to disturb him during conference" she thought and was about to put her phone back in her bag when a message popped.
She checked but it was from an unknown number
*If you wish to know the people who killed your parents twelve years ago, come to the Rockview opposite the research institute at bank road right now and come to the topmost floor*
Her whole body vibrated vehemently
"What?
The person who killed my parents?" She thought, shaking visibly and she quickly boarded a cab, forgetting she came with a driver.
"Rockview opposite the research institute at bank road" she said and the cab driver obeyed and took her there.
When they arrived, she got down from the car and entered hurriedly, entered the elevator and it took her to the topmost floor but to her surprise, She came out of the elevator and came face to face with Madam Sylvia and Valerie, standing at the top of the stairs then she walked slowly towards them
"Surprise?" Madam Sylvia said with a wicked smile
"Madam Sylvia, you killed my parents?" Ruby said stopping in front of her
"Yes, I did even though it was a mistake but I don't regret killing the parents of a gold digger like you" Madam Sylvia replied
"Madam Sylvia" Ruby called still in shock
"You must have probably heard I killed my own mother, yes it's true, I killed her because she was always nagging and telling me what to do and i hated her for that so I killed her.
I thought of a way to dispose her corpse to avoid suspicions, then truck came to my mind, I carried her in the truck and was going to bury her that rainy night when I ran into your parents on the road, yes I killed them but I'm not sorry" Madam Sylvia said and
even Valerie shivered at the devil standing beside her right now and Ruby was already crying
"Oh look, she's crying but I guess it'll be your last because you're ending today" Madam Sylvia said.
"Madam Sylvia, you're an animal, a beast.
How could you be so wicked and heartless " Ruby yelled painfully and rushed towards Madam Sylvia trying to grab her by her blouse but Madam Sylvia pushed her hard which made her loose balance and she fell on the stairs Immediately and began to roll down the one thousand stairs.
Valerie freezed but Madam Sylvia laughed out loud
"So like I was saying, the stairs is one thousand, and it'll take about fourty minutes before she'll roll to the base and unless its witchcraft, she will never survive it because the uncompleted stair rods would have pierced through her" Madam Sylvia said and laughed loudly again.
She brought out a cigarette from her bag and smoked after lightening it.
"Let's go" she said to Valerie leading the way out as they climbed the elevator and it took them back downstairs, they went out of the building through the backdoor again.
They got into the car and Madam Sylvia drove
"Goodbye Ruby" she said with another loud laugh.
Richard came out of the conference room with Albert and stretched himself lightly
"Where's your secretary? or should I say your Baby?" Albert asked Richard.
"She won't be coming today because she went for a test in the hospital, I'm wondering why she hasn't called because she should be done with it by now" Richard replied.
"Maybe we're expecting a baby soon" Albert said
"It'll be a great news if it's like that. Being a father has always been one of my greatest dreams" Richard replied, dialling Ruby's line
"The red devil wasn't in the conference today" Albert said.
"Well, there she is" Richard said gesturing at Madam Sylvia who just came out of the elevator with Valerie who looks unsettled some how as they entered their office.
"Ruby's line is switched off" Richard said suspiciously
"Stop getting worried, maybe it's out of battery" Albert said
"No Albert, it can't be. She had a full battery this morning" Richard replied
"Are you Sure?"
"Too sure Albert, I'm very sure" Richard replied.
Janet was on her way to Ruby's office when she ran into them
"Has Ruby called you?" Richard asked
" No her line is switched off" Janet replied
"Albert this is not right" Richard said going inside the elevator already with Albert following him and Janet stood dumbfounded.
They got down and hopped into the car quickly and Richard drove home but she wasn't at home either
"Albert what's happening, Ruby's not here as well" Richard said shakily
"Let's go check the hospital" Albert suggested
"Oh, the driver" Richard said and dialled the driver's number but it was switched off as well
" My God" Richard said, almost throwing his phone out through the window.
They got to the hospital and met the driver in the car outside the hospital
"Hey, where's Ruby?" Richard asked
"Oga, madam has been inside since morning, she hasn't come out" he replied and it seemed to calm Richard down a bit as he walked into the hospital with Albert.
Albert and Richard went inside the hospital to confirm from the doctor or nurse concerning Ruby.
"She has left this hospital since we finished running her tests since morning, she's pregnant" the doctor replied
"Seriously, Ruby is pregnant?" Richard asked joyously
"I knew it" Albert said
"But she left here Immediately I gave her the results, about two hours ago" the doctor said
"Really, Two hours? and she's nowhere to be found" Albert said
"What?" The doctor screamed in surprise.
"Yes, we can't find her" Richard said obviously shaking
"I really don't know what to say about this" the doctor replied and they both went out of the hospital worriedly
"Albert, just help me look for her, nothing must happen to her and our baby, nothing must happen to them" Richard said, holding unto Albert's collar
"Calm down bro, we'll find her but let's contact the cops first" Albert said and brought out his phone.
He informed the police about it and the search for her began immediately
"What do I do?" Richard asked, leaning on the car
"We'll find her, let's just make a suspect list already, but I think the list will only contain two people" Albert said
"Valerie and Madam Sylvia" they both chorused.
"And now you'll have my son because Ruby is gone" Madam Sylvia said sitting in front of Valerie's office
"Thanks you Madam Sylvia, Valerie stammered.
"Look how you're shaking I don't want a weakling for a daughter in-law, and I don't bite, I only kill but I only kill those who try to be an hindrance" she said standing up
"So daughter in-law, if anyone asks where we were during the conference, just say we went to shop at the mall together, and you dare not open your mouth to tell anyone what I did to that bitch" Madam Sylvia said, holding Valerie's shoulder tight
"Yes ma'am" she replied shakily.
"Good*
"Ruby is missing?" Janet said standing up from her desk and Julius came in at that time
"Yes Janet, I don't know what to do. The doctor confirmed that her test results shows positive which means she's two months pregnant" Richard replied on phone.
"Oh my God, and now my friend is missing? No, I can't believe this it's Impossible" Janet said
"She's really missing Janet, I don't want anything to happen to her and our baby, I'm so down and I miss her already" Richard said
"Where precisely are you guys?" She asked
"Police station" he replied and Janet hung up
"Did I just hear you say Ruby is nowhere to be found?" Julius asked.
"Of course, let's go to the police station" she replied leading the way out
They got to the station and met Albert and Richard who was sprawled dejectedly on a chair, not saying a thing and Albert was busy speaking with one of the cops
"The suspects you mentioned have been summoned to this station for interrogation" the cop replied and not long after, Madam Sylvia came into the station with Valerie, looking unconcerned.
She sat while Valerie stood behind her and Albert studied Valerie's facial expression once again and it was a mixture of fear and anxiety.
"Thanks for coming madam but how are you related to the missing lady?" A cop asked
"I'm not in any way related to her" she replied bluntly.
"Isn't she your son's wife to be?" The interrogator asked
"I don't know, all I know is that I'm not in support of their relationship" Madam Sylvia replied
"Where were you two hours ago?"
"At the mall not far from my empire, I went there with Valerie here to shop because she's my secretary and the girl I want for my son" Madam Sylvia replied.
"Have you by any chance seen miss Ruby this morning?" A cop asked
"Why would I see her, I never saw her" she replied and stood firm.
"I guess I've answered your question can I go?" She said
"Sure madam and thanks for honouring our invitation" the interrogator said and Madam Sylvia left with Valerie.
Almost immediately, a man rushed into the police station
"I saw the announcement on TV about the missing girl. I carried her in my cab this morning to the uncompleted Rockview building opposite the research institute at bank road.
