"How have you been my dear?" Nessa asked her daughter as both Alex and David talked, "I've been great, sorry we haven't been able to call or come over as always. The kids missed you but you know, things have been happening none stop." Hazel inclined. "It's alright dear, I know you've all been so busy we have too, so it's a good thing they didn't come." Nessa smiled to see her daughter smile back.
"So how are my babies?" "They should be asleep now." "That's alright."
"Aunty, Hazel." Both mother and daughter turned to welcome Maya who just stepped in with Carlos. "Carlos, what's up with that face?" Nessa asked, from the looks of things the couple just argued. It is usually easy for the woman to cover it up with makeup and smile, but the men don't know how to do that.
"Nothing much, I'll see you guys later." He said and walked away, "Official first fight?" Hazel asked chuckling. "It's not the first time, but this time it's pretty serious we might get a divorce." Maya let out with a sigh, "And did he agree?" Asked curious Hazel.
"Of course he did, why wouldn't he?" "Oh, I envy you." "Hazel!" Maria called. "Mum let us be we're having a really important conversation, not all men can be like Dad." She returned her gaze to Maya and Nessa had to leave the two to talk to Maria and her strangely newfound friend.
"I and Alex divorced sometime this year." "So why are you two still together?" "Cause he remarried me on his own terms and against my will. He threatened to take my kids away." "But you're their mother, you're rich also, besides they're still toddlers which means they need their mother more."
"Tell that to Alexander, the man who thinks he's above the law in this country." She sighed frustratedly, "You're making him sound really hot and manly, you know how we women love bad guys and even the dangerous one's more." They both chuckled. "And it's so annoying that no matter how hard I try, I can't just stop loving that badass." They smiled again. "Settle whatever it is you have with Carlos, you have a son together already."
Hazel peeked at the man in a conversation with her father, it didn't take long for those black eyes to meet hers and she quickly averted her gaze. He's stayed longer than he used to which was not a bad thing.
Just as Hazel and Maya talked some more, they noticed how the hall suddenly turned quiet and decided to see what was happening, that was when they saw a familiar figure walk in.
Beverly's head was raised high, as she stepped in elegantly, the smile on her face was unending just as her beauty never faded. She loved the attention on her, nothing in this world measured up to the astonished looks on the entire Wilson family's faces. It was always fun shaming your enemies and people who thought they could break you and destroy you. All she did was give a love that was never reciprocated even while pregnant.
She peeked around for a slight possibility of seeing Hazel's so-called kids but found nothing. Of course, what would three years old kids be doing at an engagement party? She would see them another time anyways, right now all she had to do was have fun.
The Wilson's are the worst people anyone could ever wish to meet, yes they're good, but only to those, they could benefit from. They messed with her, toiled with her, made her lose her sanity for years...
On peeking through the crowd in the ballroom, her eyes fell the one man standing at a corner with another which made her heart skip a bit but that nervousness was quickly turned into anger when she saw a woman standing next to him. The only thing Beverly wanted at that moment was to place her six feet beneath the ground where she belonged.
"Hello, mother." She walked up to Maria who has not stopped gaping at her with a smile. "You're fine now? You look much better now." Maria complemented to see Beverly frown slightly. Maybe she made a mistake allowing Hazel to handle the party, how could she forget she was related to the Balowe's. That name was like poison to the Wilsons, that's why they swore not to get attached to the bearers of that name anymore.
"You're not looking so bad yourself, aging gracefully as you should. I'm happy my mother didn't stay long to experience it." She said to see the slight frown on Maria's face.
Leaving Maria to stand alone, she walked up to the couple of the night, Avery getting married to Falcon was the most wonderful thing ever. She has always been a little clumsy girl that acts so tough yet could not hurt a fly. "Congratulations on your marriage Avery, I'm happy to finally see you're straight like the rest of us." She said handing a gift over to her.
"I'm also very happy to see you, Bev, when did you get back from the mental hospital?" Avery asked politely. "Hmm, a few weeks ago, anyway, I've got a gift for you." Beverly presented fhe little box in her hands to Avery. "Oh Maria, who is that beautiful lady?" Agartha asked when Beverly walked passed them, "She's a Balowe." "Wasn't she the one who said something on the news against us a few years back? The one that was pregnant for your Alex?" She narrowed her eyes at the woman.
"Oh, so you remembered." Agartha trudged away from Maria's side and headed for the daughter-in-law of the Wilson's family. She already did not like Hazel for no just reason and was ready to find fault in anything she did.
.
.
I was certain I didn't invite her over so who would have? The look of disappointment that lurked around mother's face said it all. They were all not pleased at her arrival, but I still couldn't think of who had invited her here knowing all of her revenge plans with the family. Beverly is a pretentious person, which only I and Carie could see through her.
Her fake smile throughout the party irked me, but I was sure that wasn't the only reason I disliked her. Being Alex's ex and first love made me somehow jealous, even if he had nothing to do with her anymore. But it was surprising she never glanced at him throughout the party not even once.
We all entertained the guests and avoided drama at the party, from the look of things, it seems everyone had fun even if Alex left me all alone again. At least he's learning to stay longer at parties, unlike before when he never gets to show up. "Congratulations Hazel for being the first person to throw the lamest party in the history of the Wilsons. This is why I said a local girl should be allowed to marry a prince" Aunt Agartha walked up to me, here I thought there was not going to be any drama I guess I judged quickly.
"I'm still learning aunt, next time would be perfect." "Yes dear, Beverly has done nothing to ruin the party so it's all good. Thank you for the best job, you'd be handling most huge parties from now on, anyway, our end-of-year Gala is coming up soon we all need to prepare." Mother smiled at me before walking away. She's the best mother-in-law any daughter-in-law would ask of.
I stayed up saying goodbye to the guests as they all left one after another, it's been a really long party and I was already exhausted from everything. But I was glad everyone had a great time. I stepped back into the room that already held Alex who was already sleeping on the bed. I took a long warm bath to lose my tensed muscles, I stepped out of the bathroom minutes later and hopped on the bed.
No one told me throwing a party was this exhausting especially when your husband only decided to support you financially. "You're done with the party?" "You're awake?" He chuckled. "Yes, the moment you stepped in."
"Yes, the party's over, thanks for being a very supportive husband." I said sarcastically and backed him on the bed, "And my sweet wife is upset with me again, I'm sorry if I did something wrong, darling." Goosebumps crept on my skin the moment he got close to me. His fingers tracing my shoulders to fingers made me shiver. "Hmm, you smell so good." I heard him say only to feel his breath on my neck.
"Your muscles are tensed baby, do you need a massage?" I heard his deep seductive voice that caused the heat between my legs. I rubbed my thighs concurrently trying to ease the heat, but it felt like that action only rekindled it more. "It's late Alex stop seducing me on purpose it's not fair."
"If it's not you, it's no one else. It's been months since I last touched you, I don't think I can wait any longer..."
