"Pucho just informed me about your arrival!" Carlos had a decent smile on his face as he got to the lounge. But Berverly was not dumb to not know he was mocking her. She rolled her eyes at his words. She still couldn't tell why she was here too, aside Alex, she knew Carlos loved her genuinely, but she's just not ready to let Alex go.
"I said I won't be here ever again, but here I am!" She smiled back. The smile on Carlos face didn't drop as he stired at her. This woman, the one woman that made him cut ties with his cousin cause he was so inlove with her. But she's rejected him countless times no matter how many times he's proved how much he adores her.
It was only the week to their wedding that Berverly informed him, about their marriage being just a means to get Alex back but since it didn't work. She called off their wedding.
She never called to know how he felt cause about her actions. Even after confessing multiple times of how much he loved her, she still turned a blind eye to his feelings.
"Why are you here?" Carlos asked calmly. "Why else? To rest my brain from everything going on!" She placed her head backwards to relax on the couch. "How are you? The last time we talked was at my cousin's engagement party!"
"I'm fine Carlos, just hug me hmm? I really need it right now!"
She wanted to feel his arms around her as old times. It's not like she doesn't like Carlos, she does, but each time her feelings develops to something more than like towards him, she kills it. At least that's what she thinks. Carlos didn't hesitate to hug the queen of his world.
Berverly breath in deeply inhaling his scent as she was in his warm embrace. Carlos felt like home even if she lies to herself. She was just too scared to loose Alex, or too greedy to let him go. Carlos stroke her hair backwards trying to calm her down.
He knew how hot tempered she was, that was one of the many qualities he loved about her, her determination was also at it's peek. But he only hoped, she'd find out about her mistakes and correct it soon, before it's too late.
"Come on let's drink together!" Carlos proposed and Berverly obliged to his proposal. "They got to the bar and he brought out their favorite liquid. Carlos was good at mixing drinks very well, so he knew what she liked.
"Here taste this, it's my recent discovery!" He gave a glass of the liquid to her and she took it. "Hmm!" She sipped the air after a sip. "What do you think, is it good?" "You still haven't changed have you? This is the best I've tasted so far!" She smiled, consuming all in one go.
"That's really strong, you shouldn't consume much. I want you sane!" He advised. "Bullshit, did you forget so easily how strong my head is!" She asked slightly irritated. After some time Berverly felt her head turning heavy and she could no longer see clearly. She tried to stay sane but couldn't, and she just didn't know when she fell asleep.
That was enough proof that she was getting high. "That should be enough drink for one night!" He laughed at the woman that just argued about having a stamina for handling his drink.
If he could get the almighty Benson drunk, then there was no one he could not get drunk. Benson was the only person Carlos has seen not getting drunk, no matter the bottles of vodka and beer his drinks. But on that faithful night, his mixture got Ben drunk in two shots.
Carlos dropped his drink and carried the sleeping figure beside him to her room, as he ordered the maids to help her change into new clothes.
It was now a day to my wedding, with everything I've practiced, it seems my anxiety hasn't gone at all. "If you're this scared, there are some anti anxiety drugs you an take to calm your nerves before the day!" Carie proposed. "Thought those drugs were addictive?" I asked.
I've actually heard stuff's about those drugs back in college, most people took them when they had presentations or other stuff's that required large audience. I was a fool thinking most of them were confident, even if some are genuinely confident.
But I could still remember how addictive the drugs turned out to be. They depended on the drugs for whatever they were doing.
Most people abuse the drugs, especially when they're going on an interview. "I took it once too, but my body was immune to it. It didn't work on me!" Carie said with a smile. Which left me wondering what other crazy she did in college.
We got out of the mansion and stroded to the van. This time we didn't make the same mistake of leaving late to arrive in NYC late at night. The chauffeur drove out of the mansion heading to the airport. I may not have not achieved my plans of exploring Dubai the way I wanted to but I would definitely be back to explore.
I stared out the glass, admiring the city, actually, I was trying to get my mind off the wedding which was in a day. A lot were to happen, I didn't know which one I was ready for. The wedding ceremony was actually the least of my problems.
My family reunion was my major worry right then, no matter how long I've longed to see my mum and Aunt, I just didn't know how to face them again. It's been months since I last saw them, I couldn't think of how much aunt Amelia would want to scold me.
We arrived at the jet terminal and got into the jet heading straight to NYC. Everyone in the jet were lost in their thoughts, no matter how much money they had, they still had their little problems.
From the little thing Carie told me, Avery was gay and she was finding it hard to tell her family about her girlfriend. Don't be, I was shocked too. Grandma had some health issues and she needed care. No one actually knows mother's problem since she always appeared to be so happy.
