Kapitel 1: Ch 1: Reincarnation

"If this is all death is, it's a little disappointing." Despite knowing she spoke, she couldn't hear it leave her mouth.

She's been floating around in inky blackness for what feels like an eternity, just waiting. She hasn't felt anything, couldn't make out any smells, and can't even see herself. If it wasn't for her mind distracting itself with random self made scenarios she would've long gone crazy.

"Sorry to disappoint you then, mortal." A voice drifted in from the nothing surrounding the girl. "I wasn't expecting anyone to visit."

The girl looked around, or tried to anyway. With everything looking the same she couldn't even tell if her view actually changed.

"If this is your place, why don't you make it a little more hospitable. Maybe then there would be a reason for people to visit." The girl remarked, unable to stop herself.

The voice moved on while ignoring her comment, "You're taking it much better than I would have thought. Your death and all, why is that?"

The girl remembered her death, and how time seemed to slow to almost a crawl as it happened. She recalled how a child stupidly ran into the middle of the road, chasing a balloon that was already too high for him to grab. How she, for some reason, decided to chase after him and push him out of the way of a speeding truck.

Then the unbearable pain as the truck ran over her legs and midsection. Within those agonizing moments she knew she wouldn't come out of that alive so she accepted what was to come. That, and how she was unlucky that the truck didn't run over her head as to kill her instantly.

"That would explain it… I would say sorry about your death but I have nothing to be sorry for as I don't control fate. And I suppose you're right. Rude way to phrase it though. However, with the short amount of time you'll be staying here there is no reason to change it. In fact I lik-" When the voice was cut off an overwhelming pressure filled the area. It didn't seem to be targeting her but due to its sheer power she could still feel it. The pressure lifted as a begrudging groan sounded out.

"I see… well, no more delaying. I have a checklist to go through so I shall start, if you have questions wait until the end." The voice, which sounded neutral at the start, gained a business-like tone.

"You are here because you died a certain way, congrats. I have been asked to handle your soul in any way I see fit, or was until someone interrupted and decided for me. Due to this intervention, you are going to be reincarnated. As with every person reincarnated, you will be granted three wishes that are within my power to grant.

The world you are reincarnated into depends on your knowledge. Any world you know of will be placed into a randomizer and selected before you make your wishes. Of course, you could use a wish to change the world if you so desire. That's all I believe, any questions?"

After the voice finished its droning, it asked the girl to which she replied with a no.

"Good, It seems my monologue took up the time needed to select a world. You shall be going into… Harry Potter. Luckily for you, you seem to know a decent bit about it. Do you want to change it?" The voice questioned the girl who snapped out of her thoughts at the question.

"No, that works quite well for me. Did it specify a time?"

"Yes, as you have the most knowledge of the first movie, you will be reincarnated in the same year as the boy who lived is born.

The girl nodded and thought for a second. "As my first wish, I want to be reincarnated in an unimportant family to the plot. In fact, make it one that didn't have any connection to the plot before my life. I want both my parents to be Wixen, and have a decent financial status.

As my second wish, I wish for there to be a real reason as to why you can cast spells. Something like a Magical Core, i don't know how to explain it fully but you probably know what i mean.

Finally, I wish for something to protect soul and mind. I want it to protect me from any spell or other that targets them to do harm."

The voice takes a moment to respond, "You're third wish needs to be altered a little. You won't be able to guard against someone with experience in those fields at the start, but I will let you strengthen the guard when you learn to do so. Besides that, as your wishes are made, I have one last mark to check." The voice pauses in an attempt to build suspense, "Welcome to your new life."

As those words filled her ears, the everlasting darkness surrounding her shone for a brief second before her mind felt tired. She didn't resist the call for sleep and allowed her mind to cease its awareness.

In the same darkness as before, the voice spoke up, "I did your chore, happy?"

A seemingly embarrassed, and noticeably higher pitched voice responded "Yeah, thanks for this. Do you even know how humiliating it is to talk with a mortal you accidentally killed. If they get angry with you you have to withstand their remarks even though you could squish them with a thought… Why do we even allow that anyway?"

"Why are you asking me, I don't make the rules. How did you get her killed anyway?" The first voice asked with faux wonder.

"Well, I just happened to be lookin through her eyes and when I saw the boy I accidentally thought about helping him and may have influenced her mind… Enough about her, lets catch up. It's been what, 300 years since we last saw each other?"

The first voice just lets out a sigh and lets it's "friend" do all the talking as they "caught up." It should have just ignored the annoying request.

In a large three story house sat atop a hill, one man sat on a chair in his living room. The soft crackle of the wood in the fireplace being the only sound besides the turning of the pages of the book he is reading. His eyes, that matched the same gray as his hair, scanned the pages nonstop until he heard someone else walk into the room.

"Finally those little monsters are asleep. I'm shocked I'm saying this but luckily Lea picked up on your ever dreary demeanor or I'd have gone crazy by now!" The woman's forced tiredness didn't hide the clear amusement she got from picking on her husband, "I'd say it's time for us to go to sleep now. I've been running around all day and need someone to carry me to bed. Why don't you do that for me Ray?"

Sighing, Ray stood and placed his book down on a nearby table for later, and walked to his wife. Her lime-green eyes glowed excitedly as he neared her, only for him to pause as a knock rang out from the main door. They both stood still and only reacted when a second knock sounded.

"The wards aren't reacting so whoever it is shouldn't have thoughts of harming us… that or I need to replace the wards. Jia, I'll go see who's at the door while you go make sure the kids are okay." Not waiting for her to respond, Ray started towards the door. He sighed hoping that the most basic ward placed on his house was working correctly, otherwise well he had his wand so he'd likely be fine.

He twisted the handle on the door and pushed it open, "Hell- oh, who might you be." The open door revealed a child, seeming to be around the same age as his two, sleeping on his porch. Looking around revealed no one else besides the child and a letter laid next to her. Sighing again, Ray picked the child, and note, up off the ground and brought them inside.

He laid her on the couch he was sitting on and turned to his wife who had come back from the other room. "It was just a child, and a note. It reads, 'Didn't feel like making an actual letter. Due to reasons I can't control, this kid is now yours, and don't expect me to come back for her. Even if I could, I wouldn't. Tata~'"

They both stared incredulously at the letter, unwilling to believe someone would get rid of a young child that casually. Ray sighed in disappointment while Jia practically shook in anger. They looked at each other and decided from that one look that they would adopt the kid.

"Ughhh, now I have to put three little monsters to sleep every night." Jia complained in feigned annoyance, smiling at the sleeping girl, her black hair sprawled messily around her small body.

This is how the story of Sophia Green began.
